Actual RP communities take the 18+ rules very seriously and it's not always for erotic purposes. RP communities don't even want minors involved at all no matter where on the roleplay spectrum they fall because it's asking for trouble. The ones I've been a part of police it very strictly when it's found out. There are outlying weirdos and predators sure but they are cast out when discovered and honestly, those types infest every community they can, not just roleplay but sadly the RP community always seems to be the ones accused of being that. Thank you both for your measured responses to this issue but I just wanted to say that for people that really don't understand this side of the community.
I do think that they need to remove the warnings after some time depending on the severity of it. That would make a lot more sense. Regarding ERP I would prefer that they just do it out of public areas and be confined to more private places. That’s it. I would frankly end it there.

Sounds woke just like square enix. Now they can be woke sony. So glad Im 36 and remember them when they were worth a damn as square soft. Glad I dont care about associating with people on xiv, only cared on ffxi since that game was actually designed to be social or else you wouldn't progress. Amd yes ive done raids up to E8 and completed e4. Its like a job ffxi was truely a social experience not like xiv.
Question, how do people know they have a mark on their account? How do you check?

Why don't they make 2 types of warning
Minor- dissapears after 30 days
Major- stays on for good
Ya dun a goof minor warning slap on wrist
You shouted at someone or were super toxic … put before 3 Gm's and they vote
Add a place in game were gms lurk
The grand company bases being a perfect place
Add some players into a council
Some players for each grand company help
(you dont need to pay them you could cover their sub) and bring matters to them also gms come to them with "should this be a warning or ban"
Adding more community to the way this game we play is policed would be excellent not only for engagement but also fairness
You realize the GAME is RP. Not the player base. IE, Digital RPG's existed LONG before people roleplayed them. Player base RP is not RPG in the traditional digital RPG genre. Why mix these terms? Square Enix is responsible for one thing. THE GAME. You are NOT an employee. Your personal ambitions literally have no grounds in FF and if you sneeze wrong you ARE NOT protected. You don't understand RP apparently. As stated by yourself. Is the world safe for kids? STFU. I can't go to walmart because its rated R. /facepalm. The ratings are informative to that end. What a dumbass assessment. BTW, you can actually put on CHILD filters as per RATINGS.

I sent a letter in-game to the help section due to early pulling trolls during hunts. They would pull the target and then get bent and start spouting off at people that asked them to hold while people arrived.. Yet the ones shouting for them to stop were getting warnings and suspensions. I quoted their own rules to them on others preventing fair gameplay and so on. Not even a reply was received.
thats not really an official response from SE tho its important to note the poster falls under the same boat as a GM that was just a community rep not an official SE employee and in fact i had the GM team itself confirm to me the forums is not owned by SE but it is looked at and overseen by the devs directly.
so if you were looking for something official thats not it lol its only official if it is a post that comes from the forum user/moderator Yoshi-p or Foxcon THEN it is an official response lol but the reps here decided they would retcon this and handled it before it went up the pipeline to a dev but even then i would not be surprised if this incident and similar like it are brought up in the next live letter we get to give us some clarity hopefully on what kind of behavior they want roleplayers to adhere to etc
Unfortunately the mocking of public ERP is often the very introduction people have to the concept of RP in an mmo as a whole. It's a stigma every kind of rper has had to deal with at some point or another. Because of the vocal few needing that kind of attention giving RP a bad image for everyone else. Many do it just for the shock value, entitlement, or just to provoke a reaction from more conservative people. Too often outsiders assume RP and ERP are the same thing because the most scandalous individuals are in the spotlight promoting the negative stereotype. Many RPers do not want to be associated with them because they are mistreated and mislabeled for the blatant behavior of the other. Not to be confused with those who keep it to themselves behind closed doors. The public ones.These people don't care or respect the people around them, their values or the ToS, but will pick and argue freedom of speech when it is most convenient.
Ask anyone about Balmung. You don't even have to be from that server to know it's reputation. Without any resistance you end up with the image those louder than you give it. True or not. And unfortunately it happens in just about every mmo. E for everyone lost it's true meaning years ago. It's no longer for everyone respectful enough to play together. It's for People carefree in their freedom to push their ideals or lack of morals on those around them in a public space. But the same can be said of any troll. If you don't like it, you can leave. That's their mentality. Fortunately they don't speak for everyone, but there's just never been enough movement on the other side to set the record straight. So you learn to ignore it, join it, or mock it.

It amazes me that they are banning and issuing warnings on the RP community, but do nothing about their stalker friendly system.
I love FFXIV & will come back to play the MSQ & try the new jobs solo! I will then leave because of a situation that happen to several of my guild mates awhile ago! We are an adult guild & you know it when you join! We rpd in our guild house with some erp if there were not any children present! We rpd mostly to do our runs & pvp! We had an problem in our guild with some teenage kids joining us & then reporting several guildmates when they got kicked from our guild! Several friends got reported for bullying when they were not bullying anyone but they still have that mark against them! At least 20+ people from our guild have left FFXIV & won't come back even with the Expansion coming soon! Our guild has essentially died, we pop on to do some quests then leave! We still talk on Discord & other outside of the game media! To myself & allot of people I know FFXIV is just a nonsocial game! It now feels like we are playing a single player FF game! But anyway great vid guys as always!
I’ve had issues with trolling in PF and dungeons and have never been sure if it’s something to report, if there’s even a place to report it, and just had to blacklist them and feel bad for the next person they partied with.
I’ve left duties bc I was being harassed (only happened once or twice in all 5 years playing thankfully), and I get a 30 minute Duty Finder ban for that. Which sucks because I’m getting punished for protecting myself. I was also new to the game at the time and didn’t consider that I could report the harasser.
I’ve seen bots out in the open world doing MSQ, literally inside the ground, teleporting around, and not been able to report bc as far as I’m aware the only way to report is to go into the menu somewhere and type out the character’s full name (unfeasible, there were like 20 of them with gibberish names) or click on their name in chat, which works only for RMT who are shouting.
I wish there was more communication and resources for players trying to deal with issues.
Been watching your channel for a while now. To maybe answer your question about the AFKing in a dungeon or trail, since I have had this issue several times which lead to me doing almost only premade groups. I have no screenshots but in the GMs words players can play however they want and if that play style is to afk in content and be carried then there is nothing anyone can do. Side note some of my scenarios where before vote to kick was implemented

I was banned from the official FFXIV forums in 2014. I don't even remember why, but their is zero appeal process in place, so I laugh when the customer support tells me to post my details on a bug affecting me and others on the forum for additional help.
Yeah no – sounds like toxic players qq'ing about getting penalized for their behavior. You always see commenters downplaying their own complicity by saying "oh I only said something really minor and everyone else reported me. Such carebears!"
Typical victim blaming. FFXIV reporting asks for time, game location and incident description which means the GMs actually go through logs to see what happens. If someone gets penalized it is because they breached a TOS consistently. In other MMOs, you can report but GMs don't even ask for details and end up doing nothing.
The ERP thing is kinda creepy.. I seen real questionable ERP houses where they are set up for exotic purposes.
I’m not against RP but ERP should be monitored and an offensive act when caught. Especially when some of the game races mirror minors
It is still happening. Me and 1 of my staff were pulled into GM jail 2/25 back to back for our party finder advertising RP venue that I run. Sent screen shots to other people running venues already about it
I was wondering if we have had the same things in the european servers. I play there but have never heard of the warnings or the bans. Is there someone playing there that has had this problem ?

Thank you for taking some time to explain the situation in more basic terms. I’ve been playing XIV for less than a year and mostly focusing on the MSQ still. I know “of” several features but I don’t understand how to use them all or what they do. (Which is fine. I’m saving it for later. Just powering through my Warrior adventuring story.) It was a bit frustrating to watch a video commentary about a game I enjoy and have no idea what was being talked about. Made me feel s-m-r-t.

I've seen things advertised on SWTOR main chats for "eRP ages 15-18." I had no idea what it was. I'm shocked it was public. Predators being so open is a worrysome thought.
I think people are missing a important point that you guys also talked about. It's not just about RP. It's the mismanagement by GMs in general. Not the first time people gotten banned for nothing.
Wait so someone got suspended for emoting too much despite the fact that they literally have a system to enable you to do that without bothering people? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought if you emote a certain amount of times within a certain timeframe, it stops telling the public log. That combined with the fact that literally any time I'm in Limsa I see someone clapping or dancing on loop over even if it's an emote that loops just leads me to think… what?
And on another note I'm not really one for ERP, but as someone who does know people who are very into RP and ERP both; I think the argument of "Oh but underaged people play this game you can't do that" is the same as saying "Oh but underaged people use the internet you can't have this adult site." Like if they do everything they can to stop minors from joining without basically having free access to someone's personal information, I don't think it's fair to label a group of people as creeps because of a few very bad actors that embed themselves into every community, not just the RP community. I think that fact was shown clearly with the Tate incident.
I understand why prem warnings can be an issue. And I personally want like you two talked about. However, the real issue isn't addressed. The real issue are those narcissistic sociopaths who abuse the system in personal and evil manners. Because there are so many bad people, we need stright rules or else it only get worse.
In other words. If we want fewer rules in our online games we need to get rid of those who destroy everything for everyone else.

I was just banned today for saying a bad word 6 months ago, and they cant tell me exactly when or what was said. They're becoming tyrants.
Why allow users yo turn off the profanity filter, when you cant use profanity?
I can no longer love this game. Its toxic, the GMs are toxic, I've been punished for false accusations, defending myself, and talking to my friends. I'm done, and I know no one here cares, but I can no longer be apart of this community.
One of the reasons I quit XIV is because of the censorship and snowflake culture in the game now. Miss the old days.
