Apparently Asmongold has hurt some of the Final Fantasy 14 players.
Did “Fame” ruin Asmongold? Has he lost his touch with his viewers?
Or are the reddit users flaming Asmon gone to far?

He created this problem himself. When he gonna take responsibility for his own actions? If you set expectations then they should be followed up on. This would be like HBO promising TV show on Wednesdays every week but randomly doing it on Thursday or Friday or just not doing. Yeah he can do what he want and so can HBO. But if you set expectations that you don't keep, don't complain when people don't trust you anymore.
I have the right to complain, while you absolutely have the right NOT acknowledge my complain. That's free speech to you.
This an hour long video that simply boils down to: Asmon should change his title to what he is currently doing. It is not hard, pretty much all streamers do it. Lol.
Remember when you were a kid when your parents finally bought you the video game you wanted at the mall and your parents decided to stop at every store after that and all you wanted was to go home and try your game? When you spoke up, you get yelled at and you threatened to take back your game. This is exactly what Asmongold is doing.
Also… What right do we have as an audience to criticize the streamer?
All streamers are entertainers. Who are they entertaining if it wasn't for their audience? There's no need for mutual agreement to be criticized when it comes to being in a public space. The fact of the matter is yes, the audience can turn away and watch something else but there is also a level of integrity when it comes to presenting your own stream. When you announce something, you are building a hype no matter what the streamer intended. There are consequences of every action and all we ask is streamer to take that responsibility of creating said hype. If that didn't live up to the expectation, then you will hear about it. Streamer really needs to be reminded that not all of us have the time to watch or monitor these streamers all fucking day. Not many of us are keen on waiting 5 hours just to see the parts they've been waiting for. This is exactly like the game developers with their tactics of keeping the people in the game by grinding. It's the same concept and you know you hate that too.
36:48 – Sums it up perfectly. That's literally that's all that needs to be said about the FFXIV community. They don't realize how off-putting it is when they carry on the way they do.
He made it seem like he was going to play FFXIV non stop.
People shouldn’t get so fucking emotional over watching a video game on a website. Actually brain dead.
If streamers are such babies they can't handle a little criticism, then quit streaming. You're on the internet. In this reaction you act like the FF community harassed him, they didn't.
i think Asmongold took this whole thing too seriously, he really let it get under his skin (which he even admits and apologises for via his clips channel)
I don't watch Asmon stream but i'm not a fan of the rhetoric from both sides. I hate how back seating FFXIV viewers can be when telling people what to feel, what dialog options to choose or complaining that streamers are getting carried in hard content (Rich's Ultimate Clears). Asmon's chat also love to bait people and can get pretty toxic at times, but when you have that many people in chat it can be hard to really properly interact with it effectively or properly.
However, Asmongold is the streamer and its his right to stream what he wants but he didn't really temper expectations from the get go or get ahead of the problem. A lot of people were expecting a return to his ARR/HW streams where he would be diving into the game and enjoying the content.
I have to say I can't blame him for not wanting to play FFXIV. Don't get me wrong, I like the game and play it from time to time, but if you watch his streams and while in a game there is one thing that is far different with this game than any other. FFXIV is the only community that smothers him in game. Smothers as in there are so many people there all of the time to the point he can't even see the quest markers to play the actual game. He plays WoW he can go around and see the map, he plays Lost Ark and goes around and can see the map. He plays Diablo Immortal and he can go around and see the map. If he played my main game, swtor, he could probably go around and see the map. However, when he's in FFXIV he's constantly surrounded by players to the point he can't even see his own character. I mean, would anyone want to play a game under those conditions? And I think that's a big part of why he doesn't like playing especially on stream. The community is so fanatic about him playing the game that when he gets in he can't play the game.
This is his community, not FF. The vast of the FF majority either don't know he exists or even watch him.
Glad the community is being generalized by a guy who's only been playing the game for a few months. Really nice, guess it has to be always something with this guy. Maybe he'd feel more comfortable paying money in Diablo Immortal, pretending to be doing some great community service.
Also everyone has the right to criticize a streamer, what a stupid thing to say. If you don't want to hear mean words or criticism, then get off the internet.
Or develop a thicker skin, this is all so stupid.
I feel like if people want to watch a streamer play a particular game, they should just watch the vods or YouTube uploads. I don't use Twitch, but I feel like the point is to interact with the streamer and enjoy their content, not to try and make them do what you want them to do. If people don't like what they're doing, find someone else who is doing what you want. There are other channels.
dance monkey dance
you know i dontt watch gameplay, just apex. years ago we talked about the real ogs watch you for you, cuz it is fun to hang out and bullshit with you
the guy stopped playing months ago and nobody cares. Then he make a big deal about playing again. Then he's upset bc ppl want him to play the game.
Hate to say it but that's part of the job of being a internet personality. Way it's always been. You get to live a comfortable privileged life and In exchange you are a target for mean and crazy people. Common sense
You can't use "If you don't like him, don't watch him" argument here. People are being misled to watch something they didn't want to at the promise that something they wanted might come soon, their time was already wasted and it is only natural for them to vent out their frustration. There is none to blame but Asmon's poor communication.
Asmongold has been doing this for quite awhile, doing hours long reactions to what catches his eyes before actually streaming the game he said he will play. It happened during his Lost Ark streams, Elden Ring Streams and now he is doing the same with FFXIV. I am guessing his viewers/audience had enough, decided to voiced their opinions and he cannot handled it.
Let me be clear, all genres of games have their "psycho/obsessive" fan base, FFXIV included. Unfortunately for the general FFXIV community, they are now getting blamed for the toxicity of Asmongold's viewer base.
This could have all been avoided if Asmongold had stated what is happening for the day's stream and titled it according but then that will not get the viewership numbers.
Just gonna say. Back last year, intro's were 2h to 2h30 long and then he did games. Any type, not just FF, I did tune in for games after his return and whenever he did D&D. Now? His intro's are 5h long and he's tried to justify that it's the community's fault (as a whole). He disregarded that McConnell purposedfuly delayed him on the Vrising interview day from playing FF until the interview time. He disregards that he's received intro complaints on Elden Ring, Lost Ark and a few other games too. But he's lumping it all with, his words, "Ever since I started playing FF, I've been getting complaints on my intro's. And it's only that community I feel."
He even admits on another game (I think Elden Ring) that he also got intro complaints but he backtracked it with "Yeah but true my intros were shorter then." and then proceeds to go "But I feel it's only an issue with the FF community."
I don't see it as a lack of civilized dialogue when he, over and over, blames the community and blames the players (unlike last time he had issues with it and said 'only the most loud portions of the community'). He put a vocal poll in the chat asking "Chat, am I being mean and unreasonable?" and all he got was mostly "no" answers, mixed with "yes" and a good few calling out "FF andies" and the like, not taking into account that probably after half an hour of shittalking the FF community, most tuned out.
It's a self-inflicted issue. People would have absolutely no issue if he said "Ok guys, I don't feel like doing FF today" even like 2h intro the stream. But he waited and waited and then on the 30th decided to make fun of the community further going at the end of the stream like "okay so my plan to play the msq for final fantasy…" and then cuts the stream. It's an obvious troll at this point.
I'm just writing my thoughts out in long form here because I couldn't catch the stream today, but I honestly couldn't care less about what's going on ever since that day. I just wanted to clarify from my side and that of my part of the community what issues we had with the behaviour.
In summation: Who the fuck listens to Reddit Andys?
I don't believe people say their a ff14 or wow player on other forms but the official game site if you can't see their account character with the comment it's just some random clown that doesn't play either game.
Not exactly a fan of the ff14 community getting blamed for the actions of Asmongold's community.
FFXIV players weird me out. They don't love their game, they are IN love with their game.
Like they've had way too many latenight ERP sessions and it rewired their brains or something.
Basically the ff community said- if you don’t title your vids correctly, gtfo or grovel in apology. So Asmon said See Ya, got the fuck out, and the ff community did a collective surprise pikachu face
Im so glad, during 4 year experience of me playin ff14, i never met toxic players in ff14. Never used reddit, never used twitter. I believed ff14 community was better than wow. Now i see its same negative cringefest 😐
It's easy to blame entire community. He just wants an excuse and create fake drama for clics at this point. And tbh, hyping his return and then doing 6 hour intros makes some people upset. It's just that. If he stays, he stays. If he moves on, he moves on. It is what it is. Let's move on. And also let's not forget that he is addicted to blizz's games, he consumed them for so many years he got used to their "taste" and he seems to be fine being shat on by blizz employees.
i think sometime streamers get too caught up in trying to entertain instead of just playing the damn game
The problem is people enjoyed him playing the game. When he first started he played non stop and than he suddenly stopped without notice at the end of Stormblood. Now people waited nearly one year to see his reaction on the story and he hardly plays the game. Also he transformed his stream from GAMING with a bit of reactions to REACTIONS with a bit of gaming.
He overhyped the game title/anouncment and played for 4hrs over a week. Then he blames the entire FF community saying they are all causing him stress. I dont care how long his intros are, but he always turns his chat against FF for w/e reason.
This has been happening lately with Asmon and now here lately with Esfand. As I used to watch their streams daily. BUT here is the catch! They don't OWE YOU THE VIEWER? 100% SHIT. You watch them cause you subscribed to THEM. REGARDLESS of what they play. When they play something I find boring or just don't care for? I just watch somebody else. I really have trouble why people can NOT understand that…….
All these new FFXIV Streamers and yet none are being "attacked" like this…. A game known for its notoriously nice players….. Yea something doesnt add up…
