  1. Totally agree Shadowbringers has been a huge Highlight for me in terms of what to expect out of MMOs going forward, had something to look forward to every patch so far Was stuck in the AAR section for stormblood so being able to play through this xpac from start to finish has been a treat and looking forward to EW as well

  2. FC is interested in a FC wide playthrough of FF4 closer to EW where we get on discord and help each other out with tips and tricks (with people who have never played it).

  3. I get the argument about having nothing to do. But for me at least, I rather have a short burst of fun then nothing in the game. Than a long dragged out grind fest as I don't think artificially making things longer for the sake of it is fun. That's what Blizzard did with WQs and Rep. I hated it so much that I quit and never came back lol. Instead I think there should be small content updates throughout, but I just don't think they have the time.

I can see how it's annoying for others and I'm not really defending it either. Just giving my opinion. For me I'll just play other games in the meantime and I'm good with that 🙂

  4. I feel like there's always something more to do

Even if it's not your favorite part of the game, if you have nothing else to do, might as well mess around with glamour, or housing, or triple triad, or verminion, or leveling all classes, or getting all the relic weapons from previous expansions, or minion/mount collecting, or doing all the side quests, or chocobo racing, or gil making, or achievement hunting, or maxing out beast tribes, or just helping other new players…

Even if you have ALL that done, might as well make an alt! Then you can do it all over again on a race you've never tried before :3

  5. My plans before Endwalker are to get my last 6 jobs to 80 (2 anxiety filled tanks and 4 melee DPS that I haven’t played since Stormblood) and then binge the entire story from ARR back to Shadowbringers before going into the finale in November. After that, I’ll take a hiatus, probably only coming back for seasonal events.

  6. I mean, honestly? My plan? Get crafters to 80, finish up my leftover raids, collect some birds. There's plenty I haven't gotten to. But… that's not the point. I want you to understand something here because it's been stressed over the entirety of this game's life –

FFXIV is not supposed to be your sole content. Yoshida has said this multiple times in interviews. He's fine if you stop playing, go to something else for a while, and come back come patch time. This stretch is a little long, but that's mainly due to the Pandemic and having to switch to work from home. Every time I hear someone talk about expecting content in this game to last the entire patch cycle, I wonder just how new they are.

FFXIV is not designed to sustain your entire entertainment. It CAN, it certainly has enough distractions for a casual player to do so. But if you're putting in several long play secessions a month, no, you're going to burn out of content, and they're well aware of that happening and are okay with it. This is one of the culture shocks that many WoW refugees run into. Progression stops after a while, and it's about diversifying your entertainment with less hardcore pursuits if you still want to be living in FFXIV.

Add to that baseline the pandemic issues and delays (like the loss of Ultimate this time around) and I hope that helps adjust your expectations. It feels like every patch cycle we go through this conversation and while it's understandable to those new to the field – this should be common knowledge.

Good luck in your endeavors and I hope you enjoy your grind regardless of it's length.

  7. Yesterday I only got to rank 16 so I have a ton of time to grind my way through next to my TEA progression.
And I loved the MSQ quests, it was so good foundation for the new expansion. It was so sad that the characters said multiple times "Let's go to Sharlayan" and I was like yeah in november 😭

  8. yea it absolutely isn't enough for such a long gap, especially since it's only bozja, and I absolutely hate that place and they kinda expect people to farm all relics till endwalker or something dunno

  10. While this isn't a large patch and some people will consume it quickly (Happy already cleared the raid), it is important to note that this is still larger than an average X.55 patch. Normally it would be just the MSQ. Personally I am glad for the wait as I have time to level my alt jobs to 80. That is every job that isn't Ninja including crafters and gatherers. Some, I haven't touched since ARR.

For the MSQ itself: I loved the final fight, the red haired woman had the best lines again, and the new character totally stole the show. All in all I quite liked it, but for me it didn't feel impactful enough. And that is all I can say without going into spoilers.

  12. About how much exp were you getting per fate in the new bozja area with your rdm chris? When you hit 15, could you post about how much exp you are getting per fate? I'm really surprised that the new zone is leveling so quickly. I went from 13 to 18 in 2 hours yesterday. I did hear that the new leveling beyond 25, it costs approximately 20 million mettle for 3 additional levels. It seems like at 25, that might go pretty quickly also.

My plan is to work on the relic once I finish leveling. I have some gil making I want to do; however, will probably quit the game again to wait for the expansion.
