FFXIV P3S Tornado Elmo Strat Tank POV

Strategy

0:05 Dodge the cones, then stack or spread depending on the Experimental Ashplume. Typically tanks & melee resolve the mechanic in the north half, healers & ranged south. You can start in the “wrong” half of the arena as long as you end up in the correct half when the 3rd cone goes off.

0:21 Another round of cones – no Experimental Ashplume with this one.

0:32 Storms of Asphodelos starts casting. Both tanks should grab the tethers then head south. Since most of the party will be NW, you can wait for the party to gather there instead of heading south immediately – it makes picking up the tethers easier and prevents someone else accidentally taking them back from you.

0:36 Position for tanks to bait cones from the tornado. The west tank can afford to be a little further west to prevent the SW cone being accidentally baited to the party. Use invuln before Storms of Asphodelos finishes casting.

0:47 The boss tethers a random tornado with a black tether. Head to the first tornado clockwise of it and slowly bait aoe puddles around the boss, like you did with Sewage Eruption from P2S. You should arrive back at the black tornado after the last set of puddles. (NOTE: some parties start at the black tornado instead. If you do this then you have to run further or you won’t make it to the black tornado in time for the knockback.)

1:01 Note the Experimental Ashplume. Be knocked back towards the tornados in two separate groups, then stack or spread as needed. Typically tanks & melee are knocked back to the left and healers & ranged to the right when looking out at the black tornado from the middle. Do not stand too close to mid and be knocked INTO the tornado, it is lethal.

The boss casts a Scorched Exaltation and the mechanic ends. Prepare for Death’s Toll.
