  1. I suppose as far as moogle themes go in FFXIV you'd better have gone with "Good King Moggle Mog XII" (which is preceded by a smaller song called "The Seven Jesters"). I don't remember whether you listened to it before or no.

  2. I really can't remember any song I could call bad in XIV. Some of them may be just overused. Maybe some of the Realm Reborn battle themes, but they are not really that bad, just dumb in comparison to something newer.

  3. I unironically love both of these songs. March of the Moogles isn't actually BGM. There's a scene in the story where you come across a group of moogles playing a song. Moogles being moogles, the song is just bad. It's a small but very "Final Fantasy-esque" bit of humor, and I appreciate it for that.
Papaya is great because (I think) it only plays during seasonal events. It's oddly silly nature makes it so wildly different from the normal in-game music that it kind of pulls you away from the main story. It gives you a chance to take a short break some saving the world to go hunt down some Hatching-tide (Easter) eggs or deliver a few gifts for the Starlight Celebration (Christmas).

  4. You NEED to check out the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster soundtracks. FFs 1 through 6, all of Nobuo's work beautifully remade by live musicians.

Some highlights include Dancing Mad, with one of the best versions outside of The Black Mages. Then everyone's favourite FF V track, Battle on the Great Bridge, gets turned into an absolutely bitchin' ska anthem. And IV's Mystic Misidia has NO right to go as hard as it does.

And the drummer in every track of all 6 remaster games was an ELEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL at the time of recording. Listening to the Dancing Mad phase 4 drums this girl kills at will blow your mind into a million crzy moogles riding chocobos.

  5. I remember the Amaurot video! The thing about it is that the music was lowkey because it's a HIGHLY emotional moment, has a narrator voice on top of it, and a lot of scenery information. Can't overstate how absolute of an emotional wreck it is. But it makes sense that the music needed to be softer, to not be overbearing on the rest, otherwise I'd have been too much. As for Papaya, it really is just that it loops constantly indeed. I don't think I've EVER heard the solo and melody change btw, and I've been playing for 6 years. Just the constant "papaya". I still like it tbh! After all we only hear it a few weeks a year during easter.

  6. i had papaya play at my in-game wedding, which is a thing you can do and they have like wedding styles you can choose, song selection, and all sorts of stuff. set the tone for just a good fun, nothing serious event!

  7. In FF14, most people can't see moogles, so they get a bit mischievous at times. Like downing someone's bottle of wine while they're resting their eyes.

Easter is called Hatching-tide and there's a new event every year. Similar things for summer with The Moonfire Faire, Heavensturn at new year's, and Starlight Celebrations 'round the holidays.

  8. Papaya is awesome.
    It's just that if you
listen to it for a few minutes its gonna live in your head rent-free for months.
Also you should absolutely listen to the Pulse album version of this (among other songs on there)

  9. It's not that Papaya is a bad song. Like you I think it's actually good but it's incredibly jarring when you're doing something serious and you get caught off guard by the song. Or when other people play it on repeat just to get a kick out of annoying others.

  10. Pa-Paya is one of my favorite song.
The 'Problem' is, every major city and even the housing districts gets decorated for festivals. and at certain parts, Pa-Paya plays in the background. I think lots of people are just over it because they have to listen to the song way too often.

But like i said… I really love it, after so many years of playing 😀

  11. Papaya is not a bad song, i really like it and always sing along with it… the first few minutes, but if you hear that on loop for a long time it just… burns into your head @.@
Oh no… and here it is… it's stuck in my head again….

    PA!paya, Paya Papaya Paya Papaya ~ PA!paya

  12. Smile is a bit of the odd one, I don't think it's BAD it just kinda sounds off – I guess it fits description though.
For me one of the worst sounding songs was, in my personal opinion – Revolutions – Stormblood end credits song. It's not bad, but I found it being extremely forgettable.
Amaurot theme has to be this kinda somber memory like – it's hard to say without heavy spoilers.
It's hard to put really bad songs in XIV, maybe more of those that just don't land well or don't work.

  13. Only reason people dislike Pa-paya is just due to hearing it too many times out of game. I think everyone probably liked it most likely at one point. I still love it and think it's great, but I understand getting exhausted (still don't think that makes it a "bad song" though).

  14. Okay I personally love Pa-Paya but I won't lie it is also my no thoughts, brain empty theme song every time easter rolls around. Now since you've heard Pa-Paya… what about Pa-Paya Demastered? 😁

  15. I can see why people find Pa-Paya annoying. While it isn't bad, it isn't the type of song that you want to hear repeatedly in a zone or a town. Not only that, the first part of the song sticks in your head very easily so you have it inside your head the entire day. While it is fun at first, it would simply get frustrating over time.

  16. 80 songs from FF14? Oh nice, then you're just about… oh 500-ish away from reacting to the full regular OST, not counting the seasonal and special event music. 😛

The Papaya song plays during the seasonal easter event in-game, but it's also used by multiple YouTubers for their intros, outros or just background music. As such it's so omni-present, I think people just forget to mention it, like you usually don't mention that a river is full of water.

Smile is not a bad song in and off itself… it's just used in a place in the game, where it's extremely out of place, leading to a rather negative mentional association.

!!Out of context spoiler for late Dawntrail!!
"Oh you just saw your brother slaughter dozens of innocent civilians and then kill your father a minute ago and now we're on the clock to avoid the rest of the city being annihilated by setting out to kill this gone-crazy brother? Sounds like the perfect time for a goofy montage to a happy piece of music right?"

  17. March of the Moogles I think is from 1.0, because I don't remember hearing it anywhere else. Pa-paya is the worst one for me. It is not bad, though, but rather fitting considering it plays on event festivals like Easter.

  18. So the reason is because the holiday events would have minigames and this song looped during it. So people say Papaya because they’d be stuck doing the minigames for a long time lol. They say it as kinda a diss but kinda to be cutesy and funny. The community has strange habits and inside jokes

  19. Pa-paya reminds me of kurukuru Rock from we love katamari…

    I love it
It has a tendency to get on people's nerves
Those people have a tendency to need some therapy
I had therapy help me in the past
I'm way more happy nowadays since said therapy
    Kurukuru rock makes me happy
    I love it

Life is short. Enjoy whimsy. Have fun. Live a little.

Also, i've heard worse music in my life from video games than BOTH of these songs in my 33 years on this blue and green marble because that first one is clearly intentionally bad, unlike the songs i'm thinking of right now.
