  1. For bard I kinda wish for a dot spreader.. and let our songs help us too.. I mean I just wish not to have the damage of say mech but and maybe not the support level of dancer but perhaps a bit more on dots, a spreader, make us good for the long term fights. Maybe a tri-disaster

  2. been playing bard for a very very long time what they need to do if give us back are heavensward skills and revamp them with better ones … and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE ME BACK RAINING ARROWS lol felt very OP

  3. I loved my "Ranger" at the beginning of ShB. I don't raid so giving up dps for a trivial amount of party utility sucked. I main MCH now, leveling DNC, and have 80 healers and all mages.

  4. I've chosen to level up Machinist as my only dps job that I will have at 90 in Endwalker, because it is the most "hunter" like job in FF14. I've mained a hunter in WoW for 13 years and I loved it, the only expansion I mained something else was ironicly in TBC, when hunters were at their best lol. I regret that choice. You can say Bard is very hunter like, it has a bow and arrow, but it is a support role job, you buff others, same with Dancer, which honestly looked cool when I first tried it a year ago. I don't wanna play support, I wanna do damage if I play a dps and so, Machinist is the poison of choice. if I was gonna level a caster I would 100% go black mage. my main role will be tank though, its just too much fun.
As a side note, I will be trying out the reaper and leveling all the DoWs to 70 for the title. but my style of play has always leaned towards ranged for damage and then tanks.
I would love it if they added a Ranger job in the next expansion after endwalker. not as the next evolution of Bard or a job that you can switch between and level up at the same time like astrologian and summoner do, but just a separate jonb on its own, something I would think the archer would evolve into, but didn't.

  5. With the three physical ranged DPS classes I do agree that machinist and dancer in good spots. The only thing I'd like to see is dancer get like a single target dance whether it be a new dance entirely introduced into the rotation or add an element of changing standard step to be aoe or single target.

Bard is definitely the one that needs help in just figuring out what it wants to be. I've talked to my friends about it where the last two expansions summoner was the DoT class and now it feels like bard is the DoT class where it's skills revolve more heavily around DoT uptime than the current iteration of summoner. I wouldn't mind that because I like playing DoT focused classes but it also kinda feels like bard would need something like miasma from summoner if they want to lean more into it but then it's like, thematically it still seems kinda all over the place? As it currently stands I really only play dancer and then when I burn myself out on that I'll play bard a little to kill time until I want to go back to dancer.

  6. Brd vs Dnc: It would have been nice to some competition, but instead it feels like they’re totally stripped down and both have a terrible balance between support and offense. And the role skills are almost totally niche and just end up ignored because of the changes they did for the introduction of PVP

Brd: literally, like every time it goes full dps in design: no one likes it. So, for Bowmage: everyone started to just immediately complain about brd not singing, but the whole kit design just totally discouraged it because it was totally offensive based, so that was really predictable. It was also total whiplash because of the completely different play styles, which was ewww…

So, this lead to this like long term exodus of people wanting to actually like play bard, so they overbuffed it, which didn’t work.

So, they just incorporated the songs into the dps kit and added palisade and the map and tp restoration abilities into the pool of abilities, but still kept sidewinder unchanged for some reason and totally doesn’t like synergize with the songs or do that’s anything useful for the overall kit. But, it was super fun to play

In ShB they introduced DNC, continued the terrible “A, B, or mixed” balancing that never works without disasterous results, and returned it to the more dps focused design with mostly useless role abilities like bind (negated by dots), heavy (that is a single target ability and not useful against modern boss-design), and interrupt abilities (“why didn’t you interrupt them” “oh, didn’t notice it, sorry” repeats x infinity). There are also the abilities that received zero useful changes like nature’s minne (only activates after the tank is healed) and Warden’s (a totally low-rent, single target esuna).

Other issues are like how haste is not beneficial to use with melee, and abilities do like this proc reset cancel that prevents the action from activating sometimes and it’s just really annoying. And, the song gauge being an absolutely wasted GCD, it’s wasted potential, and just doesn’t synergize with the songs that puts it in with the same issues that shadowbite and sidewinder have: a no synergy, dps fluff ability

Mch: it just feels halfway finished. Flamethrower really needs to be fixed, they need to give it better, different, or change to 100% dps, the battery gauge abilities need to way more interesting, and the heat gauge still doesn’t make any sense at all. The HG is really, really weird too. It’s just been stuck like that since StB too. Is this like how thermodynamics is supposed to work??? I’m so confused about how the whole heat gauge is supposed to work

Dnc: seriously, I just like have no idea what the main dances or like most of it’s dps kit does or how it’s supposed to like flow together, but, like everyone keeps giving me coms and it feels so totally weird and super confusing that I really couldn’t get into it …

  7. Personally I'm hopeful that one day we might get some of the base class identities back as jobs. A lot of them, like MRD, LNC, and the casters, don't really have very separate identities from their jobs and that's fine, but others do. GLD, PUG, ARC, and ROG are all very different, at least from a character fantasy perspective, then the job they end up as. There should be something here for people who would rather be a rogue instead of a ninja, or an archer instead of a bard. This is a bit of a big ask I know, but I can't help but dream.

  8. Dancer feels pretty amazing and there's really just a few QoL changes I'd like to see made: using a saber dance extends all proc duration by 3 seconds and improvisation grants a static amount of esprit regardless of how many people are standing in it as that is ANNOYING because people are always jumping and moving around when I'm trying to use it. Machinist also feels pretty amazing and the only change I REALLY want to see on the job is to give overheat the a fixed number of uses instead of its current timer like Ninja's Bunshin system because not being able to fit it in the maximum number of GCDs inside of the window is a huge DPS loss for Machinist considering that it's very ping dependent which isn't a stable thing. I can get it most of the time but there are plenty of times when I don't get it and it's super frustrating. Finally, I think Bard needs a Machinist-level rework at this point. They completely remade Bard for Stormblood and it was really good but in Shadowbringers it felt like they simply removed a bunch of the things that Bard used to do and gave it very little in compensation. I still see people play it occasionally but for me it's just not fun to play anymore which is really sad since it was my secondary job in Stormblood after Red Mage. I personally think it's just too similar to Dancer without being as simple or fun so they should boil it down to its essence and then expand it from there like they did to Machinist in Shadowbringers.

  9. I kind of want a return of cross class abilities/traits. Like, a reward for mastering each class. For instance, getting monk to level 50 and completing the quest gives a boost or in black mage's case, the ability to fire off weaker free Scathe's as an auto attack

  10. Is it just me, or is it good to see Chris and Brian being more loose and fun lately? I feel like they've had to cover some heavy things or drama lately. It's nice to see them just chillin on games.

  11. Bard should be able to buff themselves with their Battle voice it makes 0 sense why it does not give them the buff as well imagine dragoons not benefitting of their litany or dancer not gaining any buff from their raidwide buff idk what square was thinking.
Raise interesting but it would not make anything better for the job tbh it also would not fit

  12. So probably an unpopular opinion but a battle raise is not utility it's something that's handy to have if everything goes to bad. In the perfect ideal situation even the healers shouldn't have to use theirs

  13. Completely see Bard's identity crisis. Dancer and Machinist almost feel in perfect states right now. I don't know what they could add to DNC.

I would love to see Bard take more of a party wide support kind of role. Weaker than Technical Step but more consistent. I have never liked Battle Voice and so I'd just remove it and build it into the songs. I would be interested in the songs being semi-permanent, so you can choose which one is most appropriate and stick with it, but I also don't know how you could vary the ogcd's you'd be using because they're procced by songs, though in the first place there's only Bloodletter (and aoe version) and Pitch Perfect. You could remove the effect Mage's Ballad has on Bloodletter and just make it so all songs build towards Pitch Perfect, and each song simply has different bonuses for the party.

I'd like to see Bard take a bit of a ranged physical Red Mage role, so it can always have a place in progress parties. A battle raise sounds great, perhaps even a 420s ogcd raise. Perhaps, like Phoenix, one of its songs could apply a small regen instead of a damage increase, or maybe just change Nature's Minne so that it is a party regen.

  14. I started as archer into bard cause that's what everyone said to do….it works. Bard is easy, it's perfectly fine in vanilla content, it's all around inoffensive….bland….annnnnnd that's why it sucks. Once I started playing around with other classes, I realized that there is A LOT better out there. Basically Bard doesn't do anything well. Dancer buffs better and MCH hits harder….and I would argue that both have better aesthetics and animations than bard. So what's the point of bard? I'd like to see it move to a more D&D type bard, where it can attack but it lives off of status effects, buffs, and utility.

  15. While I'd have loved the new healer to be Chemist, the fact that it was kind of hinted at and isn't the new healer leads me to think they're keeping it on the back burner for another physical ranged DPS option in the future. Mixing their basic attacks with different chemical actions to change how they work. Like attack + additive = bigger boom. Or attack + dilute = AoE etc.
As for existing Ranged dps I echo the comment about chainsaw. Give us all of those ff6 moves. Maybe combo it off of spreadshot

  16. I began as archer, stuck with bard after 30 but quickly switched to dancer at 60 because it’s just better at things bard is supposed to be good for. I’d be fine if they split bard into 2 jobs – let bard bring the buffs, maybe an instant heal or two and a raise, and some magic damage via songs. Then introduce a new physical ranged job that starts as archer but turns into a legit hunter-type ranger with full mobility, high instant cast single target damage and solid aoe, plus cc skills that build on the role abilities – and yes, even the ability to summon pets temporarily for different uses in combat! I like machinist too but prefer a bow over a gun.

  17. Improvisation needs a buff, if not a rework. I can't count the number of times my static was in E8S and right before the phase change I'd have to KEEP telling my party "Stay in the circle" because everyone wanted to spread out across the 2 circles that separate the light parties, and with how Improvisation works you barely get any Espirt per tick if you don't have 7 people in your buff area, and said area is very small.

There's also the fact that Improvisation stops you from doing any DPS so it's useless in fights without any downtime (in E11S I only have 1 or 2 moments I can use it, and neither one has the full party with me.). Dancer may need a little help in other areas, but Improv is the one skill that needs more attention.

  18. I think the problem with BRD is that a bard and a Bard and an Archer are two very different things
Brian is right, they need to split the class into Bard and Ranger or make it a healer and drop all pretenses of if being a support DPS

  19. I got lvl 80 of each that saying BARD NEEDS HELP, other than that dancer and mch are solid but back to Bard ugh don't get me wrong I love Bard but you're right dancer stole the spotlight and made bard not as uh well functional as it used to be.

  20. For MCH, I'd like to see more robots. Maybe "Automaton King" that can combine with Queen (while active with enough battery gauge) as a super combo that has that "Brute Justice" moment. We know we get a shotgun. That's pretty rad.
DNC is really good imo. Other than a bigger dance that has a larger combo that does more damage/grants larger buff, I think I'd be fine with whatever they add. More benefits for Dance Partner is appreciated.
BRD needs something that will really draw me in. Out of the ranged jobs, it is the one I don't play over the other 2. I still like how each song is its own style change to your gameplay. More iteration on that would get my vote. I'd like AP to be cooler than just 4 stacks of haste. MB (proc spam) and WM (charge shot) I like.

  21. I will always be a BRD main, simply because I enjoy the Job and the aesthetic. Damage numbers and the META don't really matter to me, I'm having fun, so that's my main priority. I am very curious about potential changes to the Job though!

  22. Unpopular opinion: Dancer is a miss in my book, and it is a miss for a big reason that I think Bard is a miss, both job fantasies are music(rhythm) based and yet neither one has a solid rhythm, they are both proc based so there is a lot of rng involved with playing them both. Dancer at least is close, I think to fix dancer: 1 remove the procs, make it more like monk to allow moves to flow into each other to allow the freedom the procs currently allow. 2. Single target fan moves should be melee range single target chakrams long range, aoe skills vise versa since it makes more sense for the wind blast of fans to explode at a distance than the chakrams to be thrown and then aoe. 3 add a back step skill, this will allow with the previous changes to have a 1-2-step rhythm to their play style, even with their aoe combo, always range-range-step in-melee-melee-step out. 4. For the new skills Advanced step that allows you to freely use the for steps to create different finishes, these can be pulled from the dancer job quests, the tutor uses several elemental dance moves that we as of yet cannot.

  23. The whole fantasy of Bards is to support the party with songs… they need to get back to that design philosophy! And as a MCH main I think we’re just about perfect—hopefully we just get some improvements to flamethrower and wild fire!
