  1. on my PC, my keyboard has a numeric keypad and i’ve grown quite comfortable with that. tho my gaming laptop has a similar setup as your keyboard, i’ll have to try these tips out later on!!

  2. I use something similar, 1-5, QERTFG with 5TG being buttons I use less often since they are more of stretch. I have a Sensei 310 and changed the buttons near my thumb to be control and the other to be shift, so now I have control and shift easily and have 3 hotbars no problem. if I need a 4th I'll have to figure something else out.

  3. I like watching your video. Although I use gaming keypad for ff14 one day when my keypad dies out if it does I probably have to relearn how to play ether mmo mouse controller or just keyboard. I’m fortunate enough to have my hori keypad

  4. Thanks for this!
I have a question, I struggle with tab targeting in this game. It never seems to target the thing I think it will. there could be a mob in my face and I have to hit tab like four tabs before it cycles to the thing nearest me. is there a way to fix this?

  5. I never see the tilde key mentioned (the button to the left of 1). I always use it on movement abilities (En Avant, Corps a Corps, Aetherial Manipulation) along with Alt (Displacement, Elusive Jump, Between the Lines). Pressing Al+tilde and doing a backflip just feels nice.

  6. 2 things:

    1. For turning around you can just use legacy movement instead of being a heathen and using standard. Turning with mouse? Disgusting. There is no need to strafe in this game, auto-attacks do not require facing the target! If you don't believe it, go auto a target dummy and face away from it; your auto-attack does not stop. And aside from turning for attacks you can wait a bit to move the camera where you need it.

    2. There are lots of people with ultimate clears who click; just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work. If you are clicking, just make sure to put your clicked buttons in places that work for you so you don't have to make big movements and hurt your wrist or elbow.

Good notes about the controller though; I can't get used to it but it does work really well. Targeting isn't an issue on controller surprisingly too, not just being able to set up the hotbars. Everything about controller is industry-leading IMO.

  7. been playing for a few months now and have basically been clicking the right half of my hotbars but this has convinced me to try using a similar setup, the troublr now will be getting my hand to actually press thr buttons correctly and not instinctively clicking

  8. One thing that helped me keep all of my new key binds straight in my head is changing the layout of my hotbars to look like my layout on my keyboard. Going into HUD layout and setting hotbars 1-4 to 4×3 and mapping it as:
    1234
    QERT
    ZXCF

  9. come back after not playing for like 3 months and I think I am going to change my keybinds to this – I already have the Q/E remapped to a/d but still have the ctrl/alt for the 1-= 4 the 3 main hotbars. I got some of the other extra keys marked up on F keys.

F1 is my mount button F9 is summoning my hotbars for changing classes. F4 is Duty Hello F5 is gg. F12 is set as quick eat food.

  10. This was reassuring for me as a new player in their first mmo, I was wondering if my layout made any sense and now realizing that I already had it setup almost identical to yours solidified my decisions. I use 1-5 QERTFGV, then I use a program called X-Mouse Button Control to turn my 2 side mouse buttons into my CTRL & ALT modifiers. I keep all my oGCD on the same buttons for all classes so it’s second nature when changing classes.

  11. I have been running this style of set up for many years. Long enough I am getting arthritis in my fingers and carpel tunnel. I tried the MMO mice, but my hands are simply too big for them to work. So I went with a standard mouse with two thumb buttons I use for my control and shift. This gives me everything I need and all three rows are just as accessible as any of the others. You could also add a fourth row if you wanted to. Shift on your keyboard, ctrl and alt+ctrl on your mouse. I would highly recommend switching to the modifiers on your mouse and keyboard for all the functions.

  12. I have a mmo Mouse so that sure made button bloat easier but I’m finally realizing I’d make my life easier by utilizing control alt or shift as modifiers lol, also I’m sure many figured out but I would highly suggest putting similar skills to the same keybinds for all your jobs, for example my role actions, gap closers and aoe combos are the same buttons regardless of the job, it really put the stress of getting a new job down when I figured how similar every job and role were to each other

  13. I've heard so many people say "I click, yet it hasn't stopped me from beating Ultimates". Sure you can become proficient at it, but why not adopt a more comfortable method from the get go?

It's like comparing typing with 2 fingers next to using all of them. Both get the job done, but one method is much more efficient and comfortable than the other.

  14. I have a mouse with three side buttons, so I’ve keybound CTRL and Shift on them and it was a game changer.

Unfortunately, have been using the mouse to move and trying to go back to WASD, so this might be helpful!
