  2. It's weird, I remember having one or two small quibbles with something you said during this video, but now that I've reached the end, I can't remember them. The video's great, man! Great work!

  3. I think ARR is not the best, but it does a great job for what it is.
I've never really played mmos, I tried tera and black desert for a bit, but it all felt so damn confusing. Getting a lot of different skills and stats and equipment, all while the story was "yeah, just go to there, kill 3 enemies and return here to get a bunch of materials that you won't ever need" felt incredibly confusing and not satisfying at all.
I was able to get into ffxiv because even if it's pretty rough, ARR lays a good foundation, and it does a good job explaining what happened and what consequences it had, all while slooooowly getting new abilities, so I had time to both learn and care about the world and learn how to actually play, practice on a dummy, run some dungeons or whatever.
I get that if you aren't new to mmos this IS too slow, but I was happy with that

  4. Maybe a minor thing but worth noting, in between your first two attempts and your third one in patch 5.3 they did trim down the MSQ in ARR and the patches afterwards by about 20%, as well as give you flying which makes the patches go a lot faster too. So getting through that experience is quite a bit easier now for any player since 5.3.

  5. "It's not the race to the finishing line." BAM! That right there explains a lot about the people who goes into this game. It took me 6 years to realize this. What I learned most of all is you are role-playing a Warrior of Light but also an adventure. Quite literally you are plucked from the divine as a chosen to start your humble adventure. It's a new life but not a life as in commitment but a new beginning to your story. Treat it as so and you will get the hook.
