FFXIV – How to SCH [Seriously]

Sorry for misspoke on a couple occasions but you get the idea. This is how I heal in FFXIV. I feel like this is really good advice but if you don’t agree that’s totally fair. You can follow me on Twitch via Mirakumi if you need any help.

  1. Thanks for the video. I just started playing FF14 and I’ve fallen in love with SCH (I actually did SCH first, got the wrong impression in dungeons, did CNJ/WHM to L50, then revisited SCH and found the magic of it all). Currently at L57 HW MSQ.

I heard that HW is supposed to be horrible for SCH, but I’ve been having a pretty easy time. I always end the fight with everyone at full HP and myself with full MP. It only goes bad when we don’t know the mechanics and even then, we have so many tools it’s been pretty easy brute-healing through HW content.

Something I need help on: Emergency Tactics and Deployment Tactics. I haven’t been able to figure out how to make these fit in. DT feels awkward since tank Adlo is low priority and the shield is usually gone too fast. If I do Adlo+DT the tank, it’s only going to be melee or no one getting the shield. Succor+DT doesn’t make sense because I only use Succor in prep for an AoE or if I can’t use Indom. If i use Succor, DT won’t do anything. After AoE, there’s no shield left to use DT on.

I find I like playing SCH as mid-range/melee healer since a lot of my abilities are close ranged (personally, I love that playstyle as a former WoW Holy Paladin).

ET I find it hard to know when to use it as Whispering Dawn or Fey Illumination+Succor/Indom handled AoE damage easily. Usually, a pre-shielded team just needs one Succor to heal/shield them and then their regen/Eos/Whispering Dawn gets them back to full with minimal effort from me. The changing the shield part to a heal doesn’t change much for me and usually results in overhealing. The only time I think I found it useful is when I get caught off-guard on an AoE and I have to ET+Succor then Succor, but in the end, I was still using Succor twice it was just my fault for not prepping one when I should’ve.

Should I be using ET/DT more often, or are they specifically supposed to be one of our extremely situational abilities?
