If your a tank/healer the “in need” roulettes are great for some early Gill – 5-9K a run not including any gear you pickup.
And of course exchanging seals for materials to turn into Gill. This is a great early game method.
You can get lucky with Potd also and get some

I actually have a keychain for my blizzard account. Before there were apps, there were these little keychain like devices that are just basically a button and an LCD screen with a numeric layout for your one time password. I used to spend a lot of time in Palace of the Dead, so I set my free teleport there. Currently, I have my free teleport set to a very far out destination that would normally cost 999 gil from my starting location (Gridania).
As I am a member of the Twin Adders, and have sacrificed numerous dungeon gear pieces to the Expert deliveries… I have also purchased (with GCS) many Twin Adder Tickets. I also like visiting the Gold Saucer (who doesn't?) And using the Airship to get there is free. The Gold Saucer to Ul'Dah is Free.
Teleports to residential areas (Mist, Lavender Beds, Goblet and Shirogane) are always going to be cheaper than the main cities as well. If you have a Free Company with a House, that's awesome. My FC has a house in the Mist, so I always have a cheap way of getting to La Noscea/near Limsa Lominsa.
yes, teleporting directly is quicker – but definitely more expensive.
Unless I'm in a hurry or have limited time, I will gladly hire a Chocobo Keep or use the ferries to get from point A to point B. Riding Maps also make your mounts go faster (before they can fly) and I've really learned the zones much better for wandering them and figuring how to travel from zone to zone.
I can confirm you can get away with never touching the Market Board or using any of the HQ MSQ rewards on all roles as long as the lv.45 & 50 job quests are done ASAP. It is worth considering filling out a Weapon & Ring slot with Exarchic Gear as gearing from 5.0 – 5.5 can get very grindy without them tho.
Oh and a thing about poetics- the Road to 70 buff gives the player a number of Silver Chocobo Feathers that can be spent on 50/60/70 gear. It is limited to 2 choices between Weapon or Body + Leg gear but it's free 1200 – 2040 poetics that can be spent as soon as you can find a Calamity Salavager. It's often forgotten about as the game floods the player with info from the start but it helps a ton since lv.50/60/70 will be hit long before the tombstone vendors are unlocked.

Ohhhh, that's what poetic gear is. I was wondering what to do with 2k. Is the weapon better than the job weapon? Because my gear is lv70 (blue) and is taking really good care of me and my team. Lv73 SCH right now.

But I would not recommend these kind of openings. And I would add time stamp, makes it more legit and comfortable for users. If I want to watch again something I tend to give up if there is no time stamp.

You might not see this comment. But something that seemingly a lot of creators are glossing over is just how many free trial players there are. Tremendously more than people who have bought the game that’s for sure. It feels like all the new guides popping up are more so directed towards people who specifically bought the game. For those that don’t know, free trial players can not trade and do not have access to the market board. And the free trial players have seemingly got no attention really, when they are a big reason as to why ff14 is so full of life right now. I think something healthy for the community would be to see more guides thought of and made for people with the limitations of being a free trial player. I’ve lost count of how many people I’ve seen with multiple classes up to level 60 on the free trial. It is a thing and I feel like these players get glossed over too much. Just a thought, whenever I watch guides that bring up the market board I just think of the free trial player who is trying to figure out how to make Gil without it.
Free trial restrictions are
Gil cap of 300,000
You can not send tell, yell, or use shout functions in game
You can not join an FC
You can not form a party on your own (but can be invited to one)
You can not trade with other players
You can not use the market board
You can not use retainers
You can not use mog mail
And you are limited to 1 character per world
I also find getting aetheryte tickets with hunt seals super helpful for saving money! I’ll just do my HW hunts since they’re pretty fast and have a stack of those tickets going at all times!
Note for poetics gear, you need to upgrade your gear once to finish the last dungeon/trial for each expansion main story (I use job quest gear for the free upgrade).
Last night I just finish stormblood and the last dungeon/trial for finishing stormblood has a 280 ilvl requirement where lvl 60 poetics gear only gives 270 ilvl
