FFXIV Healer Main REACTS to Top Healer Videos

One of the best ways to improve at anything is to learn from and be inspired by those who are more accomplished than you in your niche. Today, I react to five of the top Final Fantasy XIV healer videos on YouTube and analyze their videos from both a high end healer perspective and also through a beginner YouTube content creator lens.

  1. at 23:03 – there are two ways to go about this:
Chroma Key – which gets rid of a specific colour, usually green since most people use greenscreens for it's distinct colour. However this has the adverse effect of making the shot of your chroma key'd becomes kinda damp or fadey which can be corrected for.
Masking – which is essentially cropping out parts you don't want to see. You can animate this so that you can crop out an entire background of unneeded things, however this is time consuming as you can potentially have to account for moving objects/characters on a per frame basis – this is why I usually want to work with 30fps footage for that matter.

    For video:

    Masking – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGSpvkPdHYM
    Hope this helps 😀

  2. Fun vid! I think DC may change some things for experiences with others. I have absolutely had single pack tank pullers recently. I even had a single mob tanker.. if it didn't have a tether, it waited in the queue. Longest dungeon in quite a while. I haven't run into any healers who don't dps.. but I have tanked before and had a healer just not heal. That was a sad time in Titania. It was like both healers were playing chicken to see who would cave and heal first. Neither did.

Also, for the effect of her character in front of the youtube screen. Reshade has a chroma feature that makes it easy. You set the depth to where you want it and then just green screen it out. From a post back when on the ffxiv forums, Reshade shouldn't be against ToS because it is a filter/alteration to your view vs the game itself. Similar to using nvidias enhancements or aids for color blindness. Still wouldn't advertise it though.

  3. So glad I found this! It took me a good while to dare to, but I’ve now pretty much turned into a Sage main. Still learning and not yet raiding high end content, but I’m hoping to dare to run Savage soon as well and hopefully as Sage. I spent my first 5 months or so of playing FFXIV only doing DPS (BLM in MSQ and then RPR in 6.2 and onwards) and now I have lvl 90 BLM, RPR, SGE and GNB and feel pretty comfortable on RPR and SGE in regular content or unsync extremes up to Stormblood. I feel starting off as DPS has helped me a lot as I got better at avoiding AOE before being “an essential party member” as it’s not as bad if a DPS hits the floor as if the healer or tank goes down. I’m getting better at slide casting by now as well. Celebrating 7 months in FFXIV in some days time

  4. My fellow co-healer in crime actually misses old Cleric Stance, if you can believe it
They're kind of a masochist (Well, even more so than healer mains typically are, and yes they are a WHM main)

  5. I really liked this video. I recently left the healer role for DPS, but I agree with a lot of what you and Chair had to say. For me, I would love to see XIV try a healer similar to the Holy Paladin in WoW rn. You don't have a full dps rotation, but you use attack abilities to gain charges that you then spend to do big heals. While it's simple enough for anyone to figure out how to play, the skill comes in optimizing your rotation to really maximize the gains while not overcapping.

It just feels like (for me) there's not much optimization for healing, outside of planning mits and heals. Once you have a set plan, and everything is running "smoothly" with your group, you get to spam 1111111 over and over. I realize this might not be the case for everyone, and I'll always be a healer at heart. I just would like to see a little seasoning added to the role.

Either way, you got a sub from me.
