TLOU 2 has a good story? Bro, that's about as deep as those children's books we read at 5 years old, or rather 15 in the case of the author of this article, who apparently can't read.
Personal take: I didn't like the story. I slogged through it, read it, paid attention and just didn't feel invested. I found myself loathing the main characters and wanting them to die off rather than help them. The most egregious being my apparent permanent sidekick Alphinaud. They force-fed him to me so much that I never want to see him again. I will never willingly play through the msq again in this game, but I realize some people like it, it's just not for me. All I wish is the community would stop making it a cardinal sin to just have a difference of opinion.
**SPOILERS AHEAD**
The reading didn't bug me either, but the constant flip flop between non-voiced things and voiced story things drove me nuts. It killed a lot of my immersion because in huge emotional story beats things would happen cough Haurchefant cough and while he is voiced out trying to play on my emotions, his death is completely overshadowed by the fact that my dopey character does literally nothing in the cutscenes ever, and silently bobbles her head like an idiot through his speech as if she never learned to speak. I laughed through that entire scene, which sucks to me.
I mean…I think male Viera is kind of silly given the lore is pretty black and white about their absence… And this game is very story forward, so I do understand why people are kind of upset about that. That said, there is tons of lore breaking gameplay elements already and if it hasn't ruined your immersion so far, I don't think male Viera are going to be the last straw that breaks the camels back.
I mean hell, when my character first met Fran the story was all "Holy crap, a Viera!" and I'm all like thinking back to the past two months of walking around Limsa and seeing at least 40 of them in full view at all times no matter where I was standing. I had a little chuckle.

I, in all seriousness, see game's play nothing more than a typical shonen story with a better written dialogues.
It's basically a Naturo with less steps in one parts and couple extra in another.
I feel that if someone is using Last of us 2 as an example of a good story they have no idea what a good story even is.

I'm no coward, I'll say it. The story of 14 is not that great, it's good enough to not: 'Esc->Skip cutscene' for the first time (Played upto HW). At other times I just lose focus. I hope dialogue options actually have impact on later expansions.
Imagine if Lore was this living, breathing thing that evolves and changes over time as the story and world changes with it. Why wouldn't it be possible for a lore consistent reason for hundreds of bunnyboys coming out of a culture of hiding?
Also, I lowkey agree with the first guy. For large parts, the hype doesn't match the execution for the story – especially in ARR up to the final 1.5hr cutscene.
Me personally I can read and tolerate non voice acted Dialogues ..but only if I am passionate about the Game or the title. In hopes in the end the story does live up to my expectations. But This is very hard for many other people , many would be straight up turned off by a game heavily leaning toward it's story and have many long dialogues to read. It's just not the standards anymore…fully Voice acted should be the standards. None of my friend I tried to get to play the game didn't stick to it because of the fact that they have to read and read and read ..
Male Viera is like that one car you never know it existed and then you almost got run over by one and all of a sudden you see them everywhere in many colors and you get anxiety attack every time you try to cross the street.
So basically the person doesn’t like reading.

The Last of Us 2 has the best story in the industry, where women, who are about to give birth, go on the front line. Truly, the most immersive game ever. Also the best story I've seen in a game has been Umineko. Therefore to imply that dialog boxes are a hindrance is heresy to me.

The lore for male Viera was from FF12. Realistically speaking at some point someone would have met one in the world.

story is great but delivering it veeery bad. Most of MSQ doesn't even have voice acting, characters just stand and nod to each other and that's about it when it comes to expression and animations. I hope they will get more money to work on that and SE won't just pump all those $$$ into Marvel Avengers or other shit like they usualy do.

our character losing to Zenos and Ranjit. (with my interpretation where the game seems to treat it as your WoL doing most of the stuff solo and rarely acknowledges ur party) our character just beat Niddhog, sure eye empowered and all, but u expect me to believe Zenos is even stronger than that? Doubt. And Ranjit? man I'd sooner believe Ryne could take us on with Minfilia's power and experience. Shit i would like to see a version of the story where Ryne is the big bad and brainwashed into thinking she's meant to defeat the warrior of darkness either by the people of Eulmore, or Minfilia's own memories about the warrior of darkness in our own world.
Oh and I'm not against our character losing, I just can't stand seeing our character's being overpowered by humans anymore. As much as I believe it sucks, but they should stick to our character losing cause we were outsmarted like with the crystal braves.
