  1. Really don't care about CDCT. It's unimportant and Yoshida has a reason to be wary mixing cultures because of the strife it could (will) cause. Lol, you think people abuse the report system and send them en masse already? Wait when/if CDCT happens.

  2. I think the best way to handle cross data center gameplay would be entirely opt in on a per data center, per player basis. For example if I decide I want to play with anyone from any region I just check each Data Center in a menu somewhere but if a player in Japan decides they dont want to play with non-Japanese players they just leave all of them unchecked and things will remain the same for them as its always been.

As far as putting old FF games into XIV goes they would have to heavily discount the games (or make it so if you bought the game already on Steam, PS or anywhere else you can just enter a code to get the XIV version as well) for it to make sense. Otherwise you are buying a 20+ year old, single player, offline game and locking it behind online only and a subscription. If you want to take a break from XIV for a few months you lose access to these games (unless they make them playable from the launcher as well). Additionally it would be great if they managed to add a quick resume feature like Xbox has so that you can play while waiting for a queue to pop, pause the game, join queue and come right back to where you left off when you get back.

  3. Cross data centers won't fly unless they implement a system where JP players will be comfortable with. But if they do so with restrictions then it eliminates the point of cross region travel. Maybe a duty finder cross region is better.

  4. If there's 1 thing I wanna see the devs do in 7.0 is getting players more involved with the overworld. We have all these areas in the game, and at least 90% of 'em are dead besides a sprout here an there going through MSQ. Really hoping with this "Expansive Lifestyle" content is exactly that via Hunting, Farming, and Sailing. If there's nothing new to bring us out into the overworld besides the MSQ I'd be pretty disappointed. So tired of everything being bubbled off into it's own instance with little to no overlapping. We need more Overworld content, even if it's just Request Dueling, I'd be happy with that. The rest is just icing on the cake.

  5. Honestly I understand Yoshidas trouble with regionwide DC travel. I personally know some people who actually hate DC travel and aren't even happy with what we currently have. Also there are much more factors to consider than "only culture" acutally, like economy and markets.
If there are some Ideas how to implement the feature, maybe they should do a survey to see how many people from every region actually are interested in DC travel and also ask what they want to use it for. Just getting into more detail how players think about it overall.

  6. Whenever I think of playing a game console in the Gold Saucer, I think of the Gold Saucer in FF7(the original) where you could play 3 different arcade games. They were games made for FF7(2 being the motorcycle run and the snowboarding part), but it was a fun idea of having a game within a game. Maybe that person wants that feel in FF14. Though the Gold Saucer now is more of a casino than an arcade.
    2. I think also it would be like an homage to the Final Fantasy legacy to be able to play 1 in 14. Wouldn't be terribly out of place since a lot of past games are referenced in FF14.
    3. The real answer is, if we put FF1 in FF14, we can essentially play it for "free" rather than buying the remastered version. A whole other game under one subscription( if you subscribe to FF14. If you don't, it would be 2 free games ) Though realistically, it's cheaper just to buy the remastered and have access to it anytime than to sign in to FF14 then go to the Gold Saucer just to play. Don't even get me started on also having save states for each player. I guess an emulator within FF14? Maybe if they made it like the NES Remix game for the Wii U where you had random snippets of the classic games. Defeat the round of monsters they randomly give you and get mgp. That would work a lot better.

  7. Just FYI: This "Famitsu interview" is actually just a translation of an English article that was posted on an MMO website. Article is titled "FINAL FANTASY XIV PRODUCER & DIRECTOR NAOKI YOSHIDA DISCUSSES DAWNTRAIL AND MORE IN PRESS Q&A". Yoshi-P's answers were probably translated by Aimi. Recommend reading that article for a better translation.

  8. And example of cultural differences might be back during the SB launch and Raubahn EX. There was a cutscene for the MSQ everyone got stuck on because too many people were trying to do the same event at the same time and the server could only handle so many, so on western servers people were just crowded around Raubahn frantically clicking, hoping they'd be the next to go. Some lucky players got through quickly, others were left clicking for hours. On Japanese servers, all the players got in a line so they could do it in the order they arrived.

  9. if you ask me they seems to announce expansion way to soon , regardless of the old pattern , a 11-10 month of waiting is abit too much , they should release first fanfest 6 month before release

  10. Considering how incendiary American media can and have been towards Yoshi I think not having them was definitely a good call. They would have tainted the who experience especially considering the setting of Dawntrail, I don't think they could have helped themselves with divisive questions.

  11. On the topic of regional data center travel I don't think the issues they're weighing up are purely about culture in the sense of how pf coordinates raids. They're probably also looking at dynamis and seeing how lots of it's players actually play on other data centers and just go there to buy a housing plot because other data centers in the region have more active party and duty finders, which makes the dynamis problem worse for anyone who isn't effectively on another data center. Oceania is already in a similar spot to dynamis without data center travel. It'd be destroyed if people could go elsewhere for duties. Which would also mean everyone physically in oceania would be forced to play on other data centers with really bad ping – the key thing having a data center in the region is meant to help with.

Cross-regional duty finder matching and party recruitment on the other hand, while it is clearly much harder for them to develop and won't be possible for a while, would improve the issues of differing player activity. Personally, I'd love to see cross-regional DC travel help back until after a cross data center matching system is worked out so travelling is a socially driven thing rather than about efficiency of finding parties.
