  1. the problem with Island Sanctuary, is it is not a community setting. it is not a separate ingame, where you could invite friends to help with farming or take pictures. you are there by yourself and it is very very very very very very very lonely. it would be much better if could connect each everyones islands through an invited.

  2. I think relic weapons should be a trophy-like weapon where it's not easy to get. Shadowbringers has ended up having the best of the best aspects of FF14 it's crazy how perfect that expansion was.

  3. The current Relics don't hold any appeal for me. They just exist. Relics used to be a goal that you set for yourself (they were never mandatory) and you'd make the ones you really wanted. I see that the argument for Tomes is usually "now you can do the content that you want", except no, you can't. They require Tomestones of Comedy, not Poetics, and this means you're locked to 6.x content. 95% of my playtime is in Poetics territory, especially while leveling alt jobs. Id much rather have a new Eureka or Bozja to spend my time in, instead of senseless dungeon grinds that we already do for alt jobs.

  4. I think Yoshi-P isn't seeing the real issue with the relic system this expansion. It all comes down to the fact that they removed a type of content that a lot of people liked (the grindy content). If they removed raiding in the next expansion, would he really be surprised if people were upset there weren't any raids? There are a lot of types of gamers and they have made all the content optional for people who like to engage in that style of content. But, removing the relics from a grindy system like in the past, and not providing a grindy system, is what is really causing the friction right now.

Not to mention, relics were always supposed to be optional, so for them to change the system so more people engage with it is kind of worrisome. More people did relic content than Savage, and more people do savage than Ultimate. So, should they make savage and ultimate so damn easy that anyone can just log in and get the reward, without actually having to do anything special? Where is the sense of accomplishment?

  5. My feedback for relic weapons is to give options. Tomes or running the new exploration zone. That was it will be easier to make multiple and enjoy different content.
Don't care about island sanctuary. Once i heard it would not be the same as instanced housing i lost all interest. I actually am not even sure how to get back there.

  6. I feel like people should have seen Island Sanctuary coming to an end. They confirmed we were getting something similar in 7.X. Not only that, but we don't have much more room to expand Island Sactuary.

  7. I figured Island Sanctuary was dead when 6.4 released and it did not have an all new map like they alluded to. I would lie if I said I'm surprised though.

The problem with IS is that it brings nothing to the game nor does it build on top of anything. It does not interact with your gathering and crafting even though it begs to, it is completely solo so it does nothing for player socialization either, and it is not the instanced housing that people were originally expecting it to would be. It is completely siloed content and does nothing for the game as a whole.

  8. I won’t lie I loved island sanctuary when it first dropped and then I fell completely off for further updates. I look forward to new lifestyle content. No idea what they’d substitute it with though.

  9. As much as I understand their standpoint on making EW Relic weapons easy to get since most players multiclass now–I guess it sort of does cheapen the idea that Relic Weapons are the pinnacle weaponry of an expac if they're just going to make cheaper tome weapons stronger than them.

My suggestion as a primarily solo player, I love the concepts of Eureka and Bozja as well, if they could somehow make zones like those that allow people to finish their relic weapons solo–then I think that's cool. Then offer unique rewards for folks who would want to do a Savage version of those activities or something equivalent to The Baldesion Arsenal. I personally find it a shame that the Baldesion Arsenal requires community coordination, which I think is fantastic, but at this point in time it seems kinda dead or much less active given its immense difficulty and risk. Have like uh.. a Baldesion Arsenal-esque non-canon story lmao. Have the Wandering Minstrel think up a crazy epic lol.

I can't complain much as a Reaper main though since the relic weapon is probably one of the cooler scythes in-game.

What I'm ultimately more upset on is how cheap their explanation is for the tome materials. "Oh, Godbert told us about this thing. Coincidentally we have a stockpile of this universally rare material you need at Rowena's." Couldn't at least have asked us to like "get materials from the moon's core" so we're at least forced to do the Dark Inside normal or something.

  10. I feel you on the periodic events fomo thing, but then again maybe it'll be like the FF15 collab or Seasonal Events where the Fall Guys Gold Saucer activities come back on certain times of the year. Surely sounds like a summer event kinda thing.

  11. A bummer about Island Sanctuary. I fully expected it going down the Blue Mage Route (hype at the start, fail to live up to expectations, get pretty decent revamp a few years later) but this sounds less optimistic

  12. Put my thoughts on the EW relic weapons on the other interview video but, in short, I do agree that a middle ground would be best. Even if just the first weapon took more time/effort it would be a major step up. Still, given that YoshiP is coming up against this question in every interview and will likely keep coming up against it, I hope he at least realizes just how big of a disappointment it is to a lot of people.
While I'm glad IS will be getting more small updates I was really hoping for another, completely different "Island" in the future. We'll have to see what the new "lifestyle content" is going to be. Clearly there were mistakes made in IS, and a lot of people completely (almost deliberately) over estimating what it was going to, but it's a solid enough starting point. I don't want to see it completely abandoned and left in the dust like Diadem was.

  13. The point about "satisfying both desires" for the relic weapons really frustrates me to no end. As you said, the solution already exists: Tomestone weapons.

They have already been satisfying both desires in the past. There is a conflict between intended outcomes as well. They want to make relics be completable through any content and be super accessible, but also make people complete the Hildibrand questline to do just that, which was a valid criticism initially that so many moaned about, but also seemed to miss the sticking point of. They really need to ditch this mindset of making all content for everyone, because they can't even do that right!

For example, I know many will never touch crafting, despite how much they have dumbed down that content. They have been doing the same with job/role homogenization and now relic content. So frustrating to see this decision making pattern from the FF14 team.

  14. We should have options when it comes to how we want to complete relics, a lot of us wanted a Bojza/Zadnor like zone. If you don’t like the grind then do the tomes, that would have been the best solution, balance.
Relic building is my favorite thing to do in game, that’s my raiding, and I’m so dissatisfied with these relics, man.

  15. How about doing the Relic weapons(Tome and Grind) like normal and savage raid gear? The tome relic weapons (both tome and grind) look just alike. But just make the grind relic weapons dyeable and the tome relic weapons undyeable. just a thought

  16. I am one of those who prefers to grind more for relics. Maybe not as much as in ARR (the book part becomes eternal), but I believe in having a favorite job and trying to get the relics for that job, or the ones that look prettier, not even for the stats, just for the glam.

  17. NGL not happy about their direction with Relic weapons and now the removal of Island Sanctuary. Criterion and Variant dungeons need meaningful rewards too. It doesn't feel like they're listening to NA and EU feedback. Just JP.
