  1. I really enjoyed all of endwalker. Sadly that some people can't appreciate the narrative and this people are the loudest on twitter and reddit so it looks like it was many.I mean everywhere i looked the expansion had over 90% good ratings and got 3 awards which 1 was for narrative so can't be that bad some people trying to make it.

  2. Hold up Rook, you ferociously lovable river goddess! Are we already getting another video? Also, my cat enjoys your videos as much as I do, because that means I will be sitting still and she can get so many pats.

  3. I have always thought they described the "not changing the future" bit incorrectly. Elidibus should have said "You WILL NOT be able to change the present no matter what you do in the past."

  4. Venat interestingly translates to loosely Venus in Japanese, though its alot more apparent in the Japanese local. Her characterization in Elpis really solidified her as one of my fav characters in ff14 so far 😀

I would also love for them to add the glowing eyes as a customization option. Cause after all, eyes are the window to the soul~

  5. I've been waiting for you to meet HER for the last 6 months! Your reaction certainly did not disappoint, now I'm just dreading watching you experience "the walk" D:

  6. I wait with baited breath for each of these to come out. I love watching your journey, and I love hearing all your theories and emotions as you tackle this incredible story. And don't worry, you've shed way fewer tears than I <3

  7. Venat's line "Has your journey been good? Has it been worthwhile?" literally just broke me into a million pieces. I just sat and sobbed for a good 10-20 minutes. Because I didn't feel it was only addressed to my character, but also to me, the player. And all I could do was just think back on the past nearly 12 years that I've been playing FF14, from all the way back to those early days of 1.0 to now. And just how much that I experienced — both good and bad — from my journeys on Etheirys. There were bad days – pain and struggle and frustration, but there were so so SO many good ones too – days full of joy and laughter and love and the so many friends I made along the way.

FF14 as a whole – through all of its best and worst moments – has been a life altering journey, and I never want to forget any of the times I've had with it.

  8. The voice actor for Venat is Joanna Roth, who also voiced Aveline Vallen in Dragon Age 2. It took me until this portion of the game to figure out who it was I was hearing. It was such a treat to hear her voicing another amazing character!

  9. I love that WoL just goes for it and tells them everything. It's a pretty big sacrifice – s/he has to realize she may never go "home" again by doing this. But the trust in Venat, perhaps, is enough to dare to hope.

EDIT: When I played through this and Venat refers to this certain sense of a force without, perhaps fate, holding them all in its hand, I replied in character: "we always thought that was you"

  10. 2:51 I think Hermes here is right about ancient society. Even though it seems like a paradise, it's focus on perfection and service was its own undoing. From what we see in Elpis they place no inherent value in just being alive– everything must be in service to the star.

  11. Emet-Selch's line here about perceiving aether, in French he more specifically mentions that he can only watch either the aetherial realm or the corporeal one, not both at once.

Even though this is part of their culture, the way that archivist goes on about anticipating Venat's return to the star struck me as rather cringe. It kind of feels like the sort of thing you don't bring up about someone else unless they mention it first.

I would say this game is one of the better examples of the wonders and improbabilities of how far we've come. We have come to both reflect upon the meaning of life and present this reflection in artful media that makes it more easily accessible and relatable. This particular line made me realize just how incredibly similar the Ancients were to us. Apart from having more aether and greater abilities for creation, they lived mostly the same as us: day-to-day jobs that contribute to the betterment of their society, as well as friends, loves, children, fears, worries, troubles, doubts and sadness. The overall function of their society was somewhat different, but otherwise, they shared many common traits with us, including not knowing everything about the world.

  12. Oh. My. Goodness. Rook. These quick releases! Thank you so much!
It was a joy to watch you geek out over Venat this evening and end it by crying into my dinner! It has been such an amazing adventure, this game means so much to me.
I literally cannot wait to watch your reaction to the scene at the end of this zone. We have very similar feelings about Answers and Venat and I'm just so excited to see you make that connection!

  13. It's funny. A lot of people broke down when Venat asked us that question. Same with at the end, with Thancred. It really makes one reflect on their journey, but in game and out, and I'd like to believe that it's made us a little wiser as well. A beautiful tale for sure

  14. I've said it before but you are quickly becoming one of my favorite FF14 streamers for just how much you care about the lore. Its amazing to watch.

Also Hermes fatal flaw is becoming obvious and its SO well written because you sympathize with him and understand even if you want to shake him and tell him to grow up.
Especially since it simply seems to be the mirror image of a general flaw in the ancients, naturally springing from their near limitless power and utopia.

But to discuss this now before the next couple of episodes would of course be spoilers if anyone have not played it themselves:-)

Emet at the reveal meeting shows the same just from the more common perspective.

  15. Also, does Venat being a previous holder of the seat of Azem, and our nominator not just explain EVERYTHING about her actions since even without knowing anything else!

Also why Emet is so grumpy about the whole thing:-)

The reason I moved on you can always keep in mind, is that if you don't, all Venat/Hyedalyns suffering, pain a labor will have been for naught and that would be more cruel to her than I could bear.

  16. "Can we sneak something into the concept" – that feeling when you realize that both Zodiark AND Hyedalyn could very well have been influenced in their nature by your actions here during the time since.
