PLD is the EW cover job because in the debut SNES installment to the FF franchise, FF4, the main protagonist Cecil begins the game as a DRK and changes to PLD later, so since ShB had DRK as the cover job for an FF4 call back they decided to go with PLD for the following expansion. FF4 doesn't have a job change system though, the cast are set in their jobs/roles but its a narrative shift for Cecil. The moon likewise features prominently in the lore for FF4.
