FFXIV: Emotionally REKT by Endwalker – Reaction to "Sage Council" (Urianger) *SPOILERS*

*SPOILERS* Final Fantasy 14 Feelswalker strikes again. Voice acting through emotion is hard, but I did my best here. The parents of Moenbryda return and hit Sebbywebz with a beeg sad emotional reaction. Loporrit Livingway also shows up to ruin the scene with the voice Iโ€™d given her earlier (I aim for consistency).

  1. Everyone talks about how Endwalker has so many worrisome and depressing moments causing emotion, and because of the nature of the story I was wholly ready for and almost inoculated against those. I shrugged off most of Ultima Thule because there was no way "everyone goes away forever" the way they were successively volunteering to do so…

…But this moment was the one that got me, and it's proof that you don't need to have more "important deaths" for the sake of "stakes" to foster an emotional connection to the game. There were people calling for a red wedding of marquis deaths this expansion so that Endwalker would "emotionally matter," but if we learned one thing from Endwalker it was that that absolutely isn't needed to "feel something" for the game.

As always, Sebby, your voice acting is so dead on! You're so good at conveying the mood whether it's silly or heartfelt! Keep up the great work, man!

  2. This one hit me hard too. This whole expansion did in general, but I feel that Urianger had a lot of time for us to get closer to him, and that it made me appreciate him so much more than ever before.

  3. God this scene break me in many ways and it still does even to this day.

And it infuriates me that I can't get my friends (who are big in emotional single player story games) to play FFXIV just because "It's an MMO" and too busy playing Genshin Impact.

  4. This hit me as hard as the Seto scene. Felt it in the pit of my stomach just as much as it tugged at the heart. Finally thigh-mommy got the send of she deserved and Urianger the closure he needed.

  5. Man, the first time through, with the original VA's, I was completely distraught and ugly crying through the whole thing once Thancred said they were her parents.

You did a bloody fucking FANTASTIC service to this with your own vocal performance, Sebbs. I'm crying all over again, fuck. <3 Bless you mate.

  6. I finished the MSQ on the third day of early access, and that last day, was the most stressful day ever, because of all the feels. This is one of only a handful of scenes that will probably always get me. No matter how many times I see it. The voice acting, the emotions, it is one of the best done scenes in a video game, I have ever seen.

  7. I suppose through so many hard hits that FFXIV had given me over the years I was just expecting all the body checks, but this one was the sudden hit to the guts I wasn't expecting. Not going to lie I cried my eyes out, I'm so glad that out of all the people who needed a hug over the years, it was for Urianger who they finally figured out the way to make it work for

  8. These kinda scenes always hit me more than the deaths they are about. Didn't cry for Hauchebro, but seeing his father's reaction broke me. Didn't cry for Moenbryda, but this scene wrecked me. The deaths are always hard but it's seeing what a huge effect that leaves on the people still alive that always seems to hurt the most.

Really well done, scene. I'm glad I get to watch all the scenes I missed you do live on here. I look forward to all of your uploads.
