FFXIV – Duty Roulettes • Astrologian POV • gameplay & chill

Heya. c:

Just some more Final Fantasy XIV gameplay for you!
This time I’ve tried doing live commentary (I am not very good at it yet!) for a day of Duty Roulettes from a healer’s point of view. I had a lot of fun (always do), and I hope you like watching it.
Please let me know what you think about this style of content – I’m absolutely open to suggestions and recommendations!

Stuff:
00:00:00 – Intro
00:03:12 – Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Level 16 Dungeon)
00:22:42 – The Steps of Faith (Level 55 Trial)
00:30:36 – Baelsar’s Wall (Level 60 Dungeon)
00:54:28 – The Grand Cosmos (Level 80 Dungeon)
01:19:48 – Someone’s Relict (Level 80 Dungeon)

Thanks so much for watching, y’all are awesome.

  1. You mentioned your microphone was picking up a lot of your clicks and stuff. If you have a newer NVIDIA GPU, maybe give NVIDA RTX Voice (also in their broadcast software) a try. I sometimes use it during meetings and my really fussy boss never mentions my keyboard anymore. I'm sure there's other things you can use if you have an older GPU (which who can fault you at the prices of GPU these days).

  2. I think SCH is the only healer that still has a use for the first cure they get, as it has more cure potency (400 vs 300) if you're not needing to shield.

I find it interesting how with Steps of Faith nobody bothers with cannons or dragon killers anymore. Also, the person who "died out of range" wasn't dead they had disconnected.

PLDs take less damage by default, at least in theory, because of blocking with their shield. In practice, PLD has less mitigation cooldowns than any other tank and their self heal isn't part of there damage rotation or OGCD like the rest of the tanks.

I can hear "Heal me" if I listen for it, but definitely not going to get stuck hearing it. And definitely mispronouncing Thav-nair-ian. You'll hopefully learn it in EW at least, since we're going to Thavnair.

Least favourite enemies are any of the mecha stuff. I like my fantasy mech free.

I prefer the Eureka relics (and the grind for them) to the Resistance ones.

    That fight was Sloppay.

Is there a reason for jumping? I feel like it's something the specifically WoW players do, but I could be wrong.

The thing you're running away from is a cleave not a proximity. You did like half of them correct, I suspect it's because of how your camera was and didn't see the line to get behind.

I don't tend to run around while idle, I usually just stand outside my FC's house.

Brooms are pretty easy mechanic to avoid that a lot of people can't avoid.

Tanks pulling stuff out of ground aoes (Earthly Star, Asylum, Sacred Soil, Doton) such a pet peeve.

I definitely forget/don't think about changing partners with DCs.

Definitely not time to do 3 seeds because of the time it takes to do the pick up/set down animations.

I'm at the point where I can't get exp anymore and the only reason for me to do roulettes is for Tomestones of Revelation for gear, and even then I'm pretty much done as much as I'm going to do. When I was still levelling thus though, was definitely doing all the roulettes I could for that sweet exp.

As long as you don't care about optimal damage, melee dps is pretty easy. I just hate positionals.

I enjoyed both this and your previous video. I think the only thing about this was how long it is, you might want to consider breaking it up into several shorter videos.
