FFXIV Dawntrail Benchmark Job Actions

Final Fantasy XIV’s upcoming expansion Dawntrail just released a new benchmark trailer which displays some of the actions we will see in the near future. Here I discuss what we see and what they likely are. I can’t pronounce abilities worth crap, sorry.

  1. Sam and Reaper are in the same vein imo, with reaper getting an aoe equivalent to communio and communio being made single target, with samurai getting the same treatment for ogi namikiri

  2. for pld, i think it is req upgrade into conal aoe like how they did with spirit within.
drk for me it very look like to be full normal combo upgrade as it is snuck in whm and sch part, it look to be stab(whm part we see stab) into cross and huge downward slash(the same time as sch use something look like to be aoe chain strategem).

mnk i think it is twinsnake's upgrade, and rpr is that aoe version of ogcd in shroud but changed to no longer be conal.

  3. Great analysis and slowed down clips. I feel like there's less than EW benchmark but interesting to dig into at the very least. Feels like a lot of traited upgrades again, which…. yeah, okay.

  4. That Summoner skill reminds me of the old Shadowflare skill. I wouldn't be shocked if they brought it back and changed what it actually did, it certainly appeals to my nostalgia if that's the case. 4:16

  5. NINs "new" ability is definitely a trait for Hellfrog Medium. Looks cool but most likely wont see use outside of dungeons/adds if it's just a potency and animation upgrade. Still looks cool though

  6. PLD's is almost definitely just upgraded Requiescat with AoE splash ala Spirits Within to Expiation. That skill isn't activated by req; it's part of it, because current Req's animation is two movements: it's a raised sword to the sky to call lightning, then a downward chop that stops just a little above the ground and throws a ball of lightning at the target. Literally only difference between that and the benchmark is that the benchmark animation has the downward chop slam all the way to the ground with a cone that has lightning tendrils.

  7. My thoughts on the BLM, it didnt have a normal cast time, which makes me think of Foul/Xenoglossy, but the thunder effects also lead me to think its a possible thunder upgrade specifically when you have a thundercloud proc
