FFXIV Dawktrail Benchmark – Lore Reaction

Lost all my video footage on this one and could only salvage the audio, so I’m sorry for the weird editing toward the end. But all in all I’m excited to test my PC against the Benchmark when it comes around. Lemme know what you think of the trailer as well down in the comments bellow, and don’t forget to subscribe for the future lore content!

  1. If we were to look at the colibri and where they seem to pop up, it is a species that seem to live in and around tropical jungles and costal spaces. Just like some species of irl tropical birds. So if you want to give a zoological explanation for them, it would be, "these birds are of the same family as the colibri of the isle of Vylbrand but they have lived and evolved in a separate geological location." It is most likely that the original species had migrated to either Tural or Vylbrand and began to grow and adapt in their new home. The color difference is likely caused by the same phenomena flamingos have. The stuff they eat has something in it that their bodies break down and deposit in their feathers.

  2. 12:00 I'm almost willing to bet that some of the few seafarers and pirates just brought those birds with them as typical "pirate parrot" stereotype. and form there they just spread througout parts of Eorzea.
Captain Madison also has a small colibri to fit the stereotype lol

  3. it seems like whm will go back to it’s cnj roots in dawntrail! the weapon is very nature-themed, and the, what i’m assuming is upgraded medica II, with the petal effects is very pretty.

  4. Can you elaborate on what you meant by the limit break are not using dynamis? I thought that was the explanation given this very expansion. If anything it can be a bit of a retcon sure, but it’s gotta factor into it somehow.

  5. I think the Dawntrail Benchmark releases tomorrow sometime! I agree about the WOL's face! He went from a masculine man to an anime boy! I see people using the Expansion Fantasia to remake their player characters! Some people have already said that this update is horrible & they are massively disappointed! I'm not, I am stoked for everything Dawntrail!

  6. I would strongly assume that the ability of flight is completely unavailable to Spoken without the use of transformative magic like Shiva's or a mount that can do so. I base this around the fact that even Hermes, head researcher of avian creatures in Elpis, was unable to fly without assuming his transformed mantle.

As a rule of thumb, if the Ancients could not do it, our shards don't stand a chance of doing it either.

(Also, phenomenon for the singular, phenomena for the plural, or Montichaigne will dock you points on a correct answer.)

  7. I would like to make a case for Limit Break lore: They are aether. Pure, unadulterated, collected aether, focused forwards into a single burst of power. At the same time, I don't think the Endsinger going "Dynamis?!" is exclusively because of the location we fought her in.

What if they are mutual forces? Think of a laser. Aether, is the light. The raw power behind it all. Without the light, nothing much can be done at all. Dynamis is merely a focusing lens – a resilient element at the heart of it all. The omicrons muse over the fact that organic beings the universe over garner an untold amount of strength from adversity, drawing strength of untold proportions when you kill their loved ones (which leads to the whole "My Beloved" experiment).

So what if Dynamis is merely something that gives the aether direction and focus – and therefore *impact*, much like how a red mage focuses their conjury and thaumaturgy into precise rapier combat for maximum impact? Going back to the laser analogy: You can achieve the same result as a focused beam by giving the unfocused beam more energy – or more aether. You cannot, however, make a laser work by creating the best focusing lens ever made and stuffing it in a dark box.

  8. It would be funny if the colibri (the tucan like bird) came from tural and was brought from the first expedition there as bird pets, escaped and became a plague on lanoscea since then (kinda like parrots became a plague in my city that is on a desert wasteland)

  9. I love my lunch box and so happy dying weapons can dye it.
Lore and game play well as the perfect being once said. GIMMIE! GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!
As for the graphic changes. The skin still sets off my uncanny valley. Not to the level it did when we got the first preview but it still feels like a down grade. Yes they move better but they feel more like skin suits then the art style they had. But I still want those upgrades so new people aren't scared off by the age of the game.

  10. My theory on how similar Species can be on completely different Continents – some Ascians did it to cause another Calamity by introducing invasive species. Or trying to. Or jff. I am sure they got bored a lot and they definitely had the means to pull something like that off

  11. As I was examining the trailer myself at 1/4 speed, I counted 4-5 different people wielding what appear to be The Ogre, Zidane's thief sword formed by synthesizing two Mage Mashers together. Now they could have been in the hands of Dragoons, as none that I spotted were shown using any techniques, but I find it more feasible to be Vipers.

Can we talk about the bow that the Bard was using in the Autarch battle?! It's a literal electric guitar strapped to a bow frame! GIMME! Also I am in love with in-game hair down Wuk Lamat and her waving with both hands after our meeting with the big-eyed person. So cute!

  12. The vessel would be appears to be crafts similar to something used by vikings The transporter is on board. with his goods, It is implied he makes this trip enough. He would not be here if it was not viable., All waters can be dangerous, knowing the waters and knowing when to sail is just as important,i

  13. 11:33 we had a mass migration/diaspora of species (especially birds) after our own world flood irl. tho it happened over a much longer span of time in our world, as the waters receded, certain species made their way to new lands. i pretty much assume that a mix of animal trade and a mass diaspora of species after the 6th Umbral Calamatiy are the lore reasons for the model recycling people are referring to. how did parrots end up in England? why are there finches in alpine Rocky Mountain states, but also in the tropical Galapagos Islands? ice froze and thawed, water rose and fell. landscapes changed. creatures adapted or moved. i did not think it was a huge mystery.

  14. This is just a thought. But there are many different types of the same animal all over.
Do you know how many different types of seagulls there are? And at first glance you can't tell the difference.
And don't even get me started on Kittywakes. The seagulls inposters. 😆

  15. I think that some of these skills are brand new and others are upgrades, stuff like the Thunder spell that the Black Mage uses looks like an upgrade to Thunder IV meanwhile the move that the Red Mage used looks rather unique, perhaps some kind of debuff
