Now, this is off the top of my head, but if I had to somehow salvage the mess her "character" is….I would say she is suffering from undiagnosed mental illnesses.
Severe bypolar disorder and similarly severe PTSD. The two working in conjunction to cause episodes of reckless actions, paranoia and lowered empathy. The constant conflict and the added responsibility of being put in a leadership position did not help. That's why her condition further worsened after her promotion.
Now this would require further workshoping and further research into the subject of mental illness to avoid unfortunate demonisation of the mentally ill, but if done with some ability and grace by somebody other than Blizzard….maybe doable….
Her plot armour is so strong, that she's easily forgotten.
What is a sylvanas? does it exist? does it have a goal? does it "serve" any purpose?
Sylvanys used to be a victim of Arthas who wanted revenge for having her homeland destroyed, being killed, and being enslaved as an undead. She became a one dimensional super villain somewhere along the line though.

– guy who knows all the lore about Wow. That's a good description of the games story telling lol. Her character makes little sense to me at this point lol
I'd like to meet Pyro, I feel like we could talk for hours because I catalogue the games lore almost religiously. I'm my FC's go to expert on how aether works
tbf, he hasn't known for an expansion and a half cause he didn't read 5 books, listened to 2 CDs, leafed through one story book for children and one picture book, and last but not least not even Sylvanas knows who she is let alone her own sisters
This hurts even as someone who doesn't play WoW and only knows Sylvanus in passing and through HotS. It feels like there was such a great story here, everywhere in this game to be told. A rich environment to be thoroughly taken care of. Then it just.. wasn't.
Imagine if FFXIV shared that same fate.
