I personally won't ever use someone else's ui, but I appreciate you and your content Sir Quazii. I found you when I was learning M+ tanking, and your presentation, attitude, and respect towards your viewers and the games you showcase are top notch. ๐
Collapsing bars ftw
addons being technically against the ToS for XIV has made for a pretty different environment for other games- not that they aren't used but since you're not really supposed to talk about them means there's a lot more like, private discord mod swapping and stuff and so on. I think that's fine, because I know of mods helping people with disabilities and accessibility issues play the game, but even if a mod helps you as a raid caller or whatever i'm fine with that. That said, the influx of new players from WoW has raised interest in mods which is a bit worrying that it might inevitably attract more attention from SE, of course.
I like the transparent icons trick tho, very cool.
I have my numberpad minus key bound to hud layout 4, and all my jobs have a macro to different "hud layouts" the job hotbars are shown on layout 4, but not on the others, so when I hit num-minus, I see all my jobs in a "menu" hotbar in the middle of the screen. When I select a job, the macro puts a hud layout depending on which job I select. (Different preferences depending on how well I know the job)
Have you try play with joystick? Is so good in ffxiv, sometimes i even play with the UI turned off, just muscular memory โค๏ธ
I'm so glad you did one of these! I used your UIs in WoW so I was hoping you would do the same for FF14 ๐
How quickly they grow! It was just yesterday that Quazii was a new sprout just trying the game out, and now he's doing UI guides!
btw you can turn off displaying quest log in instanced duties for even less clutter: Char. Config. > UI > HUD > "Hide duty list during instanced duty".
I am a mouse clicker so most of the UI presented to me would be incompatible. I know, some may said ew to that but I have you know, I have cleared every extreme and savage raids in FF14 since 2013 maintaining between top and 2nd dps in the party.
I've notices (ex) WoW players like to put everything in the middle of the screen lol
Ohh I didn't know about the hidden hotbar, nice trick ๐
This is really useful and I'll pass it on to my FC. I heal on controller, which obligates me to use a somewhat chunkier UI allocation and a different series of priorities, but I should think critically about how I handle my UI and make it tidier for combat, since I just use the same UI for everything.
This is what I have done for years. Minimal eye movement. It's proven lateral eye movement is so much easier to manage uptake of information. Also vision is a large oval of periphery. Meaning the lateral view is larger.
Desperuis FFXIV did a great video about collapsing hotbars. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe-Gz_4fZcI&t=0s Goes a step further than the hidden hotbars. ๐
