The FFXIV team put out a new lodestone article on 29 October 2021, clarifying some of the misconceptions that people have with regards to some of the prohibited activities in the game, especially around communicating with other players, and giving advice to other players.

Nice
"I don't like the color blue, because it reminds me of the sky."
So bold, yet so true.
Your friend arthars in trouble
The nature of the toxic casual community within FF and how it’s now acceptable to be shit as long as you’re having fun. This change of policy has given them a weapon they can use when being called out. There’s a strong difference between being a dick and actually pointing out they’re underperforming. Unfortunately no tone is gonna change that this is a weapon now
Players can't use haste because customer service and PR teams need it more.
There exists a class of people who think if they are giving feedback and they're right, they can be as rude as they want.
What emote is that?
Of course, giving advice is OK. Otherwise, I would've been banned already.
I'm so used to Foxclon nickname (like YoshiP) that I forgot his real name when you mentioned him. I was like WHO is that? Lol
I dont really get the issue here.
These are the same rules as before just formulated out, because there must be some ppl out there without common sense and behaviour who searched and used loopholes.
wont stop salty wow players from spreading the lie that just giving advice or calling people meanie heads will get you immediately banned,
Just be nice and there will be nothing to worry about XD
BTW love your t-shirt Kakashi and Naruto <3
Legit, just don't be an asshole. That's all it boils down to, and FFXIV is not a game for assholes, period.
I don't like the color orange, because it reminds me of my pet gold fish that died.. it makes me so sad.
um…this is way too over speech policing territory.
Like in example 1, I would agree that it is a violation to force someone to use something from 3rd party or something.
But if I say,
"we can only beat this raid by using the strat's guide, so stop doing that and keep dying.".
BOOM BAN….that's just no.
I love how square is like if you want to buy a clear YOU must advertise…… YES lets see who you are!!!! xD
Like the article says, the only rules they have actually added are the two regarding Party Finder (no advertising clear sales, no listing stuff in the incorrect categories). All the other rules have been the same for years, they just added examples and more detailed explanations for the sake of clarification. If you weren't getting penalties before, you won't get any now. Most likely a lot of people have never read the prohibited activities article before and got freaked out about it. They aren't ironclad laws, they are just guidelines for proper behaviour and you're not going to get penalties unless you're actually being nasty and get reported.
One thing I think they could improve on with the conduct/penalty system, is that if you get sent to GM jail for breaking the rules and have to talk with a GM, they won't actually tell you what specifically you got reported for. They might tell you what rule you broke, but they won't say which specific word or phrase or action got you penalized, which can make it hard to know what exactly you did wrong and stop doing it. I have heard the reason they do this is to stop people from identifying or retaliating against the player who reported them, so I dunno, maybe it's a difficult balance.
In communities I moderate, I always try and get a catch-all rule of “don’t be a dick” put in and this feels similar. You can’t ever rule out everything explicitly, but you can get across that you have a general expectation of folks being decent to each other
Hey Quazii, just curious where is the background of this video? I don't recognize this place in FFXIV at all.
Its sad your finel fantasy piece of crap has to resort to becoming a police state in order to not be overwhelmed by assholes and profiteers. I think ill keep to guildwars or just do something else.
