  1. Oh man, I absolutely love how THE DAY this video came up. I saw that Obivos Milk rised in price by like 200%. Because people wanted to make Gil like he did but didn't do the thing he suggested was do Market Research and just copied him.

And whenever I hear people talk about getting into the Market Game, I had to ask "Did the British do this to you?" They always said Yes.

It's all in good fun though. I'm still poor with 20 million though.

  2. yes he is using 3rd party tools to get an advantage, but so is EVERY 3rd party tool. To get an advantage in any way or form. So either ban every single 3rd party tool ( but that would prolly kill the game in the long/short run) or just admit that this player found an easy way to get the gil with the least amount of effort available. without buying it from gilsellers ofc. Like Desperius mentioned a scam, yes, but in broad terms THAT is everything in economics now. Cuz you pay an inflated price for everything. Enough demand? price go up ALOT, cuz the supply is (artificially or not) lower.

  3. I lucked out and got my second raptor mount from Zabnor Dal raid and sold it for 7 million Gil. Second highest was 1.5 million Gil for an outfit that came from doing maps.

  4. I’ve went from almost 3 mil to 15 mil just marketboard flipping. Like it or not unless you’re a crafter, this is a very smart method. You shouldn’t be forced into one way of making money. The truth of the matter is, if there’s flaws in the game, players will exploit it. You basically sign up for this by partaking in the market at all. Doing crafting just simply doesent appeal to everyone. Marketboard flipping passively to make Gil let’s me play the content I want to play while still making money

  5. I saw someone try and fail to do this on Aether. They tried to corner the burger market by buying out the entire servers burgers and supplies that were under 2000gil. On raid day the prices had already crashed back down, there are too many crafters on this server for that scam to work.

  6. This guy is demonstrating the destruction caused by thsoe who "play the AH" and flip prices to jack up prices .. if the game didn't allow purchases off the AH to be relisted this MMO-wide problem simply wouldn't exist and the price-gouging scum would have to perhaps play the game without being ass-hats.

  7. So Spiffings video summarized
Step 1. Have a friend buy out a end game crafting item in the data center,
    Step 2. Undercut your friend.
Step 3. Profit as your friends loosing out on money. (This is important for step 4)
Step 4. Say your friend made 400 Mil whilst out competing him the entire time and claim to make 8mil whilst not showing receipts.

  8. Regarding using external market database to view items on other boards, I've used those before but not in the way Spiff is using, I typically use them to find which market is selling a certain high value item for cheap, and very often the data on these items is outdated so I need to go to every server to check anyway. The most profitable thing to do in my opinion is to look for the market blind spot, there are a ton of items from prior expansions that are relatively easy to craft that can net you a ton of gil, an other lazier thing you can do it to break large stack into exact amount required but at a higher cost. For example the crafting quest requires you to build 6 item and you'll need X amount of a material to build all 6, so what you can do is break a large stack in stack of X at a higher cost and people will buy it because they would rather pay a bit more per unit to get exactly what they need then to pay overall more gil to get a large stack at a cheaper per unit cost.

  9. Biffa is pretty clever with his exploits videos (plus he is a great entertainer). But on this one, he did nothing out of the norm for anyone that has played the game for maybe more than 20 levels.

  10. All the add on does is show you the prices on other servers right? i mean isnt that the same as just traveling to that server and looking on the MB manually? yeah its an add on but its not like you can just do the same thing ingame right?

  11. The OG video was funny, but it's full of misinformations and half-truth. Like, yes it works. If you're on the correct server at the correct period, which is already conditional enough. I feel there is a fine line to thread for this type of comedy, like it's only as funny as it is true. So while the form was entertaining, the substance was…pretty superficial, if I'm honest. It was all "hum, yes, I'm so good at this, look at the obvious flaws I'm exploiting", and while yes, the flaws are here, and yes, you're exploiting them, and yes, it is funny, in the end, you achieved…what, 10 millions? That's not impressive at all. Now, I would have loved to see how the other guy made 400 millions, THAT is a more impressive number, but sadly, this ain't what the video is about, probably because to make such money, you indeed need to already be deep into the market, which means you are in fact playing the video game, just not in the same way than most people (same can be seen in every single MMOs, some people enjoy the fantasy of being a trade dealer without, you know, actually ruining other people's real money), which is against the pitch of said video.

  12. Yeah, he said "You can do this on the free trial." Uh, no, no you can't. You can't use the marketboard or hire retainers in Free Trial. They locked all social activities (except for crashing someone's house party) behind a paid sub because they knew that someone would try to destroy the economy without paying for the game. ;p

  13. Oh man that method seems like a nightmare….I wonder how much time he was doing that.
Imagine the surprise of getting x99 materials with 2 people every 5 minutes at 0 gil cost. I have my small niche where I make about 2M a week, i'm so comfy here I have a retainer with 40 spaces of that sellable thing, I only refill it at this point. I'm very grateful with my gf for being a BTN/MIN and farming stuff with me.

The only thing that pisses me off is when there's that guy who changes the market from 60k per piece to 14k and floods the market with 9-15 spaces of that same thing, ruining the market just because, so I have to change to one of my back up plans. At this point i'm just lazy, I just want a passive profit and not intervine almost never

  14. I spend like an hour farming in the diadem and make 500k Gil in a day just off that. I know I had to level a gatherer and play the game but still there is so many faster ways to make gill. Have an Omni crafter friend that sales furniture and makes about a million a day on furniture

  15. My go To Tip is: Craft everything from your Crafting Books. That way you learn what low level items and what intermediates are still worth crafting and make Millions while researching what still might work on your server. And diversify your stock afterwards.

  16. I think you did not understand the point of the video, of course, there are way more efficient ways to make money but the idea is making this money with literally no playtime, he logs on for 10 min and logs off, the whole idea is time is more valuable than anything else.

  17. To be fair, the 3rd party tool could be replaced with tabbing out to a website like Universalis, and that is not against the ToS.
Also with NQ items, if it's to equip retainers it doesn't really matter, because it's the same iLevel, right?

  18. Spiff is great. He doesn't do this to ruin the game. He does this to show it is POSSIBLE and even kinda funny. Not the best method or fair method. It's just in good fun.

  19. It's really not a scam though. The technique he is demonstrating is valid and does work, and it's far less speculative than you make it out to be. This is actually a really good way to make gil without the time investment of gathering and crafting. Time is money friend, and even without the plugin, this is better gil/hour than gathering. Even better you can do this, then go gather/craft.

  20. Personally I don't think it's a scam. He really using real world tactics on a game and providing a service to the players for a profit. About add-on, well you may call it a scam but it's freely available to anyone and it's not creating items out of thin air, only saving time to help you to make informed decisions about your market transactions. Again wat he did is a SERVICE and if other players are too lazy to do it it's their loss. On a topic of credibility of Spiff, his entire channel is dedicated to show exploits in games and I tried some of them in other games and they work (anless devs care enough to fix it after).

  21. That's not actually cheating, why do you call it cheating? Unless I'm mistaken, happy to be corrected.

PS: now you called it a scam lol… when economics look alien 😊

He is "importing" and bringing the item in question to a lower price to his own server, the consumer benefits, the seller benefits, the market benefits as well as it becomes more competitive at lower prices.

How is this cheating and scamming?

  22. Spif made a 32minute entertaining video about using the FFXIV market board like every other MMO's market board. Unlike most games, FFXIV's market and economy has no impact on over 50% of the playerbase and another 45% that interact with the market board will not even notice the price of that type of item changed. It is so easy to make gil that we actively buy things 1000x the price because we value our time over the cost of the item.

You made a 54 minute video that included the entirety of Spif's video. You transformed the content well in some parts, while others you left it just running for over 5 minutes at a time without so much as a grunt.

I normally enjoy your content. I liked spif's video. I Disliked this video. You fulfilled the legal requirements of transformative content, but I still felt like I was only rewatching spif's video that kept being paused.

Stop spewing nonsense like whatever that webpage was as an unfair 3rd party advantage. It has negligible impact on the game. Do not group this into the same category as a PVP exploit program that enables you to force all players to detarget you mid combat or game automation like the bots in Eureka.

  23. Though the video wasn’t great it did point out a couple of things that are useful to know and to think about when selling/buying on the MB. Anyone who has actually played knows there are huge holes, I think the point was mostly to be entertaining and not really informative

  24. I like Spiff a lot in general but yeah this one doesn't hold up to scrutiny if you're at all familiar with moneymaking in FF14. I don't think that he cheated or did anything shady or anything, but I think that he got carried by his mega rich friend in a way that wasn't made entirely clear by the video. It sucks that some people made bad investments as a result, maybe some sort of disclaimer would have helped. Then again it's also fake MMO money so who really cares lol. Again, I don't think that he did anything wrong in the end – it's just really easy to see behind the curtain of this video if you play FF14's marketboard at all. I suspect that something similar will be in any video about him exploiting the market in a multiplayer game, especially one that he's not particularly familiar with.

  25. I just started using the same addon for the Market Board myself, but my use is much less nefarious since it's more or less entirely to see where I can pick up crafting materials I need as cheaply as possible. 😛

  26. desperius is very disconnected from not being a millionaire, as a level 30 something being able to make that money is great, also all your counter points are just be max level with penta melded gear and craft this stuff to sell it instead. you cant do that at level 30 with no experience in the game, the concept of find something cheap an sell it for more is how im currently able to buy my mansion in the game.

  27. This guy's video is full of like 3 separate contradictions. One saying you can do this on a trial. Saying you don't need an fc or friends only to backpedal. And finally saying it's not breaking rules WHILE USING PLUGINS!

  28. Reselling items from different servers isn't exactly game breaking. That's just a good way to make money. It's how I started out making my fortune. Bit weak for a SpiffingBrit video.

  29. ESO's guild trader system basically breeds this kind of market. The only issue I found was that you are kinda forced to become an entrepreneur of some kind to partake in endgame which then eats into your time doing content, though if you're into that it is actually quite fun.
