  1. I am Brazilian and just bought FFXI in SE Store North America… But I had to put my country as USA because there was no Brazil options… And I had to use a native VPN from a browser. To do so, after a hundred of tries. In the case of FFXIV, I have this game in my brazilian Steam account… I just hope there's no problem with both. I dream to play these games for years…

  2. As an American, I can tell you Americans would never put up with having to provide proof of anything just to set up an account for a game the way many Korean MMOs require; outside, maybe, a cellphone number.

But in general, it's a bad idea to require more information than you need to set up an account– especially when your game already has an account system as onerous as FF14.

  3. This is a formality mostly to anyone outside of China I feel. Chinese law on the otherthing is strict regarding services outside of their country.

This notice was put out to everyone, but is actually directed at those living in countries that have isolated laws and exist in their own bubble because of it.

Long story short: If you be living in China without legal foreign address, don't break your laws. SE has to follow them as well.

  4. Rumors say that this only affected Chinese players, playing the western version of the game. Many of them are getting banned for dodging the Chinese version and playing on JP Datacenters instead.

  5. Easier way to handle this would be to acknowledge that people just want to play with friends, meet different players etc and find a way to make it work. This feels like some bad will stuff Activision or EA would pull.

  6. Honestly, "messing up hunt train schedules" has got to be one of the most elitist comments I've seen in a while. Yes it's annoying AF if people killed some already but you're not entitled to that kill.
