GREAT guide! I'm a controller user, been using this macro myself for a while. I had to go through the nightmare of setting it up without a guide like this. It's amazing but took me an embarrassing amount of time to get perfect.
Btw the reason it copies from cnj 2 instead of 1 is because it needs some place to save your original AST hot bar. Otherwise when it switches to the party numbers then your original hot bar would just disappear into the nether.
I think it is easier to just put the play macros to the LT+RT hotbars
I use a Razer Wolverine V2 controller on ps5 it has 4 paddles on the back I use two of them for cycling up and down through party list makes it so easy to target a party member without taking your main target off the enemy. This does look pretty cool though.
I've never used macroa before because someone told me there is some sort of server delay with macros? You said since the cards are off the global cooldown this shouldn't pose any problems?
So glad you highlighted this @Bun Boss FFXIV! To those who read: I use mine on the left side not the right. So this is quite versatile to whatever work you want to do just have to change the macro accordingly.
I've been using this macro for almost two years! Its crazy.

I can't wait for a follow up video about weaving and using it more in-depth – I think people would want it!
I think macro make the wish of "this Button should turn into this button" instantly obsolete since you can just write it yourself^^
I found there is another way to achieve the same thing and should be much more reliable from programming perspective.
1. Set the playing layout to another hot bar in AST.
2. Use “/hotbar change #” to switch between hotbars .
The game should respond more quickly an reliably than copying 8 slots.
I'm not on pad, but have been using this style of macro for years.
Mostly for quick switching classes, and setting up Emote / Mount hotbars.
I did learn that you can just manually put in the macro commands for moving around hotbars. That's handy.
