In lieu of that, I want to write about this. Childhood best friends become rivals in school and grow apart due to misunderstandings because one takes the "dark path" to power. But love conquers all, and when push comes to shove, that love wins out. The "bad guy" learns to harness his dark power for good. They stabilize each other, empower each other. Like two sides of the same coin.
