  1. I can't wait for him to try it. Of course there are going to be parts he can't stand and there will be parts he absolutely loves. I just hope he is able to (and allowed too) get to SB and see some of that content, there is a reason it is award winning. Will he quit wow? heck no, but neither am I. I play both games because i love both games. Not sure why this ever had to be a binary choice for people in the first place. Have a main game and dabble in the other if you don't have much time, but modern games are built for people who don't have much time imo. 10 years ago it was near impossible to have two main mmo's I think, today I think it totally is. Multiple alts in multiple mmo's is a whole other puzzle lol, that is truly difficult.

  2. He wont convert, he,ll give it a go…..but he has invested wayyyyy to much time in wow and its his passion. Plus the PVP in FF is terrible, and he likes his PVP. Just doing straight up PVE full time isnt for everyone.

  3. He will boost past ARR..he will also kick and scream about how he cant kill or grief other players, as there is no "wurld pee vee pee". If he streams he will be carried, he will be mobbed, he will be given mounts and gear and handed stuff on a plate.

  4. I just want him to take away the difference in how the devs interact with the community. Wow is missing passion and hopefully this can show him what real passion looks like.

  5. I logged into 14 today and found myself number 640 in the queue, played the game for 7 years and have hardly ever been in a login queue of much more than 28ish.

  6. Evangelizing FFXIV is a real thing. I commented about FFXIV on a completely different game, not WoW, and got that typical reply that contradicted everything I personally felt about the game. I mean I literally stated that it was just my personal feelings in the post and yet they wanted to make sure that I knew my personal feelings were wrong.
P.S. I just stated that in my personal experience doing dungeon and raids felt like you were playing alone because everyone just rushed through it and no one even said anything in chat. I said I felt like the underlying factor was the strict Banning policy on chat conversation. I felt like, we as the community, should be allowed more leeway in "policing" toxicity ourselves because from my experience we do that all the time anyways.

  7. I been watching his streams on zackrawrr, and it just seems like he dosn't even wanna play it because of everyone being so pushy. It is more like he is just gonna play it to shut people up.

  8. I will not watch that stream because of his braindead chat shouting weeb every second time…I hope he likes it for himself but if not who cares really…

  9. While I hope he likes the game, if he doesn’t it is what it is. Doesn’t mean I won’t watch his videos/streams cause he didn’t like it. People have different taste. I personally can’t stand wow’s art style which has prevented me from getting into the game, people can like different things.

  10. CohhCarnage is also playing FF14 tomorrow, so that might bring in a lot of people as well. But, I expect a lot of his "dingus" moments to pop up with a game like FF14 and he likely won't push hardcore content.

  11. Yes, he has such a large audience that this is nothing but good for Square Enix. Do I think he's going to 'convert' to 14? Hell no. (1) He has business reasons to keep with WoW. That's his money making audience. (2) I honestly don't think he'll like 14 enough to keep playing it past whatever goals he has in mind so he can give it his honest review. (3) He's mentioned other MMOs coming out that he wants to try. And even if he never leaves his house they're still not enough time in the day to play multiple MMOs and claim to be giving them enough time. 14 will just be the first 'other MMO' he's going to try.

  12. Just wish he would play the game without streaming since it seems like he really needs his relaxing time, and with how many people watching his stream I'm quite sure there will be a few that tries to annoy him in game when he's playing.

  13. I don't like Pastrami, but that's ok I still eat other sandwiches. Games are like that with a different flavor tasting to us all. So it's ok if he plays and doesn't enjoy the game, but I hope he does. I actually find that on his personal channel that he is very authentic and fairly level-headed. I think he will have a lot of people watching his stream this Saturday.

  14. I disagree with evangelicals. That's the perspective of an outsider who doesn't understand the game. FFXIV is one of those unique MMORPG that brings us together through a common thing. A love for the characters from the game. It's in human nature to care for one another and to share that are good. That's what makes us human very social.

  15. I always thought that being Evangelical was kind of over barring. But when it came to WoW there was always this stigma about it in FFXIV. WoW refugees didn't help with that neither lol. That's why instead of being part of a camp without evidence I decided to try out WoW. That's fair right?

  16. He won't like it because he is so into wow, I love FFXIV but Asmondgold playing this game is the worst that can happen, he will point out thing wow players will use against FFXIV and will stop wow players from even trying FFXIV, I just think he should had stayed in WoW, this is not his kind of game style and he won't enjoy it

  17. as far as the time committment is concerned, asmongold himself said that he's neckbeard enough to have the time to play two mmos.
honestly, i hope he has a good time and isn't harrassed or anything like that at all. i hope people are civil, patient and nice no matter whether he likes the game or not.
however, the entire atmosphere of suspense and people being overly excited or pissed is something he created himself. the fact that he has been reasonable in the last couple of months doesn't mean he always was like that. the community around him has changed not least because blizzard sucks atm. but that doesn't mean he never fostered a kind of toxic environment.
i don't blame him, it's what he does and people change. he isn't responsible for what other people do, but this all didn't happen in a vacuum either. he knows that better than you, i believe.
i've never played wow and it doesn't look appealing to me. but that doesn't mean i look down on it. as a ffxiv player i actually don't care (AT ALL) which game is more successful as long as my game keeps going and is reasonably populated so you can get stuff done. the influx of new people is not anything i desire and i'm pretty sure, i'm not the only one.
believing that the people outspoken about their disdain for wow or wow-players is a trend or a large number is weird to me. most people i know in game don't even realize where the new people are coming from or know anything about the blizzard vs square enix competition.
just play the game, if you want to. and if you don't like it, that's fine.

  18. I'm 30 and I've been playing wow since I was 15. I always thought when I quit I would be sad but to be honest I just feel empty, it really just fizzled out so badly. I hope it gets better in the future, truly.

  20. It’s going to depend on his stream numbers. He’ll play while the interest is there and he’ll leave once something else makes him more money. Simple as that, this is a business transaction.

  21. Sadly his chat is going to be a CF and might make it a bad experience for him. As for WoW, they do a lot great but its over shadowed by all the bad design decisions. Domination sockets making you redo content after spending X amount of time because power gain for no good reason. Asmon has looked depressed, annoyed and sad while playing 9.1. Its actually painful to see. Asmon does have the rose glasses on for communities and evangelizing. WoW still has those people but the devs have reduced that amount.

  22. I mean the reason FF14 fans are so evangelical is because the game is sh good. If they didn't care then they wouldn't talk about it. I always tell my friends that they should try it and I'm not pushy but I remind them that there's a free demo and it's really fun and has no time limit. I tried wow and honestly it's not a bag game from what I played during the free trial. I even subbed for a couple of months and gave it an honest try but at the end of the day I couldn't get into it because of one thing mostly. And that is the God awful UI. The fact that you NEED mods to make wow a modern experience shows how much the devs really don't care about user experience. My friends who play wow had to basically guide me through what mods to use and how to set them up and at the end of the day it's a clunky experience compared to FF14. But the community that I engaged with wasn't really toxic or anything. I think if they put some more effort into it, wow could be a game I enjoy. But as it is, I'm sticking to FF14, and will always let people know how awesome it is.

  23. I played WoW for 14 years and I took breaks from the game when I was not enjoying even now stopped playing Shadowlands and enjoying my time on FF14. I recognize sunk cost fallacy is a legitimate concern for many who are in denial and want to see the game in a better shape but people should probably learn to let go and take a break when they're mostly not enjoying the game. We only live once and how we use our time its ultimately up to each individual but it saddens me when folks continue these behaviors of self abuse.

  24. The whole thing with the FF community like in other japanese game is based on the japanese social behaviours/culture.. They have a special and strong view on social behaviours.. the respect betwen each others, humility, and obey are the first things on their social laws and they are like that from thousands of years. They think a bit different from other cultures.. and that you can see even in a game.. they try everytime to avert and admonish any problematic issue rather than to solve it after.. I don't say it's bad ofc (look on they're evolution)!

  25. I think Asmongold should actually do what scottzone did. Get to 50, then do minimum item level raids like the coils, then get to 60 and repeat that process. That way he gets a break with the story to do some things he actually wants to do. Because endgame seems to be his main priority. I honestly think he will burn out quickly if he just tries to go through all 200-300 hours just to get to the current endgame.

  26. I don't think he's likes FFXIV at least from what I see in his streams he's a wow addict and there's no way he's gonna quit wow he's just doing it to shut his viewers up I actually think he's gonna do more harm then good for the game if he says to his viewers that the game is cringe or too weebe imagine the reddit forums having a field day and the toxicity from the wow community will be even worse. I hope I'm wrong ofc and he'll be fair but I don't expect it .

  27. Asmongold is probably my favourite streamer, happy to know he's giving the game a try. Just hope the community doesn't ruin it because I've noticed as a new player that FFs community seems mostly sensitive and constantly evangalise their game and put it on a very high pedestal.

  28. I came from eso into ffxiv. What irritated me with eso is they started out horrible and eventually got pretty decent, but then started to spiral back down to being horrible again. I just got bored and decided I have to try something else and I heard from multiple content creators wow use to be amazing but for the past couple of years blizzard has just ignored the community that helped build it, and I also heard how amazing ffxiv was so I decided to give it a shot. I am so glad I did I'm only level 32 summoner in the game but I absolutely love it. Between the story, the character building, the gold saucer, grand companies, etc… This game has so much more to offer in terms of a mmo that eso has or probably ever will have. Also with eso I paid $60 for the game and on top of that they wanted a subscription service or I'm locked out of a bunch of things that are available and to me it seems like ffxiv is a lot better. For instance if you choose the 3 month plan you're only paying $13 a month while also the expansions which have other expansions included, for instance, endwalker comes with stormblood and shadowbringers as well. But endwalker standard edition is only $40.
