  1. Ultimately if the company approach is just tell people its bad and really do nothing about it on the front end then it is going to be happening. They just learned to hide it better and don't stream it. Players will always take the easier path if its available. Back end punishment will pretty much only target people that slip up AND have the exposure to get noticed. So.. its just kind of an odd approach. Just make them usable or not.

  2. Oh this is going to hurt some feelings. Oh well – people need to quit looking at game companies as their buddies. These are companies and they have the right to state how they want their product used. In my business there are products you cannot buy or we will not sell you depending on the customer's end-use.

  3. I'm not into the high end raids and just play the MSQ or level jobs, so from my perspective they could stop working on ultimates and use these resoruces to add other content everyone else can play. The percentage of players actually participating in ultimates is tiny. And if they don't care about the challenge and cheat, why should developers care? I would welcome more new content for the rest, but I feel bad for every legitimate raider at the top that now suffers from this situation.

  4. full agree with bwana
been playing since the game was released still playing and never used 3th party tools to clear something
if u can clear it dont use it and clear it without if u do need then in my eyes i doubt your skills and ive already seen alot of streamers and big names use it and defending it now .

  5. Honestly, I'm not surprised because cheating is so ingrained in the high end raiding community. It wasn't that long ago that Xenos went on Allcraft and said that if mods help you clear then its not cheating because you needed it to clear. The logic makes no sense, but that's the mental gymnastics that high end raiders use to justify cheats. Honestly, as someone who has no interest in doing Ultimate, I wouldn't mind at all if YoshiP reallocates those resources into other parts of the game. Endwalker has zero large scale content, no Bozja, no 48 man raids, no Diadem or end game crafter hub, its all 4 mans and 8 mans or solo instances. The amount of people who would do another Bozja style instance and enjoy it, vastly outnumber the amount of people who do Ultimate. And while I've always agreed that Ultimates create a net positive to the game because its aspirational content that draws people to the game even if they don't end up doing it, if it creates a culture where addons are required then maybe that does more harm than good.

  6. so much for "the friendliest community" that the reddit circlejerk pretends to be, ff14 community is just as toxic as any other game community, referring to what you talked about around 20 min with everyone suspecting each other for cheating etc

  7. The problem is that the community does actually accept "some" 3rd party tools, as they categorize it as "non-harmful".
For instance, for me I honestly don't mind some UI addons, such as where they will display timers better as opposed to how the game does it, or chat bubbles. I don't use them, but I have seen them. For instance, look at the DSR addon that was pointed out, the one where the timers were displayed on the party list for the buffs. Now it has been added to the actual game by Yoshi-P.
My major issue is addons that tell you future mechanics a good 10 secs earlier or the camera manipulation, just like the one the TOP group used. This degree of "help" is where I would draw the line on the sand.

Actually, just last night I joined a prog group for P8S (I cleared a long long time ago, just helping) and I joined their discord channel. I laughed because these people has a bot that called out everything.
I never knew that some of these things would even be called out in such detail, such as during Snake 1 when the 2 icons appear and loop around the arena before they stop and snakes adds come out. This addon on discord (bot) will literally tell you "East and North" (basically where they will stop), for example, before the icons even start spinning.
I didn't say anything and I muted that bot off, not because of principle or anything, but because for 1) I didn't need it and 2) the player that made that channel was literally calling out the mechanics after the bot did to reiterate the call. I didn't need to hear it twice. :/
I also remember my 1st time encountering someone using cactbot. It was during Diamond weapon EX where some players would teleport to the correct side way before the boss even indicated that it was going to slash the other side, making it unsafe. I asked them, how the hell did they know where to go so early, did I miss an indicator that made it that easy?!
They actually confessed about using it and they said they were just using it for fun.
Thinking about it now, it was super risky of them confessing in-game since all it would take was for anyone to report them with the provided evidence.

Anyway, as for this race atm, yes, some streamer have callout bots "reminding" them what mechanics are coming up. You can find these people on twitch and they are bigger names in the community to. So, yes, people saying that others believe some addons are ok or that world racers are using them, is definitely true. And before you come at me, other streamers themselves have said this for the longest time, as well.

I am super old school and I love playing the game and enjoy the challenge, which is why I love blind prog., but due to the internet today so easily accessible, I can see why people do fall into using addons, especially the younger crowd, when big players use them to, so they ask themselves, why not me too?!
Kind of sucks, but cheating has been in every medium since forever and it will never stop. Just do yourselves a favor and don't be stupid enough to actually show your wrong doings. lol

  8. Thank god someone that has a voice is saying something!!! Al;l we are hearing is from the raiders who are doing the mental gymnastics to justify cheating and also trying sweep it under the rug and it also delegitize legit players…

  9. Honestly, make an official race. Wouldn't be much on Yoshi's shoulders because the project can be handled by the team responsible for duty commenced. they already do streams on twitch. Have Frosty as a guest, or act as host, or something. This can be done, and Yoshi can delegate it to that team. Set the rules, and let the fun begin!

  10. The people wanting specifics are assuming that everyone is stupid but them. They're fishing for loopholes.

Every time someone gets actioned for something like this it's because they broke rule #1. Don't talk about fight club. These people didn't just break rule #1, they recorded it. This is a bed of their own making.

As far as the current enforcement process for mods, the current environment is the best the player base will ever see and if they are forced to take any action at all, there will be some group that will suffer. Whether they're nefarious or not.

  11. Simple answer is just don't fricken stream while using TOS add-ons. Only dumbasses would record and stream something they know will get them banned, BUT… some dumbasses just cannot resist trying to let everyone know no matter what. That is a PLAYER problem, not a problem with their policy. The lame excuses people are leaving in comments have been said before over and over, you're still banned/suspended, etc. Get over yourselves.

  12. the best thing to come out of this has been the memes tbh xD
i understand both the people using plugins and those who don't, there's pro's and cons that i agree with in both… I still think that SE managing this and draging the control over it to themselves (both for plugins and the race events) is the best solution. banning everything (which includes stuff that don't even impact gameplay at all) doesn't really seem like the stance to keep going for at this point. I don't see why say someone using gshade to have more colour when playing should be banned, whereas people data mining and zooming to the moon are clearly gaining an unfair advantage.
