Man, I remember farming Wanderer's Palace/Amdapor Keep in 2.0 and then farming Ultima's Bane in 2.1; I specifically remember healing it as a WHM with another WHM in a group allllll afternoon so we all got oodles of accessories. All before the Limit Break change.
When ARR came out, WoW was near its 10 year anniversary and that made me feel old. Now FFXIV is nearing theirs. Where does the time go
Interesting how you didn't mention the first iteration of PVP here, the Wolves' Den. Those skirmishes were fun back then, if anything.
Thanks for being such a pillar for everyone in the ff14 community! You've been helping me figure this game out since stormblood when I first picked up the game. Well I bought ARR when it came out but I didn't really play it until much later.
Never tried MMOs and was very hesitant about subscription payments but here we are. You and other creators in the space make playing the game feels so special.
The Sylph quests were annoying because all the mobs were high enough to aggro you and, if you got hit on your mount, you got heavied…
Seeing a TP bar after years without it mad me double take like 5 times
those sylph stealth quests were the bane of my existence, I actively prayed for the day I would finally max out the rep so I could stop doing them.
Ah Real Titan haha Stack on the Ass pls … haha Wild Times back then .10 Years I have good memorys of ARR I clear all the Beast Tribes back then i like all of them to this Day.
Wonderfull Video i hope fore more Thank You
remember difficulty? i remember…
Very nostalgic, always fun telling friends about the infamous TP bar 😉
My friend and I started in 2.0 and got to endgame right after 2.1 dropped, and I still remember the people in our FC telling us how lucky we were to have gotten there after the patch and not before it, cause all they were all bored a hell
If someone hasn't brought it up you should go indepth with the different relic grinds for each expac
This is… kind of amazing. I love the idea behind these videos and I do hope you do one for each patch! 2.1 is special for me, that's the first week I played FFXIV back in December of 2013 (good grief).
That first year was wild. I remember when the Rogue/Ninja Job (and Au Ra race) were teased in 2.2, then finally actually released as playable in _2.4_. Can't wait for more strolls down memory lane! What a great 10 year anniversary gift, thanks Mr Happy XD
Thank you for this retrospective. Though I was around for those patches, it's nice to have a look back as to how things were.
You can still wipe in Haukke (Hard) if you over-dps the last boss. It's one of (I want to say) two bosses that punishes players for skipping phases. Every time I still chuckle when that happens. It's not often, but it does happen.
I like how they reworked the MSQ (formerly part of Praetorium) fights with Ultimate Weapon to be more in line with the mechanics of Ultimate's Ballad. Though new players are probably never going to step foot in Ballad, I like to think that MSQ Ultimate Weapon is now more in line with fighting Ballad.
Amusingly enough, with regards to the Raise Invulnerability feature, the implementation in Patch 2.1 did not have a buff icon for this. It was an invisible ~5s buff that was mentioned in the patch notes, but did not get the "Transcendence" buff effect until either Stormblood or Shadowbringers, I believe.
I believe they used the same verbiage in both cases, however: "Prevents damage from most sources" or something like that. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I was there Gandalf. I was there 3000 years ago.
I think a retrospective focusing on the gold saucer from it's introduction to present day would be interesting.
2.1 I remember it well might be the biggest patch the game ever received
So much… and I love it. Makes me wish I was there to play it on content.
You've meant everything to me Mr MrHappy. You've always been around
Wait, the Warriors of Darkness are based on 1.0 designs? That gives me goosebumps.
As a 'newer' player (1100 hours since July 1st 2022, lmao), i loovvveeeee seeing this kind of stuff. Absolutely cant wait to see how the journey progresses. As many deep cuts into these topics as you can do (without going crazy), would be awesome! Thank you sooooo much for all your hard work <3
Please react to the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin – Different Future trailer, I think you'll love it
Ah, the memories
Used to play with Happy on gilga during Heavensward many years ago. You can see the hard work he puts in his videos instead of lame clickbaits. Keep it up 👏
As a 2.0 player Veteran, this bring back memories.
My best moment was beating Bahamut T13 the night before 3.0 Expansion started. Just made it on the Final Witness Train 😆
I started playing ffxiv somtime in early ARR on aether. I remember running Sastasha as a whm with you Happs. You complemented me on my performance and suggested I check out your stream.
I don't do Ex trais or raids. But I've experienced that through your eyes. It's been quite a journey man.
