FFXIV 5.3 First time reaction – The Seat of Sacrifice w/ Ethys Asher – Shadowbringers – To The Edge

Going through the FFXIV 5.3 MSQ for the very first time. We’re at the ending of 5.3 and it is nerve wrecking. First time doing this trial with friends and Ethys Asher coming with some small lore bits.

Unedited = no cutting on commentary and talking to twitch chat.

This is edited out of the full length part. If you want to see my while reaction to Final Fantasy XIV, please check out my channel.

I am absolutely in love with the lore of this game!

There will be a highlight video a little bit later with highlights from the whole playthrough.

  1. Ahhh the cry like a bitch trial. Reacting to these never gets old. And yes I think Azem was more than a friend. I mean all of the convocation members were friends kinda, but Emet defied the convocation and secretly made a crystal for Azem. You don't do that for a simple friend.

  2. About Emet appearing during the trial: the second Emet side-story clearly implies that we summoned the actual him out of the Lifestream (more obvious in Japanese and French at least). Ancients have really 'massive' souls so it'll take him a while to disappear into the aether so he's basically resting right now. And Hades is the Lord of the Underworld in mythos and his skills reflect that in game.
Azem is likely to be the inspiration for Azeyma which is believed to ferry the souls to the afterlife (the Night's Blesseds attributed that role to the Warrior of Darkness). Elidibus tells us that we 'only have our purpose in death' and the trial lyrics mention "fighting Death's Amber embrace…Azem's crystal being amber.
The WoL has strong ties to death and I wouldn't be surprised we'd be able to talk to Emet in Endwalker considering he did the trailer narration (some of it being new dialogue)
