  1. In the TGS, YoshiP called Sakaguchi “the legend of legends”. To his face. YoshiP clearly holds Sakaguchi in high regard, asking him about the development of Fanstanian, and how much he admired Sakaguchi blending real props (I think it was clay models?) with CG and the combat system. Of course, Sakaguchi couldn’t stop heaping praise on FFXIV either. Saying it made him reconsider retirement. It was an awesome interview.

  2. That's so wholesome. Mr Sakaguchi expressed what every Final Fantasy fan felt when going into 14. It's not just an mmo, it's a digital Disneyland for the whole series.

  3. I played all American released FF games through 15,except 11, which I will be experiencing this coming week. I even played some of the Japan released FF titles when they were finally ported to IPhone. Every time I play through a game I always keep an eye out for anything familiar from previous releases. To be a part of that first one and seeing all your work culminated in the masterpiece of FF14 must truly tug on your heartstrings. It did for me especially when my character went splashing through the Garasmyth waterway (spelling?) in the Ivalice raids.

  4. One could say that in Mr. Sakaguchi eyes Creative Business Unit III are worthy to shepherd this franchise. I imagine its probably the highest praise a developer could get from its original creator.
And damn is Mr. Sakaguchi a Chad, not only did he Blitzed through the MSQ in no time, he's also wholesome AF.

  5. Sakaguchi plowing through the entire MSQ and half the side content wasn't something I ever expected but it's the sort of thing that's really neat. Kind of like an artist visiting a museum and experiencing the art of people who were directly inspired by one's own work.

  6. It would be such a huge treat & nerdgasm if FF14 & Sakaguchi-san ever collaborated on a future event say like the next Rising Event. Imagine seeing YoshiP's character giving his wholesome message than all of a sudden Sakaguchi-san's in game model comes in and gives his own wholesome message. Imagine seeing both these 2 legendary creators in the same game on the screen at the same time. That would be amazing if it ever happened.

  7. Imagine being crush to the point of desperation. Your company is at the brink of collapse. You then release an ultimatum. Your last chance. Your final fantasy. It's a good game. You recover with your team and move on. Will the next installment have the same luck?

It did. Through highs and lows, it did, and again and again. Your franchise is massive, never to see the last. You sit down and see how it's going. You see millions cheering for trailers, merch, mere words dropped by Dev teams that might lead to lore info. You see your dream nurturing the lives of hundred of developers, equally passionate now as you were on the past, doing their best every single day. Because of you. Because you never gave up.

You are Hironobu Sakaguchi, and your fantasy is one of many.

  8. Bringing us all these stories update on a weekly basis and I don’t know of anyone else I follow that does, you do much to remind us, make us aware to in keeping the legend of all of this alive in our minds with the grandfather of FF14.

  9. in the TGS interview him asking yoshi-p to let him write something even a small side quest for ff16 was super wholesome and in that interview you could tell yoshi-p was a massive fan of sakaguchi. Hearing your idol asking you to let him write something for your game had to have been such a cool feeling.

  10. If I could implant my memories into a program so that I could live in the FF14 universe once I pass away, like in that one show, Upload, I'd have something to look forward to in my twilight years.
