  1. There's something oddly poetic about them doing a random drawing for tickets… for an event hosted by them in fucking Vegas. The same sort of poetry that reminds of a certain other company… must be a cold day in Hell is all I'm saying 😉

  2. I actually kind of understand this. It's taking place in NA. NA players should have first priority. And the lottery takes care of the scalpers problem. If they have an EU fanfest and do the same thing, that would be entirely fair. I can understand why this would upset people, but it's either this or scalpers buy all the tickets and ruin it for everyone.

  3. I don't think these are sustainable anymore in their current form. They should just do their reveals and panels virtually, and then maybe have The Primals tour a few cities per region or something like that.

  4. Here in the US we have jerks who will buy all they can and scalp them. I think it is great to give locals who play the game first chance. Also don't want streamers to buy a bunch for their friends or as give away for content how fair would that be? And if they do sell out at least everyone know they are players of the game and not randos.

  5. I really prefer the lottery system since if would be way worst the "normal way" of selling tickets…
It can be resumed to one word: Scalper

The methodology used make sure that everyone is a player (which make sense) and you don't to refresh the page every .005 sec to have a chance to buy the ticket.

  6. I'm not sure if I want to go to EU fan fest, but having it as lottery would increase the chances of me trying/buying the ticket. So tbh I'm all for it. But also a player if they have an active sub to EU and NA should be able to take part in the lottery of their choosing (maybe limit it so you can only choose 1 region and can't take part in lotteries for other regions).

  7. I really like it. Getting tickets shouldn't be a PvP event and I was worried I wouldn't have a fair chance. As long as they accurately estimated the size of the venue everyone that wants one should get one. If it ends up with no surplus then they might have a legitimate complaint but it's too early for that. As for EU I'm assuming it will be the same system for the European fanfest that will give them a leg up.

  8. Prevents scalpers. Good
    Supports active players. Good
Will still have normal sales unless presales sell out. Good
Make it so we don't have to do the midnight Rush to get tickets. Good!
This makes it a lot more fair.

  9. Sounds pretty great to me, scalpers have become a massive problem for events recently and this will stop that, and active subs (who are the people that would be most excited to go to fan fest) get first priority over the general public

  10. Seems fine to me. I'd much rather just drop my name in a hat and hope to get selected rather than do what I did the last large event I wanted to attend which was get up early, spend 6 hours trying to click through the ordering site to select available seats, having the site repeatedly time out making me start that step or the whole process over finally getting to the order page only to have it tell me the tickets were no longer available and not getting to go. The former is "oh well I didn't get selected." and some minor disappointment and the later is 6 hours of stress, anger and wasted time.

  11. With how the current scalper situation is for ticket sales in the US I prefer this lotto system over that. The frustrating part for me and many aussies is the fact we're roped into EU region even through our ping to NA is better then EU.

After doing some checking the flight weirdly enough are cheaper to go to EU fanfest then NA fanfest but I know I'd be seeing more friends at NA fanfest over EU fanfest

  12. Is it really the fans that are "FURIOUS" or is it the scalpers & bots that are upset that they cant buy something like the omega statue & sell it for 3k USD.? This sounds just a little to odd to be fans upset over a better change to get a ticket then some bot. The post has not even been out a pull day & ppl are claiming the majority of the players are upset by this post. That is bull shit. Some sure but not nearly as many as ppl think. More a case of everyone is a critic when it has not effect on them.

  13. I thought it was reasonable. Lottery systems suck, but look at something like comiccon where everyone slams the servers and the lucky ones who get through get tickets, etc. I think it is the most fair way…..unless I don't get picked then the system is hot garbage. lol

I didn't see the part about NA accounts until later though, and that does suck. I was looking forward to hopefully meeting some out of town content creators I follow.

  14. If we didn't have literally every house being bought up even with housing lottery, they probably wouldn't have used a lottery system for ticket sales.
And you know that they are going to sell out during the restricted access period, which means that people won't be put off by the lottery system in SE's eyes.
And that'll just be evidence that "it works" unless someone figures out some way to turn the lottery system around and turn the whole situation into a massive L.

Moral of the story: Vote with your wallet. Convince people to vote against lotteries by convincing them not to buy tickets during the lottery period.

You know, the same way everyone voted against the new Cash Shop gifting changes and got SE to roll it back by giving them no money to show how much we all hated the cash shop changes.

    Oh wait.

  15. Lottery can be very good. If tickets are bought straight up, you can’t get a head count of how many people actually wanted one. With a lottery you can see how many people participated and that opens logistics and totals for more fanfests in different regions (east coast, west coast, major cities etc.) Fanfest Tour/Media Tour.

  16. It's one of those things now a days. Do you want your fans to go or do you let the scalpers win? These sites that they use to sell tickets help them so much. They are also helping scalpers make a lot of money off of the hype that is popular events. So even if they require everyone to sign up with their SQEX account to get tickets, bots will still be programmed to find a way. If we've learned one thing from lockdowns, it's that people are willing to do some shady stuff just to make a buck.

  17. I think it's a good idea. Considering the Taylor Swift ticket stuff …. yeah. You want to give priority to local fans. Do European and Asia fanfests and restrict to those regions with lottery too.

  18. I do miss the days of dedication to go to the event. Perhaps a day or 2 to wait in line to physically purchase entry to an event. This would eliminate congestion on websites and limiting number of tickets per person. keep being weird Square Enix.

  19. I feel for the EU players that want to go to NA Fan Fest, but I feel more for the players who just want to breathe Final Fantasy XIV, only to pay 3 times what the ticket is worth because of some asshole scalper hoarding as many tickets as humanly possible.

Suck a dick, scalpers. This isn't a perfect system, but it is better.

  20. if EU accounts can prove they live in NA they should be able to participate, that's my only gripe but it effects such a small % of people, that this is still far more preferable to crashing ticket sites and scalpers

  21. I don't terribly mind. Usually ticket sales and big events go live while I'd be at work and I'd never have a chance, as opposed to entering a lottery I have something of a chance.
