I take a look at the new expansion announcement for World of Warcraft, Dragonflight. Here we briefly go over the cinematic and new features.
I am an Ex-WoW player. Played for almost 15 years until I moved on over to FFXIV and GW2. Does this new expansion excite me and fill me with hope? Well…

Legendary intro LOLLL
9:38 omg lol
31:12 same… I would stay in the time when I 1st bring her the necklace… forever…
This is soooo sad… The only good thing WoW ever does is something they did not do themselves.
"huge team efforts to do the dragon flight"
ctrl+c… if i had known that this counts as "huge efforts" while in school, i would have won more arguments against my teachers.
I mean if that would be ingame graphics, like how most decent MMOs do their trailers, but of course Blizzard only makes some expensive movies, and when you see the actual game its like they throw you back into the 1980s 🙄
Btw.: i never played WoW beside maybe 20 hours trials. My first MMO was Lineage 2 and then i switched to EverQuest 2 after it was released. WoW came out later, i just tested it for a few hours and it was just no comparsion to EverQuest 2 for me. Btw. EQ2 also released already 3 or 4 expansions before WoW brought out their first one, and that even since they by far didn't had that success and the money that Blizzard earned with their way minor game.
Oh btw.: we also had already housing in the base game, how many years did Blizzard told you they will bring it into the game until it really happened ? 🤨
Omg .. the centaurs, if you can't outrun them stay away from that game for all cost 😄😂🤣
And the mounts, in a few years for sure everyone will tell you WoW invented that and GW2 stole it from them, like in reality Blizzard has invented nearly nothing at all, and just copied all the good things from other games, but all the fans think they did it first. Like even Tolkien has stolen the Orcs from WoW 😜
I think it is ok that mmo take ideas from eachother and make them their own, but here it is a full copy/paste thing that they dare to call huge teamafforts to make the dragonflight that kind of fell the wrong way in the comunity. And not only that they also added elite specs as we have in GW2 since like 5 years back or more so it is a bit of meh, all though i still think using mounts in the way GW2 made them is a upgrade, but only if they actually make something out of it. Just adding it is not gonna do shit, Arena Net integrated it all in to the game the whole game and also added masteries for that.
Honestly, I'm going to wait till I see open beta footage before I make up my mind. I'm glad they are refurbishing crafting, but I fear it may kill the auction house.
They look like the people at furry conventions.
The dragon doing a roll is exactly the same as the skyscale's dodge roll… only not as good since the skyscale also lunges forward during its roll. It's kind of funny; for years, MMOs were all trying to copy WoW… now the tables have turned. That Dragon race… Blegh. If you're going to have a dragon race, go all the way and have a real dragon form, not some humanoid dragon hybrid. The one thing I saw that has me hopeful that it might be okay is that they're finally going away from borrowed power. Don't know if I'll ever go back to it; but that's one possible ray of hope. Really, they need to get a clue that people don't like working hard for something only to have it be completely abandoned when the next expansion comes out. Hell, sometimes things became irrelevant by the next content patch. That's what I've always liked about GW2; everything you earn you get to keep and is never going to be made irrelevant.
Blizzard back to pulling inspiration from other video games is a good return to form; it's what made them successful with literally every one of their franchises to begin with. Probably going to be their best expansion yet.
Guild Wars latest expansion is End of Dragons and WoW's just introduced a full Dragon focused expansion, that's some next level coincidence…
I think the thing that’s irritating, is as you mentioned it’s a circle-jerk vid and when they are copying stuff from GW2 and FFXIV they keep acting like they came up with all this stuff as they toiled to invent these creative solutions.
I’m not saying they should mention the other games in their own announcement stream — but maybe less huffing and puffing about how hard it was to come up with and dislocating their shoulders patting themselves on the back for it. Tone it down…
Plus also WoW will get the kudos for their awesome changes if these changes are successful. Especially for GW2, it gets a little bit of a bummer when the MMO you think is actually forging it’s own path still struggles with being underrated and is dismissed while all these ideas are ripped off.
I instantly got hooked with the idea of bigger talent tree's, that was my huge complaint.. Like I want tree's that are good sure but also things that are fun. Even if the ability isn't meta because there will always be a meta.. I want to do things that breaks the better.. and if they do the system right.. a way to counter the meta with another build.
I'm ok with copying because it means iteration which can make things better. Everyone who makes games should be looking at other games and seeing what they do well, and if that other game does something your game is going to do but better, do it the better way.
Wow “prismatic effects” bet Aurene will be mad to see this.
Eh let them have the flying from GW2 for a bit it's not like they'll have it for long anyway, it'll be gone by next expac.
Those dragons look like they were made in less than a week.
I'll just rhink of Drachtyr as flying Argonian
It's ok to copy what's good about other games, but it's lame to sell it like if it was revolutionary
I feel like the people calling out the copying as something bad are a vocal minority. I think the majority of GW2 players either doesn't care or think it can only be an improvement on what WoW already had.
Personally, the flying, mount customisation and talent tree make me think I might check it out sometime after its release. If you're going to copy something, the flight mechanics of the Skyscale and Giffon are great targets. I just worry that it's only something that'll be of use in the Dragonflight expansion, because why would you go through the effort of trying to control something that takes some skill, when you can just pop onto a mount that feels like you're no-clipping in Skyrim (without the passing through things, of course). Exciting flight that might end you up in a tree vs pixel perfect control.
I cant expect more of a company full of scammers and sexual harassers.
"Completely unique… From all the other things with seen in WoW" OK, they had me for a second 😂 at least they wasn't lying!
The jerk circle was awkward because it didn't look like genuine excitement. Developers should be excited to play to their game indeed!
I mean usually when a dev team "Copy's" something from another game, they change it up to make it feel like something that belongs in that game.
That new wow mount looks like a straight up copy-paste xD
College students get expelled for not at least changing the thing they copied by 20ish% to kinda make it their own.
Of all the things I could say, I can excuse the flying, cause like you said, WoW's mount system is very bare and cosmetic even, so anything is technically an improvement. Also, there's only so many ways you can animate a creature flying.
The Dracthyr's human forms aint IT though.
GW2 could use some customizable UI too

the way they copied mount movement plus the awkward interview/discussion on how they made it reminds me of a high school level of group cheating/copying on projects, and then each will have to come up with their own bullshyt if they ever got to represent it to class.
the only way im playing wow again is if these demands are all met
1) get rid of all the sexual predators at blizzard
2) remove the cash shop and all greed entirely
3) actually be a part of and care about the community and make it less toxic more transparency
4) fix the game so its not just a pointless grind all the time
5) maybe add some controller support
I think for the dragon riding they mixed griffon and skyscale from GW2.
There is the high velocity mobility of griffon combined with the spiral roll from skyscale. Aesthetics-wise it's also a combination of the two.
😅
I agree it's okay to borrow and doesn't have to be bad. But I feel this will be judged against GW2. People who know the other game will want to see if they can match the quality.
I mean blizzard it’s one thing to just copy the mount mechanics which is fine. But to actually say it was a team effort saying you did this all from scratch and literally acting as if you didn’t completely copy and paste the whole thing and say this is our from gw2 is just like unbelievable. There is so much striking resemblance you can’t disprove unless you actually show that you could code all of this by yourself. It’s like finding a code for a program off of chegg for an assessment and you submit it and the teacher knowing full well that the code was copied from chegg.
(Reaction to watching Cata, MoP, WoD, Legion, BFA, Shad, and now Dragonflight intro's)
🤔…🤨…😮💨…😞
Yeah. Still don't want to play it.
Edit: And yet again they missed the chance to just make a third faction choice. Which would have expanded more story options for the future.
I guess my stance against blizz and wow is personal opinions ones. I played from wrath to the end of MoP, poured thousands and thousands into the game then it just felt not right to play anymore. Skip forward 7 years or so I get shadowlands and 2 months gametime free so I'm like…sure why not. I solo'd through every single dungeon/raid from thunder isles through wod/legion on ALL difficulties and ALL achieves in like 3 weeks. did the finders for all of bfa pretty much, I basically 100% SHadowlands including the main aspects of Chorghast, 9.1 came out and 2 weeks doing that place I had gotten 2 of the rare mounts, full geared in higher ilvl then raidfinder (yes maxed covenant/anima/conduits)and all that was left was dailies for basically nothing. I literally tweeted out the day before the lawsuits "Well I guess that's it for WoW, maybe i'll be back for the next expansion or 7 years whichever" lol Then the lawsuits and the rest is history. Not into it, and people can play what they want but too much lackluster years of devs being lazy and some being just bad people makes my view of all of it bad permanantly. Them stealing systems/ideas is normal for every company but i'm slightly offended by the dragon hoomans in WoW as I play a Au Ra in ff14 and sorry but they are the superior dragon race lol jokes aside They can have their cartoon trees and cuddly stuff I prefer the grit of guildwars 2 locations and solid combat of ff14 these days.
I felt the same way as this intro when I saw this, but "I knew." lol
