Some lore notes:-Prince Haldrath was the very first Azure Dragoon, and the son of King Thordan, and Estinien being the current Azure Dragoon. King Thordan most likely died to Nidhogg himself, and Haldrath died later in battle, alone.
-Yes, the Forgotten Knight was founded by one of Kind Thordan's former knights. It's likely the current owner is a descendant.

So you know, the Thorne Dynasty was a former ruling house of Ul’dah before it went back to the house of Ul, Nanamo’s line. So having them be a contender for the sultanate is a viable option.
Ok, wow, I completely missed the reference to the ARR Alchemist job questline last time I played through.
I hope you’ve realized by now that Echo flashback was showing events from over 1000 years ago, all those people in it are dead of old age and are the ancestors of most Ishgardians now.
Also the head honcho of Ishgard (the old dude with a big beard) now, is not a King, he’s the Archbishop who is the head of the Church. Ishgard is currently a Theocracy/Nobility, not a Monarchy.
