FF14 normal content can actually be a bit boring if ur team is too good. Nowadays i actually ask the tanks to not draw any mitigations so i at least have to use my entire healing kit and dont fall asleep. This might be because i started savage raiding 8 month ago and i am just used to far more busy fights. So it doesnt apply to everyone. But normal content in FF14 can be really braindead and boring. For example i am currently leveling up a raiding alt and i choose to start as Warrior. I can literally solo story instances without any healer (yes even before i get lvl 54). Just with a few potions. That of cause doesnt mean it isnt fun, stuff like Aglaia, Smileton, the Stigma Dreamscape or Alzadals Legacy are incredibly fun. But it can simply be absolutly boring if ur team is too good.
Why listen to asmongold he hasn't completed anything in ff14 besides heavensward
TLDR; Just get good dude, really. Learn the mechanics, play more then you will find them easy. Players with 400 more or less ilvl this week will be able to do M+15 easy AF. Nothing is enjoyable if you are clueless on anything in life.
Are we still doing FFXIV vs WoW?
Any ff is just cringe for weirdos.
The difference between FF14 and WoW is how the mechanics treat the individual for performing the mechanics. On the average boss in FF14, you are rewarded for playing well by completely avoid dmg, do something cool, or get dps windows. In WoW you can perform every mechanic perfectly but still be punished by the ridiculous amount of group-wide dmg, or another player performing poorly. I feel this is also why DPS and parsing is so heavily worshipped as its the only quick and simple metric that can be used as a indicator of performance.
play FF again 🙁 even some MSQ fights feel epic in ShB and EW
I really wish I could dig the FFXIV art style as much as I do WoW. By all means it should be way better, I just always enjoy looking at Wow’s cartoony look more.
Great easy content in FF14 and I never mind joining newbies in doing them again. Big fat tacos, Oh no he's hot, isn't this WWII, why are you here I'm level __, why can't I suplex this train, oh good we can kill her parents, dad fight, dragon ball z, REJOICE!, get in the hole, and lots of booba 👍. Good times.
11:45ish, goosebumps every time. Agree.
Level7Sloth is fine to have that opinion, but I don't think it's something that needs to be "fixed" necessarily, it's sort of that thing that differentiates WoW and FFXIV. One example is Preach, he discussed how the simplicity of some of the story fights in Stormblood made moments that were supposed to feel foreboding and dangerous and epic just… not that.
Also, when he's talking about the cinematic nature of FFXIV I don't think many games match their ability to craft emotional set pieces. It takes a bit to set up, but when they hit you with it it's huge. The Bahamut example is one, the end bosses to Shadowbringers and Endwalker and those resolutions were incredible.
In WoW raids in heroic and mythic especially the "minor" mechanics if you mess them up you'll also die. Asmongold doesn't really do heroic/mythic raid progression so I don't think he gets it. He gets carried on stream and that's about it. The guy he's reacting to is right on though, the regular dungeons in WoW are basically a blip in your progression to mythics, they're a complete joke. But I've played both and normal FFXIV dungeons are also a complete mindless joke.
Man, I've been trying to get into WoW with the new expansion. But I really am struggling to find engagement in the game. It feels more like a chore than anything else.
I can relate very strongly with finding no enjoyment in the Dragonflight Dungeons…
Edit: Yeah, that's the whole issue. You can clear a dungeon without interacting with the mechanics. It's boring.
That transition feels so fucking amazing in ultimate you have to do UCOB at some point
Only problem I have with FFXIV is the gameplay. The rotation and combos is what gets to me. I tank and dps in dungeons and raids. And the constant 1-2-3 rotation is just boring to me. I legit fall asleep sometimes just dps’ing dungeons
I think what he try to get to in FF14 you have to do the Mechanics in Normal Dungeons or you get to be punished for it in wow you just melt the Bosses and be done with it, that is what he refers to as not satisfying to him. And i think he got a Point.
IMO, the point of the video is that, in WoW, unless a mechanic kills you, there is no need to dodge it. Stand in the fire, DPS higher.
You only need to know mechanics in the difficulties where they can kill you.
FF14 is made for Gamer and Wow is made for TOP 5%, Top world first, Top ranked PVP
I which devs would watch
I dont think it was mainly the cinematic nature that was the point here. The point was in FF the mechanics are VERY clear. You have a cast bar(usually quite lengthy), boss usually stops attacking and you have a clear animation. In a lot of mmos the most you get is a really quick cast bar with a very small and simple animation that happens quickly and easy to miss. FF even a simple aoe is usually a big ass in your face explosion. When you get hit with something you can clearly see what hit you where as other mmos they either arnt clear enough or theres so much shit happening at once that you dont know whats hitting you and it seems like youre just taking random damage.
Even down to mechanics, other mmos its a clusterfuck of mechanics happening constantly where as ff its like: Downtime > Mechanic time> Downtime> Mechanic time, its very clear cut.
@7:20 50k DPS and the boss died so slowly, pretty sure it has to be heroic.
Both games are "last gen", but unfortunately there is no "next gen" MMO out yet…
On point with WOW having dozens of mechanics all going off at once
This guy should just wait again tyranical week and try Ruby at least +10 to feel all bosses.
Than he would defenitely feel something while dying all the time from different casts and mechanics.
FFXI is The Game. Yet I guess since you are a WoW player. Maybe indeed the Clone Wars FFXIV is indeed more aligned towards you since it was created to cut into Blizzard’s pie to begin w/
Cat dany for the love of god please equalize the outro im so sick of waking up to asmon dancing. Please.
Ff 14 is still meh
Uhh, i really don't have any fun doing expert roulettes or dungeons in general on ff but glad he feels that way i guess.
Yeah the bossfight against I forgot his name who turns into a huge dragon after stormblood that really impressed me and it was just so incredible.
Maybe it was easy?
I don't know.
But it felt like you were fighting a god that has awakened and the whole world change into this interimentional tearing of a rift, while you fight this thing, on the remaining rubble and platforms that are progressively destroyed, and you're trying not to fall off while fighting this crafted ice cold psychopath that has reached the transcendence by awakening the primal.
Tjat honety impressed me.
Stormblood I found kind of boring for the most part, but the main villain was so fucking good.
Actually, he's kind of like denathrias from shaowlands, meets griffith, and the elden lord al in one character
It was so good man.
Music in video games play a much bigger role then most people know. It really builds the atmosphere especially when it transitions with the boss fight
Easy fix, make bosses easy, or leave them easy, just make their heathpool way bigger
This video just proves how much DBM mains are on suicide watch. Not a single fight in WoW can match what XIV provides. What does THIS swirly ground mechanic mean in this fight in this dungeon in this expansion in WoW? Idk, I just have DBM tell me to get out of the aoe or it's okay to stand in it. Meanwhile XIV has VERY clear mechanics on what is okay and not okay to stand in.
They even made it better in newer exansions to make it so if you get hit by an attack, it only reduces your own damage done to the boss. Previous expansions would make it so you take extra damage, which leads to the healers constantly spamming heals. They got rid of this by making failing mechanics a more personal infliction. You get hit by a mechanic and you do less damage, simple as that.
Yes, it may reduce your chances to clear the savage raid, but you can easily tell what caused it and help improve your group for it. I've been in groups for Savage tier raids for 90+ minutes with completely random people and not a single person quits and we all try to help eachother out and improve our tactics. I'll probably never see these people again, much like you do in the dungeon/LFR in WoW, but the game respects you for being that.
First day savage are an amazing experience. It doesn't help that SE is happy to ban the little shits who abrupt the gameplay of others. Not a babyrage comment or anything at all. If you're toxic, they WILL ban you. No babying that the WoW "GMs" do because they're afraid to lose subs.
It's funny watching people talk about how "Hard" the hard raids are in WoW. Meanwhile you have DBM telling you exactly when and where a boss is going to cast an ability and DBM is literally required to play in higher tier content with how fucking trash that Blizzard is at telegraphing mechanics.
I think part of what the author of the vid was getting at was in WoW you can often steam roll bosses ignoring mechanics. where is 14 you can punished for it.
FFXIV all dungeon bosses are spectacles but the bosses overall suck mechanicly compared to WoW. Can't have these graphical spectacles in WoW because they would cause players to miss other abilities that happen and overlap. Ground effects etc. Usually ground effects in WoW are deadly af.
Also a Dungeon in FFXIV is meant to be beaten once and you're done. In WoW you are in to go grab loot and not watch a movie every time.
Honestly the same can be said about most XIV dungeons when you do them more than once. Most bosses have maybe 2 relevant mechanics, most of them just a recycle of "Don't stand in the cleave, don't stand in the big aoe circles, don't stand close to the thing that's clearly going to explode" and often there's really only one that can actually kill you. No I'm not counting unavoidable aoe damage or tank busters as mechanics, they're more like checks to see if you have a pulse.
Dungeons are just corridors connecting square arenas with a boss in them and sometimes the only reason you can tell it's a boss is because trash doesn't have any mechanics.
If you enjoy visual spectacle then sure XIV dungeons obviously win, but they certainly don't have any more substance than your average WoW dungeon.
Maybe that has changed, I haven't played WoW since Legion. Comparing what I can remember however I was more engaged doing my 15th low key (maybe +5 at most) Eye of Azshara than I was doing my 2nd run of The Fell Court of Troia, trying to not fall asleep while doing the same boss cleave+spread aoe mechanic that I've already seen 300 times somewhere else before sprinting through trash packs until the next wall to get this over with, collect my tomestones and go back to doing the content that actually requires me to use more than 2 brain cells.
Point is, if you played XIV for long enough then the visual spectacle can't carry the content anymore, the music becomes just background noise, and you realize that you're just going through the same basic motions that have become muscle memory with 0 variation, making the experience of running casual content not that much different from WoW's.
FFXIV just doesn't click with me.. those horrific graphics paired with that impression that your character is not really on the ground..Is always kind floating slightly above ground..
Horrendous feeling..
WoW is not even close to being perfect but some things are just that good.
Wildstar best raids.
