(I always assumed that Sir McHandsome just said "Estinien…" or "my friend" something).
"Ah yes, the mulled wine, of course" 😅
The Final Steps of Faith trial cinematic is always so heartbreakingly beautiful.
This is the point in which I decided to take a break from MSQs (I mean, not that I'm in a rush, I'm still on a free trial). The perfect conclusion to one of my favorite FF stories, Heavensward is such a gem.
And Dragonsong it truly a beautiful song. I was already in love with Zenith's theme, so when I got to hear the lyric version of it, I couldn't help but listen in awe. And due to how long the queue to Duty Finder was, I got to hear it at least twice on loop. This combined with the picture of standing against an enormous dragon… mwah, chef's kiss. (While I consider Masayoshi Soken's work on the soundtrack to be wonderful, of course it's the Nobuo Uematsu track that pulled my heartstrings the most. Never change, man.)
This is all in a free trial btw
I can relate when you started singing the HW theme out of nowhere. I've done it myself when I was doing my first MSQ journey
Splendid video! Thanks for the upload.
I'm really stoked you played this AFTER the patch. The dungeon is actually a lot better now. I didn't mind the multiple platforms before, but this new rendition is much better at teaching the mechanics you'll see in the future.
Another good video. I'm glad you enjoyed the Nidhogg fight. It's been recently updated so the mechanics are new to a lot of us who haven't done it in a long time. Anyways, have fun and enjoy the story.
A beautiful ending to a beautiful story. Don't forget to do that quest in Fortemps Manor that I told you about! 😁
Sees a video for patch 3.3
Sure, I'm okay with crying right now.
clicks and comments this before even watching yet
(Seriously your recap is playing as I'm typing this. I wanted to say, the recap is a fucking badass idea, I really, really, really like it – especially with timestamps for people who don't like it. Geez man, good fucking start.)
Most dreaded dialogue box "Upon …. , Several cutscenes will play in sequence."
Man reliving it all over again still brings me tears, wonderful storytelling
Speaking as someone who already finished game –
I would really like to hear more commentary in between segments, your thoughts on characters, situations, maybe some anecdotes etc.
Plain read outs and cutscene watchalongs are not only boring but I can do this myself.
I watch you and other sprouts for your opinion and reaction as I am interested in reexperiencing the story with different viewpoint then mine own.
I do hope it didn't come out as toxic and overdemanding.
I wish you have fun with rest of the story 🙂
another great video 😊 im glad you re enjoying your journey so far 😊 just let me give you a little hint: those sounds you did hear during the trial came from group chat. i dont know if i m right about this, but it seemed to me you dont have your chat up. if it s not very important in ARR it becomes more and more important as you advance for trial bosses(and even some dungeons bosses) that will become harder as you progress. having chat up during those fights it will become important since some people will give advice over some mechanics 😊
"Why is Midgardsormr so small?" Because it's not his true body. Both minion Sormr and Mount Sormr are technically just dragons that hes in control of. Sormr's main body was the one we saw at the Keeper of the Lake… that huge one.
Such a great expansion. Have fun in the following expansions to come! RIP Count Edmont.
Even after all of Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker, the Final Steps of Faith remains one of my favorite fights in the game. Normal and Extreme.
Ending of 3.3 was sooo good. If i may i would like to also recommend doing trials and raid series now or after next patch 🙂
I would suggest, that you turn down effects of other players in settings. It can become a real nuisance going forward (nevermind, if that is intentional, just many new players don't know that option exists)
Congrats! You've officially completed Heavensward's story and the Dragonsong War! Now is an excellent time for a break from the MSQ to pick up some new stuff:
– Alexander Raids
– Hildibrand
– The Firmament is now open (although, you'll need to be a crafter to benefit from it)
– Sky Pirate Alliance Raid
From here on, you'll be getting a bit more story about the Warriors of Darkness, and the eventual lead-up to Stormblood! Don't forget about Papalymo and Yda!
The other dragon there is Vedrfolnir, Vidofnir's brother.
Great episode! And so ends the Heavensward arch. I had the hardest time finishing the MSQ here because I just wanted to stay in Ishgard forever. I spent a ton of time leveling crafters at this point to stall, lol. But all good things must come to an end (even though the game is still good all these years later, so, no need to worry). See you in the next one!
the reason for the hood is a callback to her FFV design where every job had some form of animal ear motif. also that it was probably a single piece during this time so there was no 'unhooded' version of Krile in the database. eventually the costume was made available to players and a two piece version was created. so you will eventually see her in all her unhooded greatness soon enough.
We stan a FF14 streamer who can read
Koji Fox is a crazy person and he created an entire language for the dragons. I thought the noises and stuff were nonsense at first, but no…
When has there ever been such epic music in a boss fight in an MMO?
The dragon you were confused about being in the ending was Vedrfolnir. He's part of a FATE chain in the Churning Mists and is a brother to Vidolfnir. The patch that just dropped tuesday added duty support to the last of the Heavensward dungeons, Sohr Kai included, to allow NPCs like Aymeric and Alphinaud to come with you. Previously at the trial, Vedrfolnir and Vidolfnir carried those two off to their own trials. This was snipped to make things make sense with the support system.
made a mistake on the last video. i combined 3.3 and 3.4. when i was remembering it
'You are late, Warrior of Light."
"A warrior of light is neither late nor early, they arrive exactly when they mean to."
How do you like the first expansion and the patches? How do you like the treats that the game offered? A sweet treat for free trial. The hours of game play for free trial.
Ok, 19 mins in. Had to stop the video to leave a like, such a wonderful performance! Voice of an angel. Ok it was actually that bit of editing that earned the like.
Damn. That scene still gets me. Every damn time. Not as hard as some of the later stuff, granted, but there's definitely some damn ninjas cutting onions around here somewhere …
It is nice that they finally gave "Akh Morn" the proper multi-hit stack marker. When you see that version of the stack marker, do not move until the attack is done especially if the marker ends up on you. I'm going to guess that is what did in several of your comrades in the third phase of the fight with Nidhogg. Odds are good that the sound effect you heard during the fight was probably one of the healers using a "rez macro" to bring someone back and to let the other healer know what's up.
Did you know that you're not the only one who called Estinien by the name of Einstein at first? It makes perfect sense since Estinien is an anagram of Einstein. My mind was blown when I realized this fact.
The dragon that Ser Aymeric was riding is Vedrfolnir. This one is unique among Hraesvelgr's brood in that he is a combat-oriented dragon who protects his family and friends. You can actually get yourself a sparring match with him! First, you will need to do a series of FATEs in The Churning Mists and you will need Flying Unlocked. I would recommend taking at least 4 or 5 other players with you, with one of them being a healer and a tank, since you will need to keep Vedrfolnir's health above a certain amount in order to pass the FATEs that he appears in. Sooner or later, you will run across the FATE "Darkscale Devoureth" where you will need to kill Darkscale quickly and keep Vedrfolnir healed up. Pass this FATE and Vedrfolnir will grant you a match with him. It is an Achievement FATE, so you will need at least one Full Party for this one. This fight takes place on the floating island on the far southwest corner of the map, so you will need flight to get there, but you will get both an Achievement and a Barding for your chocobo that you cannot get anywhere else.
Phew, I went a bit long there… anyhoo! Now that 3.3 is done, all of the HW side content is fully open to you. As the Masked Royal once said: Enjoy!
Congrats 🙂
What a great ending to HW. Glad you enjoyed it!
Congrats bro! Once you reach level 90 you can try killing Nidhogg by yourself for some fun
it's nice to see your channel grow faster and faster. i'm kind of happy that the ffxiv community can help with that. we always love to watch new players go through the story and you certainly keep it entertaining.
i wish you all the best for your journey and your channel and hope you will continue to enjoy the story and share it with us.
1:30:00 Don't know if anyone answered yet, but that dragon is a another descendant of Hraesvelgr, their name is Vedrfolnir. Before they implemented the Trust system in Sohr Khai, Aymeric and Alphinaud would face their own separate trials. Alphinaud faced Vidofnir, and Aymeric was set against Vedrfolnir. It's kinda sad that they changed that part, because it lost the context of having them on that cutscene, but it's also good to have more Trust options for earlier dungeons.
It's not mentioned outright, but when Aymeric asks to be allowed to do "this much at least", I think it's because he was feeling bad because he was set on killing Estinien if he had to do it. Something he clearly didn't want to do but knew he might have to. So in that moment, the "least he could do", was to carry his weight so he can be healed and I think that is a really nice touch.
Of course, at least that's my interpretation.
Other than that, grats on putting an end to the Dragonsong War, it's been one hell of a ride.
EDIT: Also I don't know if this has been mentioned, but if you have some time, I highly suggest you do, if you're interested in some retrospection, the side quest called "The Paths We Walk", which you can pick at House Fortemps from a manservant. It's really nice and it rewards an emote at the end of the quest chain.
