I never minded these, most of which are along MSQ pathings on map, so as long as you use your compass every few quests you get most of them if not all by the time you finish the zone.
Playing through again on an alt and getting the aether currents the second time around wasn't as bad as I knew the zones better and it was after they halved the required amount for HW, STB, and SHB.
I liked the Aether Currents. I love exploring and finding where I can go & such, so looking all over for the Aether currents are no problems. I usually take care of them as soon as I can, exploring the entire zone for them, and if I cant get all of them as part of the zone is locked, I take what I can, progress story, then when the next area is unlocked, GIME MY CURRENTS!
One of my favorite sets of quests. I am also a huge fan of finding players new to an area that need to find the currents and get them on my two-seater mount and fly them around to collect them.
I honestly wish they'd drop that… Like in the entire game… It makes it less fun by only making you waste time. Considering cut scenes take 5-20m now vs 1m… At least don't make us have to ride back and forward 20 times during the same quest… Having stuff drawn out this much is just annoying. It'd be really nice if this practice wasn't even more drawn out in dawntrail like it's been with every expansion… Drawnouttrail?

After WoD/BFA/Legion reputation and exploration grinds in WoW finding some currents was a breeze.
I love getting them all ASAP so I can taxi all my friends around lol
It's not so bad as long as you remember them while you're doing msq, they're so close to the quests pretty often.
tbh I think aether currents got much easier after Heavensward so I'm pretty ok with this.

Game is better without being able to instant warp and speed run everywhere
