In this Final Fantasy XIV stream we wrap the Garlemald section of Endwalker. There’s also this one particular trial that we complete.

More about Final Fantasy 14:
“Final Fantasy XIV[b] is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) for Microsoft Windows personal computers, developed and published by Square Enix in 2010. It is the fourteenth entry in the main Final Fantasy series and the second MMORPG in the series after Final Fantasy XI. Set in the fantasy realm of Eorzea, players take control of a customized avatar as they explore the land and are caught up in both an invasion by the hostile Garlean Empire and the threat of the Primals, the deities of the land’s Beastmen tribes. Eventually, they are embroiled in a plot by a Garlean Legatus to destroy the Primals by bringing one of the planet’s moons down on Eorzea.
Final Fantasy XIV takes place in a high fantasy setting. The main location is Eorzea, a continent on the larger planet Hydaelyn: this contrasts Final Fantasy XI which uses one name to refer to the entire world and its regions. Eorzea is broken up among three main powers: the forest nation of Gridania; the desert-based Ul’dah sultanate; and the thalassocracy of Limsa Lominsa, Eorzea’s dominant maritime power. Other important locations include the scholarly city-state of Sharlayan and the Garlean Empire, a hostile northern power with highly developed technology. Five years prior to the start of the game, the Garlean Empire invaded the land of Ala Mhigo, but were prevented from conquering Eorzea by the attacks of the ancient dragon Midgardsomr and his dragon hordes. In response to the Empire’s threat, the three nations of Eorzea reform the Grand Companies, comprehensive centers of command which combine the cities’ military and economic assets. The Grand Companies attracted people from all walks of life, who take up the mantle of Adventurers.”

I couldn't watch all of it but i loved how much i did, have a nice day ^-^
"Guess I just beat the game cause the last boss is right here"
God I hate it when people in chat confidently assert that their understanding of vaguer parts of the lore is 100% canon and correct, and it just ends up confusing everyone and going in circles for hours. Fact is, some of these lore questions are intentionally vague and unanswered in their entirety. There are certain things we can say for sure, such that people can inherit souls of others from the lifestream, and that at least some of these souls are sundered ancients, but it is never explicitly asserted that there are never any new souls created, or that ALL souls the currently exist are sundered ancient souls. It's simply not explained, in large part because it's not incredibly important either way.
I get that some headcanon interpretations lead to exciting and interesting POTENTIAL conclusions, and I know Kro himself loves trying to galaxy brain the lore and plot which is interesting, but holy fuck is it frustrating when I see people trying to "correct" his understanding with lore that isn't even supposed to be explicitly understood with one "divine" interpretation yet. IMO it's much more interesting, if people must backseat lore, that they stick to repeating quotes from the game, rather than their interpretations or inferences.
The important parts of FF14 lore aren't really particularly complicated precisely because the game itself knows when not to overexplain things and let certain parts be mysteries to be pondered. And the lore that is solid is still super, super interesting and really quite amazing writing without needing to layer conjecture upon conjecture to the point where people start completely reinterpreting basic, uncomplicated plot points and make them beyond confusing for the uninitiated.
So I'm not the only one who got Evangelion vibes upon arrival to Mare Lamentorum
To each their own of course, but I think when a streamer goes to new content with preformed party of people who already did that content, it kills half of the fun. Of course there’s gonna be Rescue-hero or safety dorito to follow… I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve seen this :/
Lol no this is just the beginning
In this stream, Kro has an existential crisis over how perfectly subverted his expectations have been, due to years of playing games where writing a story was secondary to gaming mechanics rather than paramount to them and compelling in their own right.
And we all sat and ate our popcorn in glee knowing he’s not at the top of the mountain, but the tip of the iceberg.
I keep begging my friend to play more Endwalker and he’s just not interested. Then kro gets ahead of him and I’m like welp Atlest that’s another person who is well on their way to catching up!
Its entirely probable that Zenos is sundered, but wasnt anyone of major importance.
Imagine, if they present the final boss only 1/3rd of the way through, what else the game actually has in store for you. It makes sense once you get past this fight c:
I love how his mind got blown… for the rest… insert infinite smiley!
Where all the smiles during live T.T
I appreciate your stream lives being up, Kro!! I get super distracted with my kiddo being on holidays, but morning is my time to play catch up. So excited to watch your progress!!
Yoshi-P : This will be the Culmination of the Hydaelyn and Zodiark storyline!
Players: Wooo!!! Cant wait for this epic confrontation!
First boss battle happens, WoL Kills Zodiark in the first 2-3 hours of the expansoin.
Players: Wait, WUT?!?!?!!?
Dont think 'any' of us were expecting that plot twist from Yoshi's little minx of a Story-writer 😀
