FFXIV’s Dawntrail expansion is NO DOUBT harder than previous expansion launch content and I feel like people aren’t bringing up some points that I feel need to be said. This is the peak premiere raid content in FFXIV for more casual players who will never play savage, this content should last longer than an hour

Went to a furry convention Thurs/Fri/Saturday (birthday) and I've never felt as lost before so I didn't even bother going today. What a bummer. I don't fit in anywhere. Yo this really is the end for me haha. First time going to a con cause I'm so desperately wanting friends and a better life and seeing it blow up in my face so profoundly… wowwww……
its really not that much harder though. im so suprised at players complaining about difficulty when theyve done all the expansions and have been playing for years. im not perfect i died in them but i had fun doing it.
Still to easy, needs a bit more.
The contents difficulty is literally the exact same, except they changed the orange AoE markers with unique boss markers that increase immersion. No clue why people say it's harder.
It's a good deal harder than the previous but it's really fun for casuals who don't want to bother with extreme/savage punishing difficulty.
I'm preaty much casual player. No it's not too hard, it's just more challenging especially the first lv 100 dungeon. The O + boss was masive difficulty spike in comparison to the previous one.
As for new raid i wouldn't say they are much harder than Pandemonium. Except maybe Bee.
Who the f care if you good or bad in wideo game
3:30 as a solo player that happens to me regularly xD not even "hi whatsup".
Dawntrails difficulty level reminds me a bit of Heavensward. Which is really nice, i love the new hard hitting expert dungeons.
Also sorry to hear that you got cheated on, went through the same. Hope you can find some peace and closure soon. >.<
On lvl 100 it’s time to git gud finally
I wouldn't say that the overall raid difficulty had really increased but they have broken out of the standard in, out stack, spread attacks from the EW raids and sprinkled in some more varied moves that fit with the themes of each fight and require you to to pay attention to what’s going on around you. Overall I think the fight design in Dawntrail is moving in the right direction (apart from a certain expert boss) and I want to see how they build on this in the patch content.
Maybe not the best thumbnail?
I’ve never died so much in dungeons as I have leveling my VPR through Dawntrail. Some of that can be attributed to me switching from ranged to melee, but this is by far the most fun I’ve had in the game.
New player on raid brought low gear 690 made normal raid long to finish this what always happens after 4 weak everyone kill boss faster and savage player will focus clear savage than normal run
It’s just like the pandemonium normal raids. I don’t t see why it’s too hard.
From my casual perspective, the combat is definitely a bit more difficult, but also a lot more enjoyable and interesting. I found M4 normal pretty tough, and consequently the eventual clear was very satisfying. It’s okay to fail, in fact it’s the best way to learn.
People who complain about the difficulty are just bad at the game and hate putting in effort
Yeah it’s not that hard, it’s even more engaging which I like, having said that… I think we, as a community, shouldn’t be so mean about this, it’s been eye opening, this community used to be a lot more respectful and kind smh
Hmm speaking of difficulty. I havent done raiding yet but even then it feels better now compared to EW where it is memorization.
I enjoyed Skydeep because each boss just gives you a puzzle but I noticed a massive bump on variation like the side wide AoEs where there is a general direction but its not exactly a full clean 50%.
A lot of the new dungeons introduced variation which is fine but I feel like people got used to routine that sudden surprises and variation does spike the difficulty.
I had ran through Vanguard with an unprepared group that first timed it and they struggled quite a lot due to the presence of variance. But once they wiped a few times. They got it.
Im genuinely looking forward to raids to see if we got more RNG related mechanics.
I enjoy the addition of variation but if you are used to choreographed fight design. It's going to be a struggle to account for variance.
But I think that is the beauty of DT with how you have lots of variance but its something you can plan ahead if you are more about the grace under pressure type of person.
But I dont see that for majority where they are quite used to the same markers.
WHAT?!?!
No.
NO IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE NERFED.
You just GOT there.
Cole: I"'m trash at this game"
Also Cole: Does Ultimate raids with all party members effects on…
Yeah, I don't buy your humble act
is a little harder with new markers etc. But I LOVE it
well said Cole! Looking forward to your next one. 😀
First boss in dreambrought lvl 100 dungeon was hated lol is bit difficult though
I personally liked the panda normals. But I thought the fights were interesting and the story for that raid series had my attention.
I wish dungeon and normal raid tank busters hit much harder to account for the mit power creep of tanks, but besides that I'm very satisfied with the normal content of this expansion and I really hope this becomes the new normal in the future. This is much more enjoyable.
Look ive died doing the new stuff trying to figure out mechs ..but its fun mann..futher more only thing they change to was the bosses tells on the mech ..we need that to keep the game interesting if you dont enjoy doing certain stuff dont do it period ..common sense..dont mess up the content for those who are haveing fun with it
I thought it was harder as well but once I started to actually pay attention to the mechanics lol it got easy like everything else
As a filthy casual myself, the difficulty is just fine. All the game is reminding me to do is pay attention and not faceroll content like before.
Expert dungs and normal raids can be a more difficult but not msq dungs they have no place to be they must stay true casusl content not the bs dt did in it last 2 dungs .they need to have clear mechanics and not stress and annjoy casual players. By taking the ew dung style you pissed of most casual off ppl wanna have fun and relaxing time but the dungs stupid "random bs go " is annjoying . By forcing casual to change their playstyle in THEIR CONTENT you simple spit in their face .
All this complaining about difficulty is some Paid for story skip behavior
That thread was the most hate filled vitriol i have read in a very long time. Mocking disabled people and calling casuals trash to be purged. Most of that stuff is now deleted by mods but I saw it .. unsubbed.. the idea of teaming those people make me sick.
Finished every raid casually on day one. The only thing I disliked is that I joined two of them after people quit so I did not watch the intro CS.
It's like you reached college, and still takes 15s to do 2+2=4 math.
While DT msq is like ask you to calculate 5*12=60 within 10s.
At some point I expect you to learn something. I think there's not much of a difference, just mechanic resolves faster.
And up to EW msq, usually there will be safe spot where you can just stand there until mechanic resolves, and you're good. in DT You are forced to learn to dodge from 3 to 1. where the safe spot is the first area the boss jumped to. While you are waiting in the last area the boss will jump to.
All I’m saying is devs nerfed weapons in helldivers and people said get good and don’t play. Now those same people are crying that no one plays. I see the same happening to Ff14. Normal content shouldn’t require this level of detail.
This game is hardly Elden ring difficulty. I can appreciate some noticing the slight raise in challenge (which is a good thing because the game was brain-dead), but threatening to quit the game because of it just feels a bit weak & entitled.
Try the fights a few more times & get better gear. Easy mode will come with practice.
I don't to Savage raids and extremes maybe once in a blue moon if I feel like it. And I absolutely LOVE the new difficulty. The mechanics are so refreshing and it's been so fun figuring it all out. Finally no longer bored. This is a great new direction… I really want them to continue like this.
You say just "get good" but some poeple just arnt able to, I have practiced and practiced and finally was getting more confident were I was as a player. It took me 4 or 5 tries for each dungeon in the DT MSQ, crying and frustration does not equate to fun for some people, I got so frustrated and scared I had to get my BF to finish the last trial were you have to play with real people (maybe I would have been fine, but nothing up to this point made me feel encouraged). I have researched and put time in this game too, I just feel like its insulting to tell peple just get good. Im afraid to even try any of the optional dungeons in DT because I dont want to instant die to mechanics I dont know. I feel the level is too hard compared to the the expansions I have played.
The normal raids are still way too easy imo, i went in and cleared them all withouth a single wipe or dieing once.
Challenging is good for you fam. Get good.
so far dawntrail is just difficult enough to still be boring but not allow me to watch videos while I play it which is annoying.
I don't do savage mainly because I can't spare the time for regular/organized prog with a static
But I have to admit that I miss a bit of difficulty in the normal content for me to stay interested in playing and the fact that DT's mechanics were a bit more punitive was a blast to me !
The first tier of the normal raid is awesome !
If these bros think that these normal mode raids are hard, they never did vishap and nidhogg on content before their nerfs. THAT shit was hard when it first released. I remember failing like 4 duty finders before finally clearing vishap. And nidhogg took 2 FULL lockouts before I was able to clear it.
really hope they don't nerf it. I really like how fun it is to not turn off my brain during dr-extreme/normal raid for once.
Everybody "thinks" (and by thinking I mean following the "cool train") that DT is not hard at all.
the youtuber: "I'm gonna make a video about how differently I think."
the same youtuber: "I think DT is not hard at all".
