"How should I set my mindset before I begin this?" I find setting your mind on "skipping every cutscene with Wuk Lamat in it" to be a good approach.
Note the fake Sphene acknowledged the 'Funeral Ceremony' in her speech.
Yeah at this point you're just desperately wanting to be negative about every little thing. Used to really love watching you but all you do is complain and be so obnoxious. (Take the fake smile off the thumbnail lmao)
"This is not how souls work in canon" Huh…zepla did you forget shadowbringers? And how we transports the scions between the rift? We get a whole separation of Souls and Memories.
I personally found this whole patch to be captivating. Its a shame you still arnt getting hooked. Seems like you probably arnt going to like the story until 8.0 at the very least.
"These are deep psychological questions we're not discussing" I mean… that's literally what they're doing, right there on the screen as you say they aren't?
I am looking forward to the x.3 patch! This patch set up a mystery I want to solve. Making (specifically) 5k Endless makes no sense. I hope they will explain more of the regulator stuff!
people really cant handle a streamers opinion huh?
Gulool Ja needs to pay a visit to Thon Sul 😁
Westeners love exaggerating everything out of proportion.
3:18:40 "Why would you want to remove the memories of the person you lost?" My personal theory: The original Sphene's death caused the Alexandrians to create the Endless and the processes around them in the first place. She didn't have a regulator recording her thoughts/memories keeping them ready to upload at the moment of death, because it didn't exist at the time. The first generation of the Endless era probably "donated" their collective memories of Sphene to recreate her after her death, and it eventually turned into tradition.
This expansion should’ve just been a beach episode change my mind
I called it that they weren’t done with Sphene.
I too wouldnt want to erase the memories of the people I loved that has passed away, but it's interesting that Alexandrian's do because their culture is structured like that. Their relationship with death (or the lack of it) is alien to us and for that reason I find it interesting. I take as similar to people that abuse alcohol to numb themselves from the memories of trauma and grief, but to another new level at the point where their very society is based around it. Its a common sci-fi trope to exaggerate some aspect of our society and I dont think the msq did anything too uncommon. I could easily see Alexandria being featured in a star trek episode as an alien culture lol
I hate to say it, but I logged in after not having been on in a few months, encountered that first seen where WL randomly turns up and logged off. Just… no. I don't want to hang out with her for an expansion.
zoraal ja thought he was sterile, which is why he was also freaking out. lore
While Wuk Lamat had her part in this patch story, I think we're heading in the right direction. She wasn't the main focus this time.
Sometimes I think the DT writers overestimated the ability of players to understand and accept aspects of the story without a heavy dose of hand holding. There were some general flaws in the writing to be sure, but I see way too many that are just incapable of grasping some of the concepts which leaned on familiar sci-fi tropes. "Souls" in FFXIV are more akin to a spark of life than the core of a being. What Alexandrians created was an artificial Aetherial Sea. (edit: 3rd wing of Pandemonium foreshadowed these ideas already)
To me the regulators make perfect sense with our understanding of souls. The regulators are just mini Kairos, with the added ability that ascians have of taking the soul from the regular cycle and into its own. It could uses some more refreshers / explanation though, maybe Urianger coming back to show off his ARR slideshow on ascians again or something, make it a little clearer lol. While I get the story and like where its going, I do really worry if this level of writing continues. Its trying to put too many threads together at once.
This oatch was gine until the end. The soul stuff just feels like a copycat of how shadowbringers post msq was. The potential ascians is a high point considering we know some are around. Hoping for a new take on the stories.
I've been trying to find you Zepla!!!
"Ohhh, I know you have"
holy fuck my sides lol.
That final boss is truly great.
Devs! More interactable ground maps pls!
Theyre fun and way more memorable!
(E4S, first 2 bosses of Aglaia, etc)
Watching this makes me think Zepla doesn't like FFXIV anymore.
Which is fine, but then why force yourself to play it? You are just making the people who liked it feel bad for it.
I mostley log in for MSQ and Allied society. I have many jobs to 100 (mostley DPS) and seeing that Zepla only has the 2 jobs she did MSQ with. It's a bit sad.
roh-neck huh
6:11 I like the idea of someone lamenting about their life issues at a Taco Bell and then the President just shows up and is like "Anything I can do to help?"
For the Alexandrians the soul is a resource. A person, for them, it's a collection of memories
18:04 this part really bothered me. I get from a gameplay perspective we can't avoid going. But from an immersion perspective, I said no, and the game was like "yeah but, can you do it anyway?"
Shale is seriously the best character this expansion. Also, the dungeon feels like it would be at home in a WoW raid like Naxx or ICC. Also, there were 3 people in the echo cutscene. Zoral Ja, who is dead, Kanilokka who you already fought, and Teeshal Ja. In a facility designed to put mortal souls into beasts. Who's soul do you think you were communing with? You've pretty much murdered this kid's entire family at this point.
Im not sure how you don't understand how souls, regulators and the memories don't work when we literally saw Hermes use Kairos. A literal device that was used to guess what? Alter memories. You're thinking in such a narrow point and I'm sorry but it is very narrow. Not everyone in Alexendria uses the regulators first and foremost, second a lot of people do not want to deal with the pain of losing a loved one, heck a lot can't even deal with a failed relationship and would rather want to just forget it so they can't deal with pain. People cope with things differently, also if you're born into a society where the majority does use regulators you yourself are going to want to use it because of that and because of the benefits such as extra lives. We only saw how souls work with The source, it's not unbelievable to assume that technology on another shard could be used in a way that the regulators are. Let's not even forget the whole soul calling thing we had in shadowbringer and that we literally had the scions souls get put into crystals as a vessel.
Zepla is just in this negative spiral lately, I think it's time to drop ff, go back to WoW watching her lately has been hard, I've already stopped watching a while ago but I do check in from time to time and like everytime I see something from her it's just so negative
5:37 My words out loud when I experienced this were "Oh for f###'s sake, piss off"
