  1. Playing it for the first time this very moment! Half way done with Shadowbringers and it's been a blast!
Luckily FFXVI finally convinced me to try it out!

  2. This is one of the best themes in the game. During Twinning it was hard to focus on the fight cause the music was just too good! And i was fightning and jaming in the same time. It gives you such a good vibe. 😃 Happy that you liked it too !

  3. to analyze this theme and all the leitmotivs, you need to first hear. crystal tower theme/ almost any alexander raid theme/ omega eScape. bc Twinning is a mash of all that

  4. Heyy @AtlasBenighted

Thank you for the request ! And I’m very glad to see you’ve enjoyed another one of my favs from FFXIV’s awesome collection of tracks ! 😀

You’ve hit point a lot of what I felt with it and even as many commented this has a mix of Omega/Alexander/Crystal Tower’s themes mish-mashed together in a flavorful way.

Soken REALLY has a vast discography in full scale being a musical galore that he’s truly remarkable to me as a legend and a spiritual successor to Nobuo Uematsu along with notable ones who put their hand in composing parts of FF as a whole.

I hope others too can contribute and elaborate more on A LOT of what comes with not only 14 but Final Fantasy as a WHOLE as to what also truly makes it an ultimate realm of it’s own’s league in of itself as a series !

    Thanks brother 😀 ❤️

  5. So basically this OST is for a dungeon, where several storylines converge, that's why it is an amalgamation of several leitmotifs.
0:08 – Rise, the theme of Alexander Prime
0:25 – Out of the Labyrinth, the theme of Syrcus Tower
0:37 – eScape, the theme of Omega
1:22 – another motif from Out of the Labyrinth
1:45 – Order Yet Undeciphered, the theme of Azys Lla
2:08 – Prelude, THE Final Fantasy motif

  6. It doesnt really get in the way, boss dialogue appears in a box at the top of your screen and in the case of dungeons specifically, the music shifts to a boss theme and then back to the dungeon theme in between.

  7. Majority of the times, the music actually matches the boss fights.
Its why for the most part in the fighting community calls FFXIV a retirement home since everything is based on a tempo.

There's several fights I can name on the top of my head where the boss music sync's with the mechanics.
    The Warring Triad in general
    Lahkishm, 4 lords
Alexander, Omega and even Pandamoneum have have some bosses where the music sync's with the fight a bit too good.
Then the current 24 group raid content. I would honestly add in the combat.

In the BALANCE….that song and fight sync so damn well its ungodly.

  8. Th lyrics of this are taken from "eScape" – the theme of Omega, one of the most tragic characters in the game. Without spoilers, it is an examination of Omega's headspace, exploring its goals and dreams. This dungeon is themed partially around Omega, so they reused that theme.

  9. I don't know if it's the way the game is mixed, but I've never had lyrics get in the way of gameplay. I could be wrong but I want to say that boss sounds all feel centered while the background music has a wider soundstage.

Weirdly enough, the only times the lyrics have bothered me have all been during non-combat story scenes where plot is happening but there is a lady singing beautify in the background so I miss what's being said.

  10. You should give the full Shiva theme: Footsteps in the Snow/Oblivion. For me it was the first moment I really took notice of how the music add to the raids, and with a lot of FFXIV sound track needs to be paired with songs from both phases of a boss.

  11. While I think it's fair to be concerned that gameplay sounds and dialogue might not play nice with BGM with vocals, but I rarely see anyone fussed about that sort of thing. Indeed, whenever I get this dungeon someone will announce that everyone needs to crank the BGM to 100, which may also come with silencing everything else.

  12. The cool thing about the transistion on synthesisers you said you like is that melody is a reference to a raid from the base game basically 30 levels ago. Because the action takes place in the same location.
