I just found your channel. With the rise of EW. Enjoying the content. Even if I understand monk to a degree. Hearing others out helps alot with digging deeper into the class. Keep it up!
Incase someone skips ahead in the video, it's important to note that if you wanna play monk OPTIMALLY, you don't wanna follow this video. This rotation is how I WISH monk played, but in reality you kind of need to do two solar nadi's in the beginning because else your blitz won't line up with everyone elses buffs throughout a fight. We're not talking about doing an unintuitive rotation to squeeze 50 more potency out of the job, no, this is actually like a proper big deal.
Please understand that this video is a foundation setter for people to look at the monk rotation as a whole and get you a starting point with a breakdown. The most current optimal opener is different and requires a way that should be built up after you understand the foundation because of how unnatural it follows the new rotation (Check out "The Balance" discord for the text information on that). Let me know if you enjoy this type of long form content because this was my first shot at it 😀. I will work on dropping the optimal endgame content in the future to help those who are more into that content.
Also I put chapters for easy access to the information you are looking for! Happy Questing!
Me: during ShB Oooh a MNK guide. Lemme see this, I want to optimise MNK more
YouTube: during EW Yo, I heard you like MNK! Here's a video!
Jokes aside, I respect the videos and the time you're putting into these man. Keep training those GCDs and may the chakras keep flowing!
As a main tank through SB I've been hesitant to start monk before this. Thank you brother
The big reason I appreciate your videos is because you had the initial disappointment of everyone else but you're actually giving EW a fair shot. I don't like how most are being overly critical.
I love getting in-depth with this. 30 min is great. Hearing the rotation explained and also the skills explained as you go is super helpful. Some of these other vids just blast through, sometimes with no explanation so I appreciate the deep dive. Never hurts to hear it in case I , myself, may have misunderstood something too.
I don't raid, but I do a lot of dungeons. I like building up to Elixir Field ( since that used to be our ogcd AOE) but once you do Flint you are locked out of it and have to do Tornado kick. So I end up not doing flint and just keep repeating Dragon/Boot to do more Elixir in between Bosses to AOE down trash.
Unless I get to the boss, then it's the normal Elixir/Flint/Tornado.
Of course, we have Enlightenment( Line AOE) but I keep forgetting I have it! 😉
Anyway,..great addition to the EW Monk vids!
Monk bois need to stick together aint many of us out there lmao
for 90 levels bootshine is our best attack………………… still the same animation, with no flair, or speciall effects…. playing summoner 90 then changing to monk is a cruel joke
I really like monk but all this jank is killing me ;_;
Hi, just some clarification regarding the buff names, they changed in other jobs too, I heard the reason behind is to make more "user friendly", since now the aoe rotations also apply the buffs it could cause some confusion to new players they would be like " why am I getting a twin snakes buff/proc from the aoe rotation if I didnt even use the skill?".
Never watch the full video of a guidevideo, but you explained it so good bro 🥵
Thanks for the help, very informative 10/10
Excellently done. You've made learning all of this fun and I look forward to the content you create in the future. Very easy to digest.
This is the type of video I've been looking for! Thank you for helping me, finally going to try monk in endwalker after 10 years of never getting him past level 30 :D. I can't wait to slap things with my tiny lala fists.
Monk was the very first job I played when I began playing ffxiv. I stopped playing to play other jobs. Picked it up again after the changes. I really like this class. It's more fun to me than samurai or dragoon imo. Idk why I stopped playing it. If reaper wasn't released I probably would have mained monk this expansion. or summoner…
What about the PB aoe?
i've been using six sided star after blitz burst. no idea where to put it now…
So now i have monk level 90 i use that my max damage 39k No buff full critic
This video is awesome, thanks!!!!
I'm only 62 as monk and I love it, but I would prefer if we started in opo opo form and we didn't need form shift which isn't even off the GCD! This would get rid of a lot of jank tho imo. Thankfully Masterful Blitz grants it too.
Btw I thought leaden sounded like lead-en, like the chemical element, where does this lay-den pronunciation come from? 😉 i'm not a native English speaker tho
