  1. 70-80 songs are a lot. But 2017 Soken got the Guinness World record for "The most original pieces of music in a video game". He had 384 songs in FFXIV in 2017. Who knows how many songs he added since 😀

  2. Basically, the idea behind the experience system was that the hard caps would encourage people to level other classes (horizontal progression) while allowing the more casual players to keep up with the rest of the pack on their primary class (vertical progression). In reality, it forced people to find bugs and work arounds to bypass the system entirely. For example, Leves are suppose to be sort of be the daily quest system of the game, with a cap of an allowance which grew _very slowly_. The cap still exists in FF14 by the way, just no longer an issue since no one bothers with leves and they raised it to like 100 per a player. You could get around your personal cap by joining someone else's leve and getting the rewards, so people would party up until they were out of allowed leves, then reform under another group member and do their leves. Sort of like how treasure hunt groups work now. Basically, all of it's systems, from teleporting to experience and questing were on timers and no one who plays MMOs likes timers.

  3. At the time when I beta tested 1.0, I didn't mind a lot of the system because it was basically like FFXI online which I was a veteran of 8 years at that point. Just like FFXI, I didn't have to use mouse to navigate in FFXIV 1.0. I didn't care about jumping because we also didn't have one in FFXI online. The ones that bother me was the fatigue system which was the deal breaker for me then. I remember every hour you played, there was an echo in your chat stating that "You have been playing XX hours. Please consider taking a rest." or along that line. It made me feel self conscious about my free time.

  4. in regards to Miqo'te and Roes they had the missing genders (and indeed those are playable in the current game) they were just not playable, the leader of Limsa Lominsa even back in 1.0 was fem Roe though I think you didn't see her until just before the shutdown.

  5. Hey man, good work on the videos. I love seeing your reaction to the fall and rise of FFXIV and all other content so far.

I suspect your discord I s keeping you apprised of FFXIV video content but wanted to suggest this is it went under the radar.

You can watch it before or after reacting to the fall and rise of FFXIV but this video is a narrated overview of the 1.0 storyline. The narrator is the same one from ARR and this video was part of the bonus content legacy players got when ARR was released.

  6. the giant enemy crab reminded me there's a special fate just south Costa del Sol which title and boss name are both a funny reference to the tv show "House", you should check it out just for the shits and giggles xD (also i believe it drops a minion for participating in it)
