Cape Westwind (Rhitahtyn) Guide – Final Fantasy XIV

A guide to the Trial ‘Cape Westwind’ in Final Fantasy XIV.

There was definitely some sadness at hearing this legendary trial won’t be in the game much longer. I struggle to imagine the sprout experience that lacks this fight, especially when it features a party of experienced players placing waymarks, posting macros and spamming the panic emote.

If you do actually want to go back and have some fun with it before it’s removed, I recommend
-Minimum iLVL
-Silenced Echo
-No Jobstone

Special thanks to the members of The Zodiac Braves – Spriggan for helping me with my research for this guide!

  1. As someone who has only ever done this fight through dutyfinder, I just have to say, "wait, there are supposed to be adds?" Good tutorial, and might actually be a useful overview of the mechanics when it becomes a solo duty!

  2. Man we had this appeared in roulette with 4 sprouts and let me tell you, we stuck 3 hours and a half. What saved us was the last minute bard dot with last dps standing.

Those puddles man. Healers cant even get enough mana to revive everyone. Knowing who and after which mech its gonna hit really helps!

  3. This reminds me of those Rick & Morty improv skits (the TV show episodes) where the VAs just kinda bullshitted some stuff on the spot and you can tell. This is the Hector version, I'm imagining him having a hard time keeping a straight face.

  4. it's worth noting, the adds don't have any kind of enrage, so if you're confident in your healers you can just kill one of them and ignore the other one for the rest of the fight

  5. I've got friends that have been afraid to play because they don't think they'll be able to handle the tougher mechanics of fights like this. Hopefully, showing this to them should help them understand that there are resources out there to help everyone get better at the game.
