  1. I'd add;
    6. Political: Since many outrage farmers and people making money on stirring up political aggression has started targeting games for content. Among these are FF14 (having been labeled that nebulous and non-defined term "woke")… This will have a stochastic-like effect in the end…

    Though, I guess you could put this under #1.

  3. Nothing much I can add here but that I remember this happening last expansion (and probably several others before, it's been too long…) and all we as a playerbase could do was wait it out. A private server I'm part of got hit pretty badly with DDOS attacks a few months back and it took the development team a month or two before defenses had been fully hardened against the method they were using.

  4. While I think it's mostly kids doing it, it could also be real competition, such as WoW ESO behind it.
    I know what you're all thinking, nowaaay! but if things get bad enough? Surely these tuxedo guys will do anything? At this point it's probably just kids. Later point is still just kids but you never reallyt know.

  5. I have a theory on why these attacks keep happening…
    These attacks are most likely coming from people who have been banned from FFXIV, basically saying "If I'm not allowed to have fun, nobody can!"
    They want this game to suffer for their amusement.
    Again, this is only a theory. so take it with a grain of salt lol
