  1. FFXIV and WoW have had some back and forths. One about dropping meteors. They also both congratulated each other on thier expansions. But WoW Twitter definitely ain't gonna be like, please don't leave us for 14!

  2. Endwalker will be the end expansion of an amazing storytelling from a great game that is always improving. So yeah… it will hit Blizzard like a moon falling from the sky!

  3. It’s not like this wasn’t unexpected.

On EVERY patch video or video relating to wow, there’s at least 20 or so comments, all with a lot of likes and upvotes, saying nah I love FFXIV!

So researching is not only logical, but expected seeing as how I’m SURE they realize “oh shit there’s a huge chunk in this game I wonder what the appeal is?”

Still fun to see them nervous though. It’s good for competition anyway for both for sure

  4. FF14 is an rpg with social elements. Not an MMO. It’s not open world. Gear means nothing. Pvp is a joke. There is no competitiveness and the skill cap is as low as the gum on my shoe. If you are looking for a game without struggle, challenge, complexity or a requirement to actually use your brain, then FF14 is perfect for you. It’s got pretty colors too. Woot.

  5. Does no one remember that WoW used to CONSTANTLY try to torpedo their competition? Any time a new game came out or had a special event, WoW had a special event to coincide with it in order to siren song people to stay with WoW. ALL THE TIME. They've even done it with FFXIV as recently as the Shadowbringers release but for the first time I can remember, it failed spectacularly.

  6. Shadowlands was good for me..

    Played shadowlands for 1 month..
    Noticing new crafting materials…

Farming and building up gold using new materials for professions..

Use all the gold to buy tokens to increase bnet balance into $345 and to save another 10 wow token in game..

    Stop subscribing..

Play other game (in this case, ffxiv)

    Profit.

  7. I've missed the question: "How do you think can we make the game FUN for you again?"
You know, something that doesn't include buying something…..

  8. Why would Blizzard start caring about what the players think now? I mean, why break their winning streak of ignoring their player base? Ooooh, yeah, they’re losing future cash shop purchasers…now it makes sense.

  9. Expecting WoW devs to comment on FF? How about playing their own game regularly first lol. Imagine playing the game you're making and enjoying it.

  10. Confirmation that the patch launch date was brought forward due to blizz dropping their arse over FF14! I still stand by what I predict, 9.1 will get old very quick and wow will bleed players like never before. Loads I know have just signed off SL and will wait in hope for 10.0

  11. When will you all realize how bad Blizzard is as a company. I know people have been trashing them as of lately. They will NEVER listen to the community. Dont you know they are all above you

  12. I think this is good for both games, healthy and good competition will improve both games. On the other hand, seeing Blizzard panic over FF certainly warms my heart. Hopefully blizz finally understands some things.

  13. Yeah, I may be going back to finishing leveling my Lallafel in FF14. 😕 It sucks because I like the new PvP talents for my Ele Shaman but after a week the game is still so damn boring.

  14. Blizzard: Oh no, our playerbase is defecting to FFXIV
Activision: Well then you better come up with some clever monetization to milk the remaining ones even harder.

  15. They need a fucking slap in the face; there's nothing I'd love more than for WoW to lose tons of subs, Ion and the jokers to get replaced, so we can get a good game again

  16. Their research will be quite flawed as I feel many of those who want to play end walker are currently not paying attention to wow XD. Myself included lol.

  17. I'm not going to waste my time bashing Blizzard; it just doesn't seem like a worthy time investment. FF14 is experiencing an amazing renaissance at the moment, and good for them. From what I have seen (and I truly do not follow either game religiously), the developers of FF14 are quite humble and genuinely seem to care about the player experience. With my 16 years experience with WoW, this was similar to the Dev/Player interaction in early WoW days. I also have seen that while FF14 devs studied WoW to understand what made it great; they are now blazing their own trail and should be respected for it. Learning lessons, and then sticking to those lessons is absolutely a winning strategy.

For whatever reasons Blizzard/WoW have experienced their downturn, they have made their own bed; it was absolutely not forced on them by the players. The developers also do not accept any blame whatsoever, and offer heavily biased opinions based upon unseen metrics to support those opinions. Of course, us on the outside know damn near nothing. For all we know, the WoW developers really do care, but are hamstrung by corporate greed and oversight. I would say that's probably a fair statement. Then again, numerous times I have read Blizzard employee Twitter posts that absolutely strike a condescending tone. While they may have not necessarily created the bed they sleep in… they sure do look comfortable wallowing away in that mud.

While I think that true competition would deliver two quality products, at this point I'm afraid Blizzard will not take appropriate actions to correct their trajectory. The iron wall they've built up around them to shut out negative feedback has created an internal echo chamber. By the time they realize it and reach out to the players, there will not be enough players left to tell the world about any improvements WoW has made at that time.

Wait and see then how well your marketing strategies go. You will lack influential players whom you have often leaned heavily upon for marketing and drawing in/back in players in the past. Those players, while certainly profiting from their pushing of your game in the past, will always vehemently push the game they are most passionate about. And by that time (WoW/Blizzard are in no way considered agile), that game with be FF14, or any of the other MMOs coming out recently.

No king rules forever; especially one who willingly abdicates their throne.
