  1. Wasn't it mentioned in the game before that the Ice element has the highest affinity to Light, which explains why Paladin's "Holy Spirit" skill effect is shaped like an icicle? Not to mention whole deal with Shiva in Shb.

  2. Assuming Hythlodaeus’ account of the creation of Zodiark and Hydaelyn is accurate, I think it’s pretty clear which is which.

Zodiark rejuvenated the land and brought back other living species, which would make him astral and darkness. That doesn’t necessarily make him “Good,”though… he was essentially conceived as a tool for jumpstarting life. Reversing the damage done by the Final Days? Good. Bringing back all the dead Ascians through the sacrifice of other life? Not so much.

Hydaelyn’s purpose and power, by contrast, was to weaken Zodiark, and to split things apart so that they’re diminished in all respect, making her umbral and light. She was also created to be a tool, specifically to prevent any further sacrifices to Zodiark. While that’s unambiguously a good thing given what’s necessary for Rejoining, the “goodness” of Hydaelyn should really be attributed to her creators, not to Hydaelyn herself.

  3. Jesse here's the thing. I simply do not have time to play an MMO right now, but im finding a newfound fascination in the final fantasy universe and would LOVE to be able to watch a full series of Final Fantasy 101

  5. I'm pretty sure the folks from the First have it right and Hydaelyn is keeping the souls of everyone who lived on the original Source in stasis by separating them into shards because the world and everyone's souls would probably be completely destroyed somehow if she was never summoned whether that be through the breakdown of the lifestream or another reason. If I understand it correctly right now every soul that's whole enough to go to the lifestream when their body dies gets reborn into another body eventually and that status quo is the stasis. Another lore video with spoilers I'd like to see would be one that explains the shards and Hydaelyn/Zodiark more since that topic is confusing to many players in the early expansions.
