So on the topic of the relic grind being gone, it feels like you accomplished more with the actual grind. Current relic is just logging in daily for upgrades and doesnt feel like an accomplishment, just a "hey you logged in so many days and did your daily roulettes, here is a relic woohoo…." feel.
Zepla is really on point with very humble way of expressing what FFXIV is lacking. It's getting more RPG and keep losing MMO elements which is already less content on that side.
Honestly, the main reason I grew bored is that jobs aren't fun to play which makes any battle content unfun to play as a result.
The simplification on most jobs is just too much and 2 minute rotation amplifies the feeling.. sniffing a lot of hopium that DT addresses the issue.
And there's just not much in terms of goals left for me to chase, at least ones I enjoy chasing (basically anything that isn't DoH related)

I'll be the person who probably can point out what some veterans are trying to say: FFXIV is being actively made easier. This is a fact, not an opinion, from removal of skills such as SAM's Kaiten, the removal of DoTs on SMN, the simplicity of DNC being made even more simple, etc, no one at all has asked for these kinds of changes, SE has been listening to the minority of players at times who state that they aren't able to do anything because they consider dungeons and class rotations as too hard to do and what people don't seem to understand is that there were plenty of options for both people of high and low skill levels, rather than take the homogeneous approach, they could have reinforced their foundation to better prepare people to increase overall skill levels. But rather than do this, they choose to make changes like WAR getting a circle AoE for Overpower, a good change on paper, until you realize that their were 3 other tanks that already did that, why make 1 like the others rather than keeping it different to preserve that jobs have their quirks/nuances?? Jobs are MEANT to play differently, but right now all tanks and healers are mostly the same with little difference and it's stale and boring, I understand it's easier to balance but it worked in ShB, why not in EndWalker too?? Why did AST have to lose Noct Sect? Why did SAM lose Kaiten? Why hasn't the issue with SCH's 60 skill been addressed? Why does DRK STILL have Enhanced Unmend? Rather than fix actual problems with class design, they're focused on deleting things that make jobs complicated to make it easier for players to play better, but the conflict of interest is that those same players don't care and still won't play correctly, which is why in patches SE and Yoshi P have BUFFED no-combo GCD actions….why are you rewarding people for pressing the wrong button inputs????? Point is I love the game and have recently returned and will continue to have fun, but do not think that SE is 100% doing the right changes. They still have yet to fix the fact that BRD has a useless skill for years that literally NO ONE uses called Repelling Shot….let that set in, but yes, we needed SCH's Expedient to be nerfed 😐
Ok the context of " go play others games if you have nothing to do " is BS I'm sorry to say that but this a MMORPG here we suppose to have things to do in it no matter the time ! Like its not like a offiline game when you finish the game you can play something else that's totally fine but for a MMORPG it should be this way ! At all I'm sorry to say that but people need to stop that " go play other games bull crap " and make a wake up call to the developers !

My personal biggest complaint about EW is that it doesn’t feel like an mmo to me. You never see players doing content unless you queue up for some instanced small scale thing such as raids and dungeons. Like what is the reason of having zones if you never use them for content (and yes there’s fates but who actually gets excited about fates). I really think this is the real reason people miss Eureka/Bozja, without it the game feels dead for a lot players, especially solo players. I’m hopeful that Dawntrail will fix this.
Oh also just made it to that point in the vid, Kou actually 100% has played at least 1 old school game, 1 by the name Mabinogi, back in the day it was extremely grindy to getting literally anything done, I'd put it on par if not higher then WoW Classic's grind
I do savage, clear ultimates, criterion, maxed my island, did pre-nerf Eureka, max rank in Bozja, did BA, did DRS, is my opinion as valid as Zepla's yet? Because I don't agree with her.. at all.
The problem with content creators complaining is because their gameplay experience is different from regular players. I don't need nor want to play XIV 6-8 hours a day. I don't need stuff that engages viewers that can get people in everytime and also allows me to talk shit in chat. I just need a game I can play and have fun with. For me FFXIV and Endwalker is fine in that regard. I love blind progging Savage & Criterion, I love doing ultimates, I love story parts whenever they comes out, doing new trials and unreal with the static, doing some Frontlines and whatever else the game adds I'll engage with. I can do all that, and then because this game is solid I can also play XVI, Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur's Gate.
I don't give a shit about something like Bozja being in Endwalker, despite liking Bozja in the past
I like Variant and Criterion for the content it is, because I think they're fun and I look forward to doing more of them
I'm fine with job design and the 2 minute meta does not affect my enjoyment of the combat in the slightest
I think regular dungeons are fine just the way they are
I think Island Sanctuary was a fun experiment and am curious about the next lifestyle idea
I think M+ is ass and it's the very last thing they should come even close to considering for XIV
I don't give a shit about how grindy or not the relic is

I took a 1 year break from FFXIV and just came back. I blasted through a year of patch content I missed in a little over 10 days of casual play after work. I usually do savage content, but honestly the minuscule amount of attractive rewards of latest tiers are so lackluster there isn't much reason to care. That bahamut mount for all EX fight mounts is horrible. T12 salamander mount is W T F. The other criterion stuff isn't great either and it's AHable too.
I think this is just a herd effect, because of content creators and community talk, because if you show mostly of the people a video """hating"""" on endwalker, they will agree, if you show a video talking about the completely opposite, they also will agree.
The thing for me is that people do not know how to form their own opinions, because if you get mostly of the people who complains, they do nothing in the game at all, they probably do not even have eureka leveled up or any other content done, nor savage, and stay AFK in Limsa, who made videos with good feedback because experienced the game as a casual level and/or Endgame is fine, but I think the majority of people do not fall in any of those categories because probably have the world to do in the game, and if we get a larger spectrum (not only who complains), then mostly of people do not even care about that discussion and just boot up the game to have a good time.
My personal experience, endwalker was not fun for me because the jobs are boring in another whole level and the first savage tier was horrible, except for P3S, story I do not care thaaat much, but I enjoy, and Endwalker 6.0 for me was pretty mediocre, and onwards was boring, all the void stuff is just "please, just let me solve problems for small villages so I can start to care about a more grounded problem, I do not want another big thing to now the power of friendship will save the world and no one from the scions will die because they do not want to upset people".
But Endwalker made me realize how I liked the job design in Stormblood and early Shadowbringers, and I was enjoying playing because of that, I wish they found a middle ground between those two.

i'm all about chilling until next expansion now, no desire to quit either, just healthy break, i don't have group that needs me like i used to back in ShB, most of time end of expansion is about helping friends, getting things done like raid prog, or doing random things together, but not having anyone to do things with and RL taking priority during drought, it's easy to stop playing and wait or try other games.

I swear I saw forum posts about people complaining that relics were grindy and want the grind gone. We can all thank the loud minority really. Just like how ASTs lost their card buffs and intricate micro-management of cards because some loud minority complained that it was "too hard to play", as it was with SMNs and SCHs. Thank you loud minorities for ruining the game, who can't get good at their class/jobs, and want everything handed to them!
I'ma be petty when I hear complaints about 7.0 Relic being like Eureka/Bozja(assuming that is the case). We begged for it; me too, and I'll be damned if some complainers gonna get it taken away from us again. Prayin' the Devs also bring the MMO back to the game, cause I'll be petty again. This whole discourse has proven to me that the game is being ruined/catered to by a specific crowd of gamers that don't even like MMOs, and if by some miracle we start to get that back into the game I will be petty to those who complain about it. Idc at this point. I love MMORPGs, and so do many other people. All I ask is if you don't like those systems, just stick to the MSQ and Dailies and leave the rest of the game to those who do enjoy it. Or, just go play something else(just like they're so keen on telling us to do). But I will be fair and hold my expectations for 8.0(because that's the realistic point when our feedback will hit the actual game)
Honestly FF content creators got this all figured out. In the middle of a 13-month content drought, we now have multiple ytubers who aren’t even playing the game anymore creating a video reacting to the rest of the FF creator community and now Arthars, Xenos, etc., have new content to react to!
regarding the hate on EW relic I would just want to ask the ppl hatin on how easy it is to get it have they tried grindin ARR relic? especially the book part where you need to do random fates just to spawn the required fate on the book and don't get me started on the Levequest that you can only do a limited number of times back then
Biggest relic problem is tha fact its taking up tomes from the actual catch up gear: augmented tome, going to be 6000 tomes per relic on the next one

WoW's patch cadence is every 2 months with raids being every 6 months.
FFXIV's patch cadence is roughly every 4 months and each raid is every 7-9 months
Relics used to be a commitment but not anymore.
My personal favourite relic grind was heavensward because the big grind gave you the choice to take on a more difficult challenge would give you more progress towards the relic.
As an asian dude, Arthars gives me hope I won't go bald in a few years.

To be fair you can think the game is the best game you’ve ever played if all you’ve done is MSQ. Sure there can be aspects you haven’t done, but if the story and your experience is that good calling it the best game you’ve ever played is valid
However I also completely see the critiques and agree with a good number of them
Relic grinding with Bozja and Eureka made the game the most social. That and hunt trains. But lets be fair, on a hunt train you barely have time to say a sentence before the bloody monster dies and yall need to move… In bozja and eureka people stop to talk, and socialize because the game created the space and common goal for it. It was veeeery grindy but it was also the space where one without a friend group could get to know randoms the best.
