  1. BOY HOWDY did they ever backload the trauma on this expansion. Living Memory was such a bittersweet zone. You can so easily see why Preservation fought for this, and the kindness of the people who live here. Even with the cracks in the gilded cage, and the unsustainable and destructive means by which it's maintained, it's still not an easy choice to make.

Also, I'm really curious about the identity of the Alexandrian shard. I had assumed originally that the Everkeep was the last remaining bit of the world consumed by the Second Umbral Calamity, but if that's the case, then the Milalla would have travelled back in time when fleeing the Fifth Umbral Calamity.

  2. I was also hoping that they'd have the FFIX duel minigame even though I knew it was very unlikely. 😭 They did have that rhythm-like mini-game in The Firmament to play the piano so there was a small crumb of chance maybe.

One of the interesting things for me when meeting Otis in Living Memory was that I actually didn't like that iteration of him. I felt a lot of who he was as robot Otis was lost which makes sense since they were working with older data. They had similar traits naturally, but younger Otis' personality seemed a lot less honed(?) polished(?) refined(?) by time. To me he came off as a bit full of himself, whereas when we meet him outside of Living Memory it felt like his focus was much more on his duty. Part of it is probably that he seems capable of being a lot louder in human form.

I think my feelings show that the writing team did a good job in making it feel like the passage of time in a world where one can know loss provides more opportunities for growth than a stagnant one where everyone and everything is preserved.

My last comment is that seeing Sophie's reaction to Krile's moments reminded me that I did enjoy seeing Krile get several moments in this expac. She may be the focus of Eureka, but in MSQ she's kind of always just been around. Was cool to see her become a more core member this expansion as someone that just appreciates the variety in a roster of characters.

  3. That scene with Krile and her parents is the very one that made me think of you guys, knowing that "Krilley" is one of your favorite characters. Your reactions were as expected.

  4. If you speak to Scions before turning the 2nd terminal off, you get some incredibly sad dialogue about how kids in that district probably died as kids or were people who never knew greater happiness after they grew up… So sad. This zone HITs. So good…
